Chapter 452: Primordial Transformation

  • Next Chapter

Caelus’s vision blurred as the stars disappeared around him. An enormous dragon floated in the empty space ahead and lowered its head toward him.

"I sense the presence of a Primordial within you."

The spirit could speak, which meant he might finally get an answer to the question that had been bothering him.

"What the hell is a Primordial? I keep hearing that word without anyone explaining it."

"They exist above Chaos Gods and can cross distances you cannot imagine. An entire universe can disappear with a lift of their fingers."

Caelus remembered the being that had tossed the dragon’s egg into a universe. He had been right about its strength.

"You have what it takes to become one, but something is holding you back."

"Then tell me what I’m missing."

"You do not wish to become a Primordial strongly enough. Your transformation has begun, but you have not truly chosen to complete it."

"How am I supposed to want something I don’t even understand? I’m the Ender of Origin and I can ignore the rules of reality, but I still don’t know why I was given this power."

He thought about Sylvia waiting outside and the people they had left behind.

"I have a girlfriend I plan to marry soon and people I care about. I just want to keep them safe."

"Then you are on the right path, and I will help you reach Primordial Rank."

Light began spreading through the dragon’s body as it continued speaking.

"My creator told me about the Axiom Origin construct in your universe. Even he desired it, but the Primordial watching over your world held it.

"Few know that it holds the secret to creation. I sense its power within you so strongly that you almost seem to have been born from it.

"That woman can also use her authority over death in this universe because of its power. Under the Primordial Accords, abilities belonging to one universe should not function in another."

Caelus frowned as he remembered Sylvia using her Ender power when her ordinary skills failed.

"Who made those accords?"

"The Primordials agreed upon them themselves."

Even their rules couldn’t fully stop the Axiom Origin’s power. Had it really created the Ender of Origin just to balance the other six, or was there another reason?

The Primordial mentioned by the dragon must have been the Supreme One who gave birth to those Enders. They had killed him, yet Caelus was still carrying power connected to him.

The dragon’s wings dissolved into light and flowed toward Caelus.

"Get ready because my remaining power should be enough to complete your transformation."

"What will happen to you?"

"I will cease to exist, but I have already spent my time in this world."

Caelus accepted the light as it entered his chest. If this would let him protect the people he loved, he wanted to become a Primordial.

"Let the worlds know that a new Primordial is being born."

At that moment, a portal tore open near the dragon’s remains as the Hollow King drove the Heavenly Lord through it. He followed with a burning fist and struck the creature hard enough to send it crashing through a field of broken scales.

BOOM!

Red and blue light burst from the scattered remains as the Heavenly Lord pushed himself free. His two damaged heads turned toward the Hollow King while fire continued eating through his pale plates.

"Hahaha! You’re angry, Hollow King. I’m afraid all this effort will only destroy a clone."

The Hollow King caught the creature’s next strike and forced its arm backward. Then a blue beam erupted from one of its mouths and drove him away through open space.

The blast passed a star-shaped artifact carrying a mage and a woman. The mage’s face went pale as he spread a silver barrier around them and loose fragments struck its surface.

"I thought I sensed two Chaos Gods, but they’re even stronger than that!"

The Hollow King heard the barrier crack as he turned the beam aside. Its path swept across the darkness until a second barrier rose to meet it.

Three silver rings expanded around the blast and forced it away from the artifact. A woman carrying a ringed staff emerged through a portal with an older man beside her.

"Edran, help us contain them!"

The woman struck her staff against the nearest ring and six more spread outward. Together they enclosed the Hollow King and his opponent inside a vast cage.

[Spell Activated: Ninefold Seal.]

"End your fight and leave our universe!"

The Hollow King felt the space tighten around him as the nine rings turned. They slowed his next step, giving the Heavenly Lord enough time to rake hooked fingers across his wounded side.

He caught the attacking hand and slammed the creature into the cage instead of wasting time on the mages. Three rings shattered while the woman staggered outside the remaining six.

"Strengthen the seal!" The older mage raised both hands as fire gathered above him.

[Spell Activated: Sunfall.]

A blazing sphere dropped through the cage’s open top and struck both fighters. The Hollow King spread his flames against it while the Heavenly Lord vanished behind the burst of light.

BOOOOM!

The older mage pressed his hands together and forced the burning sphere to shrink. For a moment the seal held everything inside, but red light suddenly pierced its lower edge.

The Heavenly Lord burst through the opening and drove a claw into the mage’s chest. He threw the man into his companion before either could form another spell.

Edran caught them within a silver fold of space and pulled them out of the creature’s reach. Then a Space Heart formed above his hand and dragged the broken cage into a turning ring.

[Spell Activated: Starless Furnace.]

The Hollow King escaped through the gap in the cage as Edran’s furnace closed around the Heavenly Lord. The creature charged through one burning edge and emerged from the opposite side, where the Hollow King’s fist struck its blue-eyed head.

CRACK!

The blow crushed its jaw and sent it back into the flames. However, its remaining mouths began laughing as it looked past Edran toward the woman he was protecting.

"Well, would you look at that! The Ender of Death is here."
