Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 445: Breaking the Boundary

  • Next Chapter

Caelus began his full dragon transformation as the enormous hand swept toward them. His body expanded through the golden haze and he caught the descending fingers between his claws.

The impact drove him backward, but Origin Lightning spread from his claws and burned through the hand. Caelus tore it apart while Sylvia flew beneath the creature’s arm.

[Mystic Code Activated: Water.]

She formed several twisting streams and drove them into the wounds his lightning had opened. Their shapes wavered as she tried to control them all at once.

"Try sending it through these. I can get them inside the wounds."

Caelus sent lightning along her streams and blasted through the creature’s side. Sylvia then pulled the water outward, widening the damaged area as pieces of its body broke away.

The thing staggered, giving Caelus room to drive his claws into its chest. He released another surge directly inside it and tore the body open.

BOOM!

Golden fragments flew in every direction, but the victory lasted only long enough for him to see the next wave coming. Seeles streamed into the wreckage from all sides.

"How many relatives does this thing have?" Sylvia’s eyebrows were twitching violently seeing this.

Sylvia moved alongside him and began gathering earth beneath them.

She raised two long walls of stone and sent fire rolling along their outer faces. Caelus followed her into the space between them while the creature rebuilt itself behind him.

A golden fist smashed through both walls in one blow. He twisted away and felt it scrape across his scales, leaving a painful crack along his side.

Sylvia threw up a slanted stone ramp against the next strike. The fist slid along it just enough for Caelus to duck, although the stone burst apart immediately after.

He tried following the creature’s concepts with Origin Lock. Its constantly shifting body flooded his senses again, forcing him to abandon the attempt and block another blow with his claws.

Origin Lightning stripped away several fingers, but replacements formed around his grip. More Seeles were joining faster than he could burn them away.

[Mystic Code Activated: Time Authority.]

Caelus tried forcing the creature back to its earlier state. If he could undo the merging, they might finally escape.

However, nothing changed when his power reached it. The next fist struck his guard at full speed and drove him through Sylvia’s remaining wall.

"Time Authority doesn’t work on it!"

"Caelus, your side..."

She moved closer to the crack in his scales, but he blocked another strike and forced the arm away.

"I’m fine. We need an opening."

"Then let me try something. You can put your lightning inside it."

Sylvia gathered the broken stone into a massive hollow spear. She struggled to hold its tip together while wind spun through the opening down its center.

Caelus poured lightning into it and watched cracks spread along the stone. Sylvia held it together just long enough to send it toward the creature’s face.

BANG!

The spear burst on impact and drove its lightning-filled center through the golden head. Sylvia swept the fragments after it as Caelus lunged forward and tore through the ruined neck.

They broke free through the gap and flew toward the open realm beyond. Caelus could still feel lightning burning inside the creature behind them.

Then fresh streams of Seeles crossed overhead and merged into its shoulders. A larger head formed above the wounds while both arms stretched past the fleeing pair.

Sylvia sent fire and wind into one palm as Caelus blasted the other. They punched holes through both hands, yet neither attack could clear a path through the layers forming behind them.

His lightning was still hurting it, but the creature had far more bodies to spare than they had power to spend. Every opening they made closed beneath another wave of Seeles.

"Stay close!"

Caelus curled around Sylvia and covered his scales in Origin Lightning. She built several curved stone shields around them as the creature’s hands closed.

CRACK!

The shields burst one after another while lightning burned deep into the crushing palms. Then a final blow struck Caelus’s back and tore open a portal beneath them.

They plunged through it together. Through the shrinking entrance, he saw the giant separate into tiny lights that drifted away as though their work was done.

But that wasn’t the main matter now. His danger senses were screaming at him to leave this passage. Caelus returned to his human form and caught Sylvia’s hand as the light around them twisted.

"Whatever happens, don’t let go!"

Her fingers tightened around his as she checked the side where the creature had struck him.

"You don’t have to tell me that. Are you hurt anywhere else?"

"Nope. I thought that thing was gonna deal a final blow, but it was just opening a portal to make us leave."

As soon he finished speaking, a notification appeared in front of him.

[Would you like to extract?]

Extract?

The offer pointed toward the energy rushing around them. With no stable exit in sight, Caelus accepted it.

[Talent Activated: Endless Extraction.]

[Ding! Sufficient energy for Multiverse Traversal extracted from the Astral Realm.]

[Boundary Energy: 1/1]

BOOM!

Golden power erupted from his body and enclosed them both.

[Ding! Your Multiverse Traversal Authority is out of control.]

[Ding! You are leaping through worlds.]

The system had become unusually talkative, yet none of its messages explained how to stop.

Then, countless reflections of them appeared across the passage alongside images of other worlds. Each stretched farther into the distance as their bodies accelerated.

Caelus now knew not to fuck with the multiverse.

[Boundary Energy: 0.5/1]

White light filled their vision and threw them into open space. Caelus steadied himself beside Sylvia and searched the stars for anything familiar.

"Did we make it back?"

"Hubby, I don’t think this is our world. I can sense several authorities controlling death and something connected to reincarnation."

Sylvia had received the notice about leaping through worlds too. Neither of their system panels had mentioned anything about this being their own home world unfortunately.

But more importantly, that wasn’t what concerned her.

Her Ender authority still worked here, and Caelus could feel Origin Lock responding as well.

If the Enders came from their universe alone, why could their powers reach into this one be active here?

There had to be more to their origins than he understood.

However, before he could think further, another notification appeared as he examined the unfamiliar space around them.

[Ding! This world’s administrator has taken notice of you and your authorities.]
