Chapter 1568 1568: You Are Weak (Part 1)

Whooooosh. Whooooosh. Whooooosh.

In a bloody, wild whirlwind, Adam and Vaarh moved across the battlefield, destroying everything in their path. Nothing could remain intact when they appeared nearby, and this applied to both monsters and ice peaks.

But, even though they were currently evenly matched and Vaarh was in a winning position, a great frown was on his face.

Adam had about thirty seconds left, maybe less, before his energy ran out, the Evolution Tree was completely depleted, and the monster energy destroyed him.

Vaarh understood all this well, but he did not feel that victory was close. On the contrary, with every second, with every monster killed, his heart beat faster and faster, now filled not only with excitement, but also with fear of defeat.

'What's going on?' Vaarh thought as he slammed his fist into Adam. 'Why do I feel like he has a chance to win? He has less than a minute left to live!!!'

Despite the fact that the azure eye could see everything, Vaarh failed to notice something before Alexia did.

The golden light in Adam's eyes grew stronger and stronger until it reached its peak.

The light came out of Adam's eyes, momentarily blinding even Vaarh and the azure eye, as Adam's Path Construct came into motion.

Click.

A click sounded in the inner space as golden flows appeared from the dark borders, also deciding to head for the Evolution Tree.

Step. Step. Step.

Lone Blaze, who, like all parts of the Evolution Tree, was under attack from the monster energy, now watched the golden flows slowly moving from the far reaches of space.

When this happened, it meant that the energy was coming directly from Adam, from the outside world. This happened with the monster energy, and now it was the turn of the mysterious golden energy.

"What is this...?" Lone Blaze muttered.

She couldn't understand what she was supposed to feel: excitement, fear, or awe?

She understood the danger posed by the monster energy that now filled the Evolution Tree, but she believed in Adam. She knew that the risk he had taken would once again lead them to victory.

But...

She had no information about what the golden flows were. She had never seen anything like this before.

The only thing she understood was that it was energy that had appeared specifically for some event, the catalyst for which was the battle outside.

"Hmm... Will the Evolution Tree be able to absorb this energy now? Won't the monster energy interfere with that?"

Lone Blaze had many questions. She really wanted to know the answers.

However, there was only one answer—she herself.

"Agh?"

Lone Blaze's eyes widened when the golden flows curved and headed straight for her. Their target was not the Evolution Tree, nor its roots or branches, but she was.

The confusion on Lone Blaze's face gradually turned to joy.

An unknown force, possibly Adam's new ability, had chosen her out of all the parts of the Evolution Tree.

"R-Right." Her voice trembled. "It's my turn to become stronger so I can help Adam win!"

Crack. Crack. Crack.

The golden flows passed through the gene, passing into a small, separate space within Lone Blaze.

The smile on her face grew brighter until the golden energy touched her chest.

THUMP!

Lone Blaze's eyes widened, and her pupils narrowed from the excruciating pain.

"GHA!"

She clutched her heart, trying to quell the pain. Her veins swelled as more and more of the golden flows rushed toward her, without mercy, filling her body.

Like a dying patient, Lone Blaze waved her arm, trying to grab onto something, but there was only darkness around her, no walls, no support.

"Agh... Agh... Agh..."

Breathing heavily, she collapsed to her knees. She hoped that this was the end and that now she would be able to come to her senses and recover.

But...

As soon as she looked up, she saw golden flows heading towards her. There were even more of them than before, because they all reflected Adam's bliss that he experienced during the deadly battle against Vaarh.

The longer Adam fought, the closer he got to death, the more golden flows would come.

Only now did Lone Blaze begin to understand that this was not a reward, but rather torture.

And... She didn't know if she could endure even one more round.

"No... No, no, no!" Lone Blaze exclaimed, crawling back, but the golden flows had already surrounded her.

The glare reflected in her eyes as soon as a painful scream reflecting her agony echoed through the inner space.

She writhed in pain, unable to endure it any longer.

Unfortunately for Lone Blaze, this was only the beginning.

The pain was intense, but it was not enough to kill her, at least that was true in Lone Blaze's case, because she had no physical body.

This was only the first stage of the golden flows, and Lone Blaze was not ready for the second.

Well, she had no other choice.

"GRH!!!"

Lone Blaze flinched as a stream of blood gushed from her mouth.

'Am I wounded...?' Lone Blaze thought as she looked at the dark blood. 'How can that be?'

The realization struck her, bringing only a new wave of horror to her heart.

'This power, it's tearing me apart!'

Normally, in such a situation, Lone Blaze would try to get rid of the energy, or at least purify it so that it would no longer be dangerous to her.

Now, that was impossible.

She didn't understand the nature of this energy, and she couldn't see any way to do it.

All she could do was suffer and bleed, while the golden flows continued to flow from Adam's fight.

Sure, it wouldn't be twenty seconds before Adam reached his limit, but for Lone Blaze, it would be an eternity.

Step. Step. Step.

At some point, footsteps sounded from the side as Lone Blaze slowly raised her head.

She met the Silver Weaver's gaze, and he had not come here to pity her.

He was here to do the opposite.
