Endless Debt

Chapter 1571 - 90: Butcher’s Pit 3

He originally thought that these endless years would lead to self-collapse, but Trick never expected that as time passed, his consciousness became increasingly clear, and his hatred for Serey grew ever stronger.

"Serey..."

The man playfully whispered Serey’s name, then turned his tone and asked, "How’s the work going?"

"I’ve followed your instructions and gathered all the blood minions here."

Trick asked puzzledly, "But that’s all the blood minions. If we send them all in there, we’ll have no more blood resources left."

"That’s unavoidable. Our time is running out."

The man collected his smile, his expression turning serious, "Our great enemy, the Order Bureau, has successfully resolved the Ancestral Council, consolidated its internal forces, and the King’s Secret Sword is entangled by Overlord Xilin... Unexpectedly, the Order Bureau will soon press forward with their army, and by then, no matter how many blood minions we have, it will be meaningless. It’s better to consume these encumbrances in advance."

Trick rebutted, "Then the blood minions should be consumed in a reasonable place. They should be transformed into a Bloodthirsty army, instead of being wasted under that monster’s butcher’s knife."

The man was silent for a moment, "Trick, do you hate me?"

Trick was taken aback.

The man turned around, looking directly at Trick, "I can understand your emotions, you are the Night King’s most loyal servant, accompanying him through the establishment, expansion, Dawn War, and even the long imprisonment of the Eternal Night Empire."

"You feel that you are the one who should be second in blood donation, and you believe that you should bear this position... Regent King."

He, the Regent King, stared into Trick’s eyes, questioning, "Am I correct?"

The atmosphere suddenly turned grim, a faint scent of blood lingered at the nose, Trick hesitated a moment, openly nodding in acknowledgment but shook his head.

"Yes, I can hardly accept an outsider becoming our Regent King," Trick’s words were firm, without the slightest retreat, "But I have to accept everything, after all, you can evade the constraints of the Oath."

"If you can rebuild the Eternal Night Empire, I am willing to serve you, but if you can’t..."

Trick did not continue, but beneath those words, both of them already understood.

The Regent King chuckled leisurely, he liked Trick’s character, the remnants of the Dawn War all had noteworthy characteristics, they worship absolute power, as long as the fist is big enough, they are forever your loyal subordinates, but once you show a trace of fragility, they will kill you without hesitation, letting a stronger replace you.

"Let me explain in detail, Trick, you have been imprisoned in this Land of Eternal Night for too long, you have no idea what changes have occurred in the outside world over the past hundred years."

Trick guessed what the Regent King wanted to say, "It’s nothing but the Alchemy Matrix’s alternation."

"Then I can only say, the evolution outside is faster than you imagine," the Regent King showed a provocative look, "You and I have exchanged blows, both Seekers of Glory, you can feel the difference, right?"

Trick was rendered speechless, that duel was a disgrace, Trick couldn’t inflict the slightest injury on the Regent King, instead, he was repeatedly aimed at the throat by the Regent King’s sword.

"Among the enemies outside, there are those with Alchemy Matrices more advanced than mine, you’re old, the only advantage is simply your immortality."

The Regent King turned his tone, "But fortunately, we all know how to bridge the era gap of the Alchemy Matrix, don’t we."

Trick retreated a few steps, leaning against the wall, his voice becoming weary, "Immortal Armor, through it, we can moderately bridge the gap of the era."

The soul-carrying Alchemy Matrix cannot be modified postnatally, which predestines the era gap.

But Alchemy Armament is different.

To avoid being left behind by time, every few decades, the Undead would invite the most knowledgeable scholars to implant the most advanced Alchemy Matrix of the era into their worn armor, crafting it into exceedingly complex and formidable Alchemy Armament.

Immortal Armor is what the Undead crowned it.

"Very unfortunate, Regent King," Trick said disappointedly, "In the Dawn War, my Immortal Armor was shattered, even if the Royal City had spares, they haven’t been updated in a hundred years."

The Regent King smiled, "I know, so our dear allies are sending us a batch of brand-new Immortal Armor."

Trick was momentarily puzzled, each Immortal Armor piece is exceedingly precious, he was clueless about where the Regent King obtained them from, but soon, Trick remembered those cunning merchants.

The Gray Trade Association, backed by Devil Mammon, was forced to unite with the Rebellious Royal Court under the growing strength of the Order Bureau. If the Rebellious Royal Court is the professional mercenary, then they are the affluent arms dealers.

The Regent King looked out the window. From the mist’s end, the blood minions’ procession appeared, "A hundred years ago, a Bloodthirsty army may have been somewhat useful, but a hundred years later, in front of those High Tier Condensers, they’re just straw waiting to be harvested."

He further denied, "The direction of today’s warfare is no longer dominated by the majority but tightly controlled by the few."

Trick nodded thoughtfully. He had been disconnected from the outside world for too long, even though the Regent King’s arrival rebuilt the Royal City, brought endless information, he still struggled to truly comprehend world changes through text and image.

"As for your accusation of those meaningless expenditures... This is meaningful."

The Regent King stepped onto the window edge and leapt directly to the tower’s top, Trick followed him as they conversed while crossing the towering spire.

Looking out, on one side of the Royal City Ruins, a vast square could be seen, much like the entire Royal City, the past splendor no longer exists, only a scene of desolation remains.

Trick remembered that square, it was there he was conferred by the Night King, and likewise, it was there he witnessed his former master Serey Villeries become the first Night Race Lord with his own eyes.

From the square came a roar filled with murderous intent. Even from such a distance, the sound did not diminish at all, penetrating Trick’s ears, causing turmoil in his blood.

Since the Regent King returned, he brought back a monster covered in thorns, it was locked dead on that once honorable square, engaging in endless slaughter.

Every day, thousands of Bloodthirsty soldiers and blood minions were thrown into the square by the Regent King, allowing them to be shredded by that thorny monster, countless bones piled up around the square, forming mountainous heights surrounding it, over time, it formed a pit-like shape.

Butcher’s Pit.

The Night Race referred to that bloody place as such, even a Pure Blood Night Race like Trick had to remain extra vigilant against that overflowing violence.

"To put it simply, that monster is considered the Debtor of the Eyes of Eternal Fury, and as it slaughters and performs blood sacrifices, we can awaken the Eyes of Eternal Fury from slumber and bring endless chaos back to the world."

The Regent King envisioned, "Only when the situation is chaotic can we stall the Order Bureau and find the victory within."

Trick gazed at that scarlet ground, the thorny monster’s massacre never paused, just as the wars in this world have never stopped.

"It’s like a blood sacrifice calling for war..."

"Yes, it’s a blood sacrifice," the Regent King said, "Only the Order Bureau has likely discerned my intentions, we must accelerate, expand the scope of the blood sacrifice."

"So kill all the blood minions?"

Trick did not feel compassion for the blood minions; he just still felt it was excessively wasteful.

The Regent King said, "Almost, this part of the task is up to you, I have other matters to attend to next."

"What else do you have to do?"

"War, Trick, besides war, what else can I be busy with," the Regent King spread his hands, helpless, "The new troops have already assembled, we’re going to raid the Fortress of the Morning Wind."

Upon hearing Fortress of the Morning Wind, Trick’s expression grew solemn. Clearly, this name evoked some unpleasant memories for him.

"If we manage to capture it smoothly, we might find and tear apart the Dawn Oath, even if that proves impossible, exerting enough pressure on Fortress of the Morning Wind is still worthwhile," the Regent King’s eyes cold and ruthless, "We absolutely cannot let the Order Bureau easily press their army forward, it would leave us too passive."

Trick asked, "When does the attack start?"

The Regent King raised his hand, glanced at the nonexistent watch on his wrist, and smiled.

"It has already started."
