Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1535 - 1576: She’s Become Simple-Minded
"They said she was from another village, but in fact, she married a villager from this village. However, her husband died, and her husband’s parents passed away long ago, so she left the village. It’s safe to say she has no relatives in the village. She returned previously just to repair her husband’s parents’ old graves," the officer said.
"What’s the name of that woman surnamed Fang?" Kyle Kinston asked.
"Still investigating. Most people in the village call her Sister-in-law Xie because her husband’s surname was Xie," the officer replied. After a few hours of investigation, in such an old village, with no surveillance to check, all that can be done is to visit and inquire from house to house. Finding this much information is already quite challenging.
"Immediately find out this woman’s real name and her relatives and friends. Maybe her relatives or friends know her whereabouts, but don’t alert her for now," Kyle Kinston said. It was still unclear whether this woman was good or bad, and why she took Ivy away, or what her intentions might be.
"Yes, we understand," the officer replied. "By the way, we’re also interviewing some villagers inside who had seen your daughter before. Would you like to listen in?"
Kyle Kinston turned his head to look at Mabel Quinn, who nodded repeatedly, eager to learn more about her daughter’s situation.
The two of them walked into a room temporarily chosen by the police for interviewing. They saw two policemen talking with a few villagers and some children. The villagers, mindful of the police interrogation, spoke cautiously and were careful with their words, but the children, had no such reservations.
They gleefully called the little one a fool, describing how dirty and silly she was, always hiding in a dilapidated house, and even when bullied, she remained dazed and dumb, picking up things thrown on the ground to eat.
The children talked with great enthusiasm, as though bullying someone was an honorable act. The adults, however, quickly scolded them, "What nonsense are you spouting!? Officers, these children are just talking nonsense, please don’t take them seriously."
Upon hearing this, Mabel Quinn staggered, feeling dizzy. What had she heard? Was her daughter, whom she had always carefully protected, ever treated like this?
And they said... fool? What does that mean? Ivy’s personality is such that if she were abandoned by the woman who abducted her, she would still find a way to call the police or contact her. She had memorized both Mabel’s phone number and the emergency number by heart. Besides, how could her daughter be bullied and remain dazed?
"What are you talking about? Fool? What’s happened to her?" Mabel Quinn anxiously asked.
"She... she’s just a fool!" a child boldly responded. "I heard someone say her head was injured, that’s why she was abandoned here in the village."
Mabel Quinn felt the world spinning and, in the next moment, collapsed into Kyle Kinston’s arms.
"Kyle, Ivy she..." Mabel Quinn said.
Kyle Kinston quickly soothed her with his eyes and then sternly addressed the villagers, "Speak more clearly!" He too was equally anxious after hearing these words. The woman who had abducted Ivy was previously captured and only mentioned that Ivy was slightly injured, fearing the cost of treatment was too high, she abandoned the daughter, without mentioning anything about her being a fool.
