Their daughter must still be alive! Kyle Kinston’s gaze fell on Mabel Quinn’s face, who was still unconscious. And Mabel, without Ivy, what would become of her? He dared not continue imagining...

The Kinston Family, the Quinn Family, and the police began searching for the missing Harper Kinston within a half-hour drive from the airport, conducting various checks. Meanwhile, on a long-distance bus, a dark-complexioned, honestly-dressed middle-aged woman boarded with a little girl. The girl was wrapped in a blanket, seemingly asleep, but her forehead was covered with a bandage.

"Is this your child, ma’am?" a young man sitting next to the middle-aged woman asked, finding the child adorable despite being asleep, not quite like a child that an ordinary rural woman could give birth to.

Especially since the little girl looked very pale and tender-skinned, while the middle-aged woman had dark skin, making them look even less like mother and daughter.

"Of course, she’s my child." The middle-aged woman replied in accented Mandarin, tucking the little girl closer.

"Your child is injured, is it serious?" the young man asked again.

"It’s alright, not very serious. She fell while playing with other kids and hit her head on the hillside. I’m just too distracted to work, so I’m taking her back to the hometown to have the Hospital take a look at her, to help her recover. Once she’s well, I’ll return to work. As mothers, we feel distressed over even the slightest injuries to our children." As the woman spoke, she couldn’t help but sob a few times, making others feel uncomfortable too.

Passengers in the seats ahead and behind now started comforting the woman. Seeing this, the young man felt less suspicious, unaware of the woman’s own anxiety.

She found this little girl accidentally. Although the child had many external injuries, none appeared serious. The most severe seemed to be the bleeding on the forehead. She bought some hemostatic medication and bandages from a pharmacy to treat it. The child’s appearance was the most beautiful among kids she had seen. If sold, she could fetch a good price.

Thus, even though the girl was clearly injured, she still took her, planning to first visit a clinic in the County Town upon returning home. If not a severe issue, she’d sell the child. If costly treatment was necessary, she’d just abandon her somewhere.

She avoided direct hospital visits in J City, fearing the girl’s family might find her. Big cities are stricter with personal identification, unlike lenient small County Towns.

Yet, she was puzzled about how such a young girl could sustain so many injuries and appear in such a place, with no adult nearby... The middle-aged woman pondered.

The bus slowly left J City; everything seemed so inconspicuous.

When Kyle Kinston carried Mabel Quinn to the Hospital, the doctor quickly examined and treated her, while Edward Quinn worried about his daughter, also concerning him was his son-in-law’s blood-stained appearance.
