Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1431 - 1472: It’s Over
"Everything I said is true!" Francine Howards’ face flushed once more, but this time, it was all out of anger!
"I don’t need to care whether what you say is true or not, but if you plan to achieve something with just a few words, then clearly you’re going to be disappointed. Of course, if you plan to spread these words around, then Kyle and I will use legal action to sue you for defamation. How many years do you think you’d like to spend in prison then?" Mabel Quinn said.
Francine Howards was furious; Mabel Quinn was blatantly threatening her!
After Mabel Qin finished her sentence, she pulled Kyle Kinston toward the exit, leaving Francine Howards standing there alone, as if her existence was utterly insignificant.
And Kyle Kinston... didn’t even glance at her.
Mabel Quinn greeted the crew staff, asking them to inform the director that she had some business to attend to and would be leaving early that afternoon. Then, she and Kyle Kinston got into her car, while his car was naturally driven back by the Driver.
While starting the car, Mabel Quinn said to Kyle Kinston, "Don’t overthink it. Like I said, no matter what happened in your past, it doesn’t matter to me."
Although she mocked and ridiculed Francine Howards’ words, acting disbelieving, it was only to undermine the other person, to make her feel the leverage she thought she had was ineffective. However, she knew in her heart, from his reaction, that what Francine Howards said might be true.
He hung his head and didn’t speak; his hands resting on his knees trembled slightly.
Mabel Quinn drove back to the Quinn Family house, and it was just after 3 p.m., so her father and daughter hadn’t returned yet.
Kyle Kinston remained silent the whole way, his downcast eyes veiling all expressions in them.
Mabel Quinn took Kyle Kinston back to the bedroom. Looking at his silence, she sighed, raised her hands to cup his face, and said, "The way you are now doesn’t seem like the usual you. I wasn’t scared by Francine Howards’ words, yet you seem frightened."
His thin lips parted slightly, and his voice came out light and raspy, "What if what she said is true?" The words seemed forced out of his throat with all the strength he could muster.
"If it’s true, it’s true. So what?" she said nonchalantly. Her voice was much more relaxed compared to his hoarse tone.
He abruptly raised his head, looking at her in shock, "You’re not afraid?"
"If I really were afraid, I should have been six years ago!" Her eyes locked onto his as she said, "Remember when we went to K City together, the city where you lived as a child? We heard about a former neighbor of yours who died after your mother passed away. Is it this person?" This was the person who had once insulted his mother, and eventually got what they deserved.
He was taken aback, "Did you already..."
"It was just a guess," she said. "So it doesn’t matter, Kyle. I really don’t care what Francine Howards said, and you don’t need to worry. Everything in the past is already over."
Her words finally eased his expression, and then, as if utterly exhausted, he embraced her, resting his head on her shoulder, "Is everything really over?"
