Chapter 1410 - 1450: Kinston Family Ancestral Hall

Mabel Quinn was speechless. If this strengthened her daughter’s combat skills, wouldn’t the next kindergarten brawl end more disastrously for the other kid?

Kyle Kinston replied, "Just tell her it’s for self-defense, to protect herself, not for hitting others. Besides, our daughter needs to learn some self-defense moves. We can’t have something happen someday, and she wouldn’t even know how to protect herself, can we?"

Mabel Quinn thought, yeah, that’s true, so she agreed. A few days into the lessons, she watched her daughter’s movements, unsure if they were correct or not, so she asked Kyle about her daughter’s progress.

He bluntly said, "She’s way more talented than you back in the day."

"..." Mabel Quinn was at a loss for words. Was he praising their daughter, or was he putting her down?

Still, Mabel couldn’t help but remind her daughter not to use this as an excuse to fight. The little one impatiently said, "Mommy, I know. I won’t hit others first. Daddy said if someone hits me first, then I can hit back."

Mabel Quinn thought it made some sense but felt it was a bit strange, like saying you were just waiting for someone to strike so you could retaliate.

"Even then, don’t hit too hard," Mabel admonished again. She was deeply afraid her daughter might accidentally cripple a kid in kindergarten.

"What does ’too hard’ mean?" the little one asked, puzzled.

"..." Mabel was at a loss for words, not knowing how to describe the degree of "too hard" to her daughter, until Kyle said, "You don’t need to be this tense. Ivy is just a few years old. Even if she trains in some self-defense, how much damage can she really do? At most, it’ll just make her more agile than other kids."

Mabel thought about it and relaxed.

At that moment, watching her daughter respectfully pay homage at the tombstone of Kyle Kinston’s parents, Mabel felt endless emotion in her heart.

Had there not been so many misunderstandings, Kyle’s parents might still be alive, loving each other right now.

After finishing the ritual, the three of them returned to the Quinn residence and had dinner with Uncle Kang. Uncle Kang was delighted at the return of Mabel Quinn and Katherine Quinn, repeatedly saying, "It’s good to be back, it’s good to be back! As a family, we should be happy together."

After dinner, Kyle Kinston asked Mabel Quinn, "Wanna go for a walk after dinner?"

Before Mabel could respond, the little one jumped in eagerly, insisting they should. Mabel laughed, so the three of them strolled along the shaded path behind the Quinn residence.

Even though it was night, there was a mountain behind the residence. However, on the path, streetlights were spaced every few steps, making it quite bright and not at all scary.

The little one must have slept well on the plane because she wasn’t sleepy at all and her big round eyes were curiously observing everything around.

Without realizing it, the three of them found themselves at the entrance of the Ancestral Hall. The little one, curious about the place, asked Kyle, "Daddy, what is this place?"

"This is where the ancestors of the Kinston Family reside," Kyle said.

"Is it just like when we went to pay respects at grandpa’s today?" the little one asked. She remembered the phrase "ancestors" was also mentioned by grandpa during the ritual earlier.
