Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch
Chapter 145: Awakening the Abyssal Soul Forge
The ocean within a two-mile radius of the Nero Trench did not ripple.
Flattened into a polished, mirror-like sheet of dark purple glass by the weight of Renan’s newly awakened Tier-4 Monarch domain, the sea reflected a sky that had turned to pale, twilight grey. The sea gulls had fled, the offshore wind had died to a breathless standstill, and forty fathoms below, the deep fault line held its breath.
Renan stood upon the floating, massive carcass of the slain Alpha Leviathan.
His woolen coat was dry now, the seawater evaporated by the intense thermal haze radiating from his skin.
Inside his chest, his newly reconstituted twin-chambered core beat with a slow, heavy rhythm that echoed through the seabed, each pulse sending waves of twenty-two thousand units of Sovereign density washing through the abyssal network.
Before him, hovering in the cold air three feet above the leviathan’s torn blowhole, sat a floating glyph of dark, geometric obsidian.
[Feature Unlocked: Abyssal Soul Forge] [Consolidation Matrix: Tier-4 Monarch Authority] [Current Unrefined Biomass: 180 Tons (Tier-S Trench Leviathan)] [Current Unrefined Mineral Mass: 320 Tons (Cold-Rolled British Naval Steel & Iridium Scrap)] [Select Synthesis Directive...]
Renan extended his right hand, his pale fingers closing around the cold air beneath the glowing obsidian glyph.
"We no longer merely raise what dies, Arthur," Renan spoke, his voice low, clear, and carrying a strange, metallic resonance that vibrated through the quiet water. "We melt the flesh, we smelt the iron, and we pour them into a single mold."
Shadow Knight Arthur stepped up to the edge of the floating carcass, his star-metal claymore resting point-down against the tough black hide.
"The forge awaits its first ingot, Sovereign," Arthur answered, his visor reflecting the deep violet light pulsing from Renan’s collarbone.
Renan flicked his wrist.
[Initiating Synthesis: Abyssal Heavy Vanguard] [Materials Selected: Alpha Leviathan Carapace + Scuttled Destroyer Armor Plates + Depleted Uranium Scrap] [Soul Conduit: 2,000 Unassigned Shadow Souls]
BOOM!
The black water beneath the floating leviathan did not splash; it tore open in a vertical, sixty-foot fissure of pure, liquid midnight.
A subterranean heat, colder than deep space yet burning like liquid sulfur, erupted from the fissure as the gargantuan carcass began to dissolve. The two-hundred-foot black hide, the dense cartilage ribs, and the multi-jointed mandibles did not decay or rot. They unraveled into thousands of glowing crimson ribbons of bio-mana, drawn downward into the swirling vortex of the Abyssal Soul Forge alongside eighty tons of twisted steel plates torn from the seabed wrecks.
Inside the dark abyss, the grinding sound of titanic gears echoed across the sea.
It sounded like an underwater foundry operating at maximum pressure, the screech of liquid star-iron being hammered against ancient granite anvils thirty fathoms deep.
Ten seconds later, the surface of the black pool bubbled.
SWOOSH!
A colossal form rose from the depths, breaking the surface without making a single wave.
Standing thirty-five feet tall, the newly forged construct stepped onto the mirror-like surface of the ocean, its three wide, clawed sabatons planting firmly onto the water with a dull, heavy thud.
It was neither beast nor machine.
Its body was an unyielding blend of thick, chitinous leviathan armor and cold-rolled naval uranium plate, colored the deep matte-black of an abyss trench. Four heavy, hydra-like serpentine heads, encrusted with volcanic glass and glowing with silver-violet eye clusters, rose from a broad, armored torso that mirrored the sloped turrets of a warship. From its back, two massive, articulated mechanical tendrils, tipped with heavy industrial cutting drills, hissed with high-pressure steam.
[Synthesis Complete] [New Unit Created: Abyssal Dredge Chimera (Tier-A Heavy Line-Breaker)] [Unit Count: 1 of 5] [Core Trait: Amphibious Tectonic Pressure Immunity] [Core Trait: Submerged Hydraulic Cleave]
The gargantuan chimera lowered its four serpentine heads in unison, driving its clawed sabatons two inches into the solidified sea foam as it bowed before Renan, a deep, sub-vocal rumble vibrating through its armored chest.
"A fine hammer," Shadow Colossus Vance noted from the bridge wing of Vanguard-Zero, his acoustic speaker buzzing softly. "That hull plating can withstand forty atmospheres of pressure and a direct hit from a 120mm armor-piercing round without structural deformation. It will serve well as a forward trench anchor."
Renan did not stop at a single unit.
He raised both hands, his violet pupils flaring with ruthless, efficient ambition as he directed the Abyssal Soul Forge to process the remaining two secondary leviathan carcasses floating along the boundary line.
"Forge four more," Renan commanded.
The water boiled once again as the black fissure expanded to a hundred yards wide.
One by one, four more Abyssal Dredge Chimeras rose from the deep, their thirty-five-foot mechanized frames lining up in a disciplined, impenetrable wall of dark iron and ancient chitin across the outer boundary line. Their four serpentine heads turned in unison toward the south, their glowing silver eyes sweeping the empty horizon where the Western fleets lay hidden beyond the clouds.
Renan walked across the mirror-black sea, stepping onto the forward deck of Vanguard-Zero.
His internal status window hovered before his vision, its ciphers updating in rapid, clean rows:
[Sovereign Status Audit] [Class: Tier-4 Ominous Monarch (Continental Hegemon)] [Sovereign Core Density: 22,000 Units] [Shadow Legion Total: 8,200 Active Constructs] [Specialized Units: 2 General-Grade (Arthur, Vance), 1 High-Knight (Ignis), 1 Titan-Grade Anchor (Thorne), 5 Abyssal Dredge Chimeras] [Legion Consolidation Cap: Unlimited (Tier-4 Protocol Active)]
Boss Victor’s voice broke through the radio transceiver on Renan’s collar, crisp and clear despite the lingering thermal interference from the forge.
"Sovereign," Victor reported from Pier Four. "The Greek freighter Panagiotis has finished unloading its grain cargo. Captain Nikolaos just requested permission to clear his moorings and head back out past the two-hundred-mile mark."
Renan looked back toward the harbor channel, where the grey hull of the freighter was slowly turning its bow toward the open ocean.
"Clear his passage, Victor," Renan answered into his lapel microphone. "Tell Captain Nikolaos to inform his fellow shipping masters that the Eastern Strait is no longer merely guarded by dead ships."
"Understood, Sovereign," Victor said, a gravelly laugh trailing behind his words. "And what about the five new monstrosities standing on the water out there? The crew on the Greek ship are staring at them through their binoculars with their jaws hanging open."
Renan looked at the five thirty-five-foot chimeras standing motionless upon the black sea, their heavy drill tendrils locked in neutral rest positions, their four heads watching the southern horizon with cold, unblinking vigilance.
"Tell them," Renan whispered into the cold wind, "that those are the toll collectors for any ship that forgets to pay."
He turned toward the dreadnought’s inner companionway, stepping down into the cool, dark steel corridors leading toward the central power trunk.
The initial test of the Abyssal Soul Forge was complete.
The deep-sea rift had been subdued, the outer boundary was anchored by living iron, and his core density sat securely within the Tier-4 threshold.
Yet as Renan reached the entrance of the engine room, where the captured Westinghouse reactor hummed with clean, endless nuclear power, Shadow Knight Arthur appeared at his shoulder, his voice dropping into a tense, urgent whisper.
"Sovereign," Arthur said, holding a dark, leather-bound intelligence dossier sealed with the crest of the European black-market syndicate. "Sylas just transmitted an emergency signal from the Parisian safehouse. The bankers in Zurich have completed their first move."
Renan stopped, his hand resting against the cold iron doorframe as his violet eyes narrowed into sharp, deadly points.
"Did they freeze the accounts?"
"No, Sovereign," Arthur replied, opening the dossier to reveal a marked map of the Swiss Alps. "They have hired the first three regional hunter guilds in Western Europe to seize every shipment of raw mana-ores passing through the Alpine tunnels. The financial war has begun."
