[Ancient Awakening.]

He activated his ability and the energy in his body moved, this time, in a very very familiar manner.

Golden tendrils then formed around his palm, moved toward the Steel Dragon Egg and the moment they touched it—

The entire Sanctuary changed.

The beautiful garden they were in became silent, as if it was silently waiting for what was about to happen and it wasn’t just Eira’s region either, every other region inside the Sanctuary stopped making any sound.

Everything came to a strange pause, waiting for the family’s new member to appear.

Then the transformation began.

The golden light covering the Egg became denser, the Egg’s dark silver shell started to change, at first, thin golden cracks appeared across the surface, but Kael could see they were not real cracks.

They looked more like glowing lines being carved into the Egg by some ancient hand, then the black color began to fade.

The silver became something... deeper.

Something... heavier.

It no longer looked like normal steel.

It became brighter, almost like polished metal, but at the same time, it carried a strange ancient weight.

Soon, the entire Egg turned into a deep adamant silver.

A color that looked like metal, stone and... starlight had somehow mixed into one. Golden lines ran around it like veins, while faint dark patterns settled beneath the shell.

And with that—

The Egg started sucking Kael’s energy.

Kael felt the pull and that made him raise his eyebrow, it was quite strong.

Of course, he didn’t stop it, he gave his child however much energy he wanted. The Egg continued to devour his energy hungrily.

The Egg pulsed.

For a moment, it slowed down, almost as if it was worried about Kael. Kael just smiled, and the next second, as if knowing that nothing happened, that it could take more—

The Egg started absorbing even more energy.

And as it did—

The air became heavier.

The Egg pulsed again, the golden tendrils around it suddenly turned silver, then silver turned into adamant light.

The transformation continued, the Steel Dragon Egg was no longer the same, its shape did not change much, the size remained the same, but everything else about it was different.

Kael stared at it in silence.

Then—

[Ancient Awakening Complete.]

The message appeared and Kael finally let go of the breath he had been holding back all this while.

He doesn’t know why, even after repeating the exact same process six times before, every time the Egg transformed, he felt a strange sense of worry.

What if something happens?

What if something doesn’t work?

What if the child inside is hurt?

Such questions appeared in his mind, even now, he was thinking the same thing, and as the message ’Ancient Awakening Complete’ appeared, he finally calmed down a little.

Yes, not completely.

After all, it wasn’t over.

[Skill <Blood Bond of the Ancients> can be used.]

[Would you like to use <Blood Bond of the Ancients> on the target?]

[Y/N]

The question appeared in front of him and Kael, after taking a deep breath—

’Yes.’

He answered.

Vitaria then passed him a small knife that he kept inside his Sanctuary just for this, he cut his finger and let a drop of his blood fall onto the Egg’s surface.

The moment the blood touched the shell—

Bzzzz

The Egg absorbed it instantly.

Then, the entire Egg shone.

The light spread through the garden, turning the grass silver for a short moment, making the flowers glow as if tiny stars had settled on their petals, the trees around them shook.

Then—

Crack

The first crack appeared.

Kael’s heart skipped a beat at that.

And as if that was the cue—

Crack.

Another crack appeared.

Then another.

Then another.

And one more.

Golden-silver light seeped through the lines, the Egg’s heartbeat grew louder.

Ba-dump Ba-dump Ba-dump

It synchronised with Kael’s own heartbeat, Kael gulped as he looked at it.

Then, the Egg shook.

Crack Crack Crack.

And one by one, the pieces of its shell started falling.

What surprised Kael was that the shell pieces didn’t fall on the ground, right before they hit the ground, each piece turned into tiny motes of silver light, then moved back toward the Egg and disappeared.

Yes, the child devoured even the shell it came from.

It was... quite the greedy little thing.

Kael chuckled at that thought, he and all his children around him waited for the little thing to come out.

And as if answering their wait, a small claw came out of the egg.

It was adorable.

Very adorable.

But the instant Kael saw it, he felt something strange.

That small claw looked soft and weak because it belonged to a newborn, but Kael could feel it.

It wasn’t weak.

It was nowhere near weak.

Kael looked at it, he really wanted to use Eye of the Ancient to see the stats right at this moment, but he stopped himself.

That wasn’t important right now.

Watching his child come out of his shell was.

Soon, another claw came out, Kael smiled at that, the little claws pushed against the shell, they were clearly struggling, for a moment, Kael wanted to help but he could see how much the little thing inside the egg was doing its best.

He didn’t wish to ruin that.

So he watched.

The newborn pushed, then stopped as if he needed time to recover, then he pushed again. Kael couldn’t help but smile at how absolutely adorable it was.

The little thing struggled for about half a minute, then, the small claws pushed again and this time, a larger piece of the shell broke apart.

And finally—

A little head came out.

Kael froze at the sight.

The newborn Dragon stared at Kael with his large, bright, warm golden eyes.

For a few seconds, neither of them moved, then—

"Kyra..."

Then the little Dragon opened its mouth and made a tiny sound, melting Kael’s heart right at that instant.

He...

He really was a sucker for cuties.

And this one—

This one was very very adorable.
