Doomsday Life Simulator System In A Zombie Apocalypse World Update Era
Chapter 463: The Light Bearer Path
Hearing Zayne’s words, Jade nodded, "That’s true. But at least the Monthly Apocalypse World Update Era has the advantage of allowing possession of multiple power systems."
"This benefits us a lot, since our power rank advantage over other Terran Survivors means that we could acquire the power system a lot earlier than them. In this case, we’ve even acquired those resources related to the Perpetual Darkness and the Light Bearer Path from Elas."
The resources that Zayne and Jade had acquired from the Elf World were quite abundant. Although it wasn’t relatively high-end, it was merely due to the Elf World only experiencing two years of Perpetual Darkness.
Moreover, Zayne and Jade didn’t mind, since they intended to get an introduction to the Light Bearer power system.
Whether it was the resources they’ve received, as well as Elas’s introduction and explanation about the Perpetual Darkness World, both Zayne and Jade were already familiar with how the Light Bearer Path worked.
The entry to the Light Bearer Path was less straightforward than the Virus Evolution Path.
In the Virus Evolution Path, an Evolver merely had to have sufficient zombie virus resistance and then contract the zombie virus. After their body adapted to the zombie virus, their body would evolve and awaken a viral superpower.
As for the Light Bearer Path, it was a lot more difficult for the average Terran Survivor to become one.
Unlike the Virus Evolution Path, whose path was straightforward, a Terran Survivor would have to achieve one vague condition before they could become a Light Bearer.
As its name suggested, a Light Bearer was someone who bore light. Due to this, to become a Light Bearer, one must find their own "light".
After discovering their light, the advancement of a Light Bearer’s power was dependent on how strong their light would eventually become. Such light must be powerful enough to not only dispel the darkness, but also be unaffected by the corruption of the Perpetual Darkness.
If a Light Bearer failed to keep their light’s brightness and it completely dimmed, they’d fall into darkness, degenerating into a Dark Monster.
Of course, it wasn’t due to the Light Bearer Path having that disadvantage or time bomb ticking within it. It was merely due to the progression of the Light Bearer Path needing constant exposure to darkness.
Otherwise, if it was just normal dimming of one’s light, like falling into despair or mental insanity, the Light Bearer wouldn’t necessarily become a Dark Monster.
Discovering one’s light was deeply personal. It was something tied to one’s belief, ideal, or basically anything that was related to a person’s core.
To become a Light Bearer, aside from naturally discovering one’s light, most people would require falling into darkness and finding their light there, using it to combat the darkness.
But for both Zayne and Jade, it was almost impossible for them to experience that. After all, they were too powerful.
Due to this, their most reliable method of becoming a Light Bearer was naturally discovering their light.
With their comprehension as a Half-Step Primordial Human, that was relatively easy for both Zayne and Jade.
With this in mind, it didn’t take long for Jade and Zayne to find their light and enter the Spark rank in the Light Bearer Path!
In fact, it even took Jade a lot quicker to become a Light Bearer than Zayne, since it wasn’t difficult for her to find her light.
For a more rational and pragmatic person like Zayne, it took him a bit more time than Jade to do something this idealistic.
Nevertheless, Jade extended her index finger, and a flickering light was created on it; then it disappeared. The light was quite unstable, going on and off uncontrollably.
Just as its name suggested, it was merely a spark. However, it was the first power rank within the Light Bearer Path, which was the starting point for those who discovered their light.
To further advance this spark into a firefly, a Light Bearer must induce darkness to test the light’s brightness when up against the corruption of Perpetual Darkness.
The most common method was to consume the meat of a Dark Monster and refine it, using the refined essence as fuel to make the light burn brighter.
Regardless, Jade was glad that she stepped into the Light Bearer Path earlier than Zayne.
Looking at Zayne with a hint of competitiveness, Jade chuckled, "Hehe! Darling! I’ve reached the Spark rank!"
"It was quite easy for me. You are the light of my existence, so I only have to visualize and affirm that you are my light."
"To ensure that my light won’t dim, you have to stay alive for me, darling~!"
Hearing Jade’s words, even Zayne couldn’t keep a straight face and remain indifferent.
After all, who wouldn’t be moved, knowing that someone had loved him this much and was this devoted?
Zayne didn’t know about other people, but he definitely wasn’t that indifferent, especially when it came to his lover.
He reassured Jade, "You don’t have to worry. I value my life a lot, so I won’t die before you."
"If the two of us ever encounter a situation where it’s completely hopeless and there’s no way out, dying together wouldn’t be that bad. Although I would have regrets of not reaching my full potential, I still am satisfied with the time I’ve spent with you."
"We’ve already lived and loved each other for more than a mortal human’s lifetime, so I’d be content regardless."
Although Zayne believed that encountering such a situation was unlikely, especially with the Doomsday Life Simulator System’s last resort, he still meant what he said.
The time he had spent with Jade in the Second Doomsday Life Simulation and Third Doomsday Life Simulation had left him somewhat content.
After all, what he achieved so far was already more than what most people could ever achieve in their lives.
At the least, most people couldn’t become an Initial Divine rank powerhouse, let alone have a wife who loved them this much.
The quantity of life he experienced was debatable, but the quality of it was undeniable.
