Chapter 459: Transaction Between Zayne And Elas

As the Magic Council President, Elas didn’t handle the day-to-day operations of the Magic Council and mostly left it to the Magic Council Elders.

But in serious times like this one, where the elf race had to communicate with the strongest from another world, Elas completely took matters into his own hands and decided everything.

The Elven Magic Council Elders didn’t refuse, since even if their Magic Path was impure, they weren’t blind and could still discern Zayne’s power and status as a World Class Mage.

To be honest, even Zayne hadn’t expected them to be this cooperative. From his estimations, there should have at least been one or a few elders who’d foolishly act to contradict Elas’s every decision.

But from the looks of it, this elf race’s higher-ups were relatively united in important matters such as this one.

’It’s likely due to Elas’s status as the strongest, and the fact that he had given them freedom in operating the Magic Council on most occasions. So in important matters like this one, the least they could do was cooperate, especially when it concerned the entire survival of their elf race.’

While Zayne had such thoughts, Elas soon introduced the royal treasury to him, "As you can see, all of the items are placed within storage chests. But with your means, whether it’s the treasures in the outer area, you’ve also detected the ones in the inner area, right?"

Hearing Elas’s words, Zayne nodded, "Indeed. As I’ve mentioned before, I possess very special eyes. Seeing through these restrictions is as easy as them not existing at all."

Both Zayne and Jade could easily see through the items stored within each treasure chest due to their XX-rank All Seeing Eyes.

Moreover, the two of them had been using their hint-related talents to acquire more information about each item, to determine which ones were useful for them.

Elas was unaware of that, so he introduced, "As you can see, all items in the outer area are all those we’ve collected over the two years that Perpetual Darkness had occurred in this world."

"As for the inner area of the treasury, it’s mostly those items that have been naturally generated in this world before the Perpetual Darkness occurred. It contains not only magic-related items, but also ancient artifacts that contain the heritage of our elf race’s entire history."

"I presume with your power, you don’t need the items in the inner area?"

Regarding Elas’s probing, Zayne replied nonchalantly. "You are correct. My lover and I were only interested in this world due to it experiencing the longest Perpetual Darkness among the several worlds that we have access to, via our world’s spatial gates."

"As for the magic-related items in this world, rest assured, they’re completely useless to us. If it was useful to mages of our rank, you all wouldn’t be stuck at Ten Circle Mage and would have already become a World Class Mage long ago."

Hearing Zayne’s words that were blunt and straightforward, Elas wasn’t offended. In fact, he was glad that the items in the inner area weren’t useful to Zayne and Jade.

After all, Elas was already prepared to give away all items in the outer area since they’ve been collecting dust in their royal treasury.

He had already planned to use those items related to the Perpetual Darkness as a bargaining chip to acquire important magic-related items from Zayne, as it concerned the elf race’s survival as a magic-based civilization.

If Zayne were to plunder all items they have in the royal treasury’s inner area, the Elf World would be completely stagnant for centuries to come.

After all, most magic-related resources that could be acquired naturally in the Elf World were no longer as abundant as before. The natural environment of the Elf World had been corrupted by the Perpetual Darkness, causing some very rare and naturally occurring resources to be practically extinct.

If not for the royal treasury’s inner area containing a few copies of those items, they would have long become extinct.

Moreover, if not for the Elf Country’s Light Beacon driving out the Perpetual Darkness within the lands it illuminated, those magic herbs and such would have long gone extinct.

In response to Zayne’s straightforward words, Elas breathed a sigh of relief, not hiding his true feelings regarding that issue. "That’s great. To be honest, even if you want everything here, I can’t stop you from taking all of them."

"But since you’re interested in items related to the Perpetual Darkness, I can use all of the treasures in the outer area as my bargaining chips."

"The magic books you’ve given us are enough to allow Ten Circle Mages to appear among the elders and talented Nine Circle Mages. Not to mention, even I have hope of reaching World Class Mage thanks to you."

Faced with Elas’s combination of honesty and flattery, Zayne merely nodded, "Then don’t mind if I do. Everything in the treasury’s outer area is useful to me, so I’ll take it all."

Waving his hand, Zayne stored all of the treasure chests from the treasury’s outer area into his system inventory.

Of course, since he wasn’t plundering the elf country’s treasury like a thief, he didn’t steal the valuable furniture and lighting, and didn’t dig out the tiles as he would usually do.

If Elas knew what Zayne had been thinking, he would have been speechless. For a dignified World Class Mage like Zayne to have a history of acting like an unscrupulous bandit was too difficult for Elas to imagine.

After Zayne took all the treasure chests, he had already analyzed them and could easily replicate them with his Creation Sovereignty.

After all, the items related to the Perpetual Darkness might be his first time encountering them, but none of those items’ grades were at Celestial-grade, which made them very easy to recreate.

As for the matter of using those resources and the like, Zayne planned to do it when he and Jade had returned to Terra.

After receiving the items, Zayne snapped his fingers and created a magic storage pouch and tossed it to Elas, "Here’s my payment. All of the magic-related resources that your elf race needs are inside it."
