Chapter 2916 - 106: Harrison Lucas Is Wearing Way Too Much
Chapter 2916: Chapter 106: Harrison Lucas Is Wearing Way Too Much
Had Ben Lucas not been certain that the person before him was still Harrison Lucas, with ’his’ left shoulder stained with blood, and even the motion of cutting open the vest might cause the wound to bleed now and then, Ben Lucas would certainly suspect that the Harrison Lucas before him had been replaced.
Overcome with suspicion, Ben Lucas painstakingly unfastened the straps of the vest, slicing through the fabric piece by piece.
After cutting through four vests consecutively, Ben Lucas finally removed the four layers of binding from Harrison Lucas.
However—
With the vest removed, what appeared before him was an even stranger scene.
Harrison Lucas’s slender neck and narrow shoulders were now fully exposed in front of him.
Yet, as his gaze descended, he saw a strange piece of cloth wrapped around Harrison Lucas’s body.
The white cloth was like gauze, but somewhat thicker and broader than gauze, wrapped layer upon layer around Harrison Lucas.
It was only then that Ben Lucas suddenly recalled the strip of fabric Harrison Lucas had held after waking up that morning.
On that day, he wanted to ask Harrison Lucas about it, but was interrupted when Commander Nelson brought Jennifer Connor over, and in a fit of jealousy, he forgot about the matter.
Until today, when he and Harrison Lucas ended up in this cave halfway up the mountain, seeing Harrison Lucas wrapped in fabric, Ben Lucas remembered the incident.
The man’s deep black pupils settled on the circles of white cloth on Harrison Lucas’s back, instinct telling him it was no ordinary affair.
Before realizing his feelings, he had always considered Harrison Lucas his most loyal subordinate.
Until now, witnessing Harrison Lucas wear layer upon layer of vests under seemingly ordinary clothes, wrapped with several circles of cloth, Ben Lucas knew that his young subordinate had been hiding secrets and concealing matters from him.
This, however, was not the moment to probe the secrets.
The most important thing now was to tend to Harrison Lucas’s wound.
Once more, Ben Lucas used the tip of his knife to cut open the cloth wrapped around Harrison Lucas’s body.
The tightly bound layers of fabric split apart.
Finally, Harrison Lucas’s last restraints were severed, revealing the pale, frail back belonging to the ’youth’ completely in Ben Lucas’s view.
Harrison Lucas’s back was not like that of an ordinary military man; it was indeed rather slight.
Ben Lucas had occasionally seen Harrison Lucas’s back when he wore a vest in the past, having specifically reminded Harrison Lucas to exercise more, not to give up on himself due to injuries sustained in childhood affecting his development.
Yet seeing Harrison Lucas’s pale, delicate back now, Ben Lucas inexplicably felt parched.
Suppressing the strange feeling deep down, he directed all his focus to Harrison Lucas’s condition.
Luckily, with the bulletproof vest absorbing the impact, the bullet hadn’t lodged within the bone but remained nearer to the surface.
Two choices now lay before Ben Lucas.
First, ignore the bullet, simply disinfect Harrison Lucas’s wound and bandage him with gauze, then wait for rescue. Once they’re rescued, let the doctor extract the bullet from Harrison Lucas.
If they could be quickly found by military personnel, this would undoubtedly be the best course of action.
However, if rescue took long, the bullet could eventually press against the blood vessels, causing more severe bleeding over time.
Thus, Ben Lucas quickly made a decision, opting for the second choice—to personally remove the bullet from Harrison Lucas.
...
Ben Lucas was a man of action, once decided, he promptly executed his plan.
Despite him and Harrison Lucas having fallen off the cliff amidst pursuit, they at least carried essential first-aid kits while undertaking field tasks.
