Feng Ge was no ordinary ’person.’ She was the most talented female disciple of the Qingshan Sect and the youngest prodigy in the Xuan Technique World. It wasn’t in her nature to be scared witless by a sudden development.

When a powerful wave of Yin Qi swept toward her, she reacted in a flash, forming a hand seal and quickly hiding inside a willow tree.

The surge of Yin Qi wasn’t aimed at her; she had only been caught in its wake.

’What could have such immense Yin Qi?’

A dark figure appeared in the woods, its gait unsteady. It stumbled forward, collapsing before it even reached the willow tree where Feng Ge was hiding.

Curiosity isn’t exclusive to humans; ghosts have it too.

Feng Ge drifted over to the dark figure.

Judging by the shape, it was a man. Strangely, she couldn’t make out his face at all.

’Is it because my ’body’ is about to disappear?’

"He went that way! After him!" The shouts of brutish men echoed from a distance, followed by the sound of numerous footsteps running in her direction.

On some strange impulse, she found herself not wanting those men to find the man before her.

"FUCK—it’s a ghost wall! Who’s a virgin? Hurry up and take a piss!"

"No virgins? Not a single one?"

"You bunch of degenerates! You all act like saints day to day, but when it counts, not one of you can squeeze out a single drop of virgin piss."

A smirk touched Feng Ge’s lips, her earlier worries vanishing completely.

She was now just a remnant of a soul, her powers limited. She had worried she wouldn’t be able to stop these men, but it seemed she had been overthinking things.

The man on the ground suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Feng Ge.

’A residual soul?’

"Who are you?" The man’s voice seemed to be laced with ice, as cold as a Netherworld Rakshasa.

Feng Ge froze, staring at the man in disbelief. "You can see me?"

This was not a good feeling. The man could see her, but she couldn’t make out his face.

The man’s face was shrouded in a black mist, revealing nothing but darkness.

The man said nothing, merely staring at her coldly. "Why did you help me?"

’Looks like I was being nosy,’ she thought. This man was no ordinary person, nowhere near as weak as she had imagined.

Not wanting to say too much, she shrugged. "Consider it my mistake for getting involved. Just pretend you never saw me. Goodbye!"

’Goodbye, as in, we’ll never meet again!’

’After tonight, Feng Ge might no longer exist in this world. How could we possibly meet again?’

The man watched the residual soul drift away. He tried to reach out and grab her, but the movement sent a sharp pain through his chest, preventing him from summoning even a shred of Mana.

Feng Ge had just drifted out of the woods when a yin wind suddenly whipped up out of nowhere. The event was so sudden that her residual soul couldn’t maintain its form and was sent flying by the powerful gale.

She was like a fallen leaf tossed in a gale, tumbling and drifting with the yin wind. Only when she could no longer feel the slightest trace of yin power was she finally able to stabilize her form.

"Where am I?" Before her lay a mountain forest, a sea of lush green with an endless stretch of peaks.

The forest was thick with a gloomy Yin Qi; normal people would not appreciate such an eerie atmosphere.

But she wasn’t a normal person anymore, not even a ’person’ at all.

She liked this gloomy, eerie feeling. It was very comfortable.

If her soul weren’t incomplete, preventing her from cultivating into a Yin Ghost, she would have simply hidden away in this forest, cultivated a powerful Yin Ghost’s body, and returned to the Qingshan Sect for revenge.

The most pressing matter now was to find a suitable body as soon as possible, one to house her residual soul.

Just as she was about to leave the forest, the sound of sorrowful wailing reached her ears.

’Crying like that... has someone died?’

A flicker of joy sparked in Feng Ge’s heart, and she hurriedly drifted toward the sound.

A death meant a body was available for a soul to inhabit. If it were suitable, she could even be restored to life and live once more.

She no longer dared hope for a full return to life. She only wished to find a body that wouldn’t strongly reject her, a place to nurture her soul for a while until she could make it whole again.

The one crying in sorrow was a middle-aged woman; lying on the ground was a girl in the flower of her youth.

She watched the girl’s soul float out of her corpse. She was a very pretty girl.

The girl clearly didn’t want to die. She tried to return to her own body several times, but failed.

Just then, a yin wind gusted through the woods, and a Ghost Messenger in a white robe appeared before the girl.

The girl tried to flee, but how could she escape the Soul-Stabilizing Whip in the Ghost Messenger’s hand?

The girl struggled and shrieked, "Why are you taking me? Why?! I’m not dead yet! I refuse to accept this!"

The Ghost Messenger gazed coldly at the girl. "Your hour has come. If you don’t leave now, you won’t be able to enter the Reincarnation Path." He was speaking to the girl, but his eyes were looking at Feng Ge.

The girl saw Feng Ge as well. "Why aren’t you taking her? Why only me? Let me go!"

"Merely a wisp of a residual soul about to dissipate," the Ghost Messenger said, retracting his gaze. He then vanished into a black mist, dragging the girl along with him.
