Chapter 671: Chapter 663: You Really Think I Want to Bother With You
"Am I the one out of line, or are you? Amelia Avery, don’t forget you’re married to Cassian Jennings now!"
Amelia Avery shouted furiously at Ian Shaw, "Yes, I haven’t forgotten! I haven’t forgotten..."
"If you haven’t forgotten, then why were you too scared to let Cassian Jennings pick you up? Amelia Avery, you’re not a child anymore. Can’t you think about Cassian for once? He’s exhausted from cleaning up your messes every single day. No one expects you to be a perfect, dutiful wife, but you could at least tone it down. Stop causing trouble all the time."
"I cause trouble? Hah, you’re right. In everyone’s eyes, I’m just a troublemaker, born to cause problems." After her furious outburst at Ian Shaw, she clutched her handbag and ran off in tears.
Lucy, who was standing to the side, didn’t particularly like Amelia Avery, but seeing her run off so heartbroken, he asked anxiously, "Shaw, Ancestor Avery drank a lot. Do you think she’ll be okay?"
"So damn annoying!" Ian Shaw kicked a nearby door in frustration, then pulled out his phone and called Cassian Jennings.
The call connected instantly, and Cassian’s urgent voice came through the line. "Ian, you’re still up? Where are you? Can you help me find Amelia?"
"Cassian Jennings, for fuck’s sake, have some damn backbone! Just divorce that woman and be done with it." Hearing the desperation in Cassian’s voice, Ian Shaw’s anger boiled over.
"What are you talking about? I’m not divorcing Amelia."
"You’re looking for Amelia Avery? She just left Siren’s Night. She can’t be far. I’ll go out and stop her for you, but listen, Cassian Jennings—this is the last time I’m helping you!"
"Okay. Ian, listen. Whatever you do, keep an eye on her. Don’t let her run off again!"
Ian Shaw shoved his phone back into his pocket and sprinted toward the elevators.
When he got downstairs and out of Siren’s Night, he saw Amelia Avery sitting in her car, slumped over the steering wheel, crying.
Thinking back, this was probably the most heartbroken Ian Shaw had ever seen Amelia Avery.
The harsh words Ian Shaw had been about to yell suddenly caught in his throat.
He strode over. Just as he reached the car, Amelia Avery jerked her head up. She hastily wiped away her tears, ready to shut the door and drive off.
Seeing this, Ian Shaw shot his hand out and grabbed the door. "What the hell do you think you’re doing?" he demanded, his voice cold and annoyed.
"Whatever I do is none of your business. Ian Shaw, not even my own brother gets to control me, so what right do you have to interfere?"
"Hah, as if I actually want to deal with you." He was no Cassian Jennings.
Her eyes red and swollen, Amelia Avery said in a firm, cold voice, "Since you don’t, then let go."
Ian Shaw acted as if he hadn’t heard her. Instead of letting go, he reached in and forcefully dragged Amelia Avery out of the car.
Amelia Avery was startled by Ian Shaw’s sudden action. No matter how harsh his words had been in the past, he’d never laid a hand on her.
She struggled fiercely, refusing to go with Ian Shaw.
Finally out of patience, Ian Shaw raised his hand and brought it down in a sharp chop to the back of Amelia Avery’s neck.
Unfortunately, the blow knocked Amelia Avery out cold, and she went limp. But Cassian Jennings arrived just in time to see it happen.
Cassian Jennings slammed his car to a stop and ran toward them. Staring at the woman in Ian Shaw’s arms, he roared, "Ian Shaw, are you fucking insane?!"
"Insane? Cassian Jennings, who the hell do you think I’m doing this for?! This woman wouldn’t listen. Was it wrong to knock her out for a bit to get her to quiet down?"
