Divine Level Witch Doctor
Chapter 595 - 595: The Furious Ant Queen
Soon, the moderators of the Cultivator Forum learned of the matter. Just like last time, not only did they pin Zhao Yuan's post, moving it to the most prominent position, but they also changed the forum's background image to the list of addresses it contained.
This, in turn, allowed even more people to see the new address post Zhao Yuan had published.
Soon, all other discussions on the Cultivator Forum vanished. Every single post was about clamoring for teammates to form parties and hunt down the nearest group of Ant Thieves.
Members of the major families and large Sects, in particular, immediately organized their family members and fellow disciples, rushing to the new addresses published in the post. They wanted to catch the Ant Thieves off guard before they got the news and had a chance to relocate again!
And Zhao Yuan's suspicions were correct.
There were indeed members of the Ant Thieves hiding within the Cultivator Forum.
These people had set up a special alert for the "Small Witch Meets Big Witch" account. The moment he logged on to the forum and made the post, he was discovered by the spies for the Ant Thieves. After seeing the content of the post, these spies were all scared out of their wits!
Not even these rank-and-file members of the Ant Thieves knew the addresses of the others after they had all scattered and relocated. However, while they didn't know anyone else's new address, they certainly knew their own. When they saw their own location listed in the post, it made their blood run cold.
"Who the hell is this damn Small Witch Meets Big Witch?!"
Cries of shock and roars of anger erupted from the mouths of these Ant Thieves. They all scrambled to report the news of Small Witch Meets Big Witch's reappearance, along with the contents of the address post, to their superiors.
After being passed up through the chain of command, the contents of the address post soon reached the hands of the Ant Thieves' upper echelon.
Unlike the low- and mid-level members, the twelve leaders of the Ant Thieves had a perfect grasp of every member's new address after the relocation.
Therefore, when they saw the post, the shock they felt was far greater than that of the ordinary members! The leader of the Ant Thieves immediately summoned them for a video conference.
Unlike the other high-level members, whose faces appeared on the computer screen, the video feed for the Ant Thieves' leader was pitch-black; she had only enabled her microphone, not her camera.
The high-level leaders of the Ant Thieves were long accustomed to this. Even among the twelve of them, very few had ever actually seen their leader in person. Most had only ever heard her voice!
The leader of the Ant Thieves was not just a mystery to outsiders; she was one to her own people as well.
Even the high-level leaders only knew that their leader was a woman, code-named the Ant Queen, and that she was incredibly powerful. The specific realm of her cultivation, however, was a secret. They knew even less about her beyond that. Normally, the Ant Queen had her most trusted lieutenants appear on her behalf to handle the organization's internal affairs.
"Speak. Who the hell leaked this list of addresses?!"
Although they couldn't see the Ant Queen, from the way she ground out her words, it was clear she was in a state of absolute fury.
The twelve leaders looked at one another, none daring to make a sound. They had no idea what to say!
Seeing their silence, the Ant Queen grew even angrier. Her voice dripped with Killing Qi as she said, "Why the silence? Have you all gone mute? The addresses in that post are incredibly detailed and perfectly accurate—someone obviously leaked them! And that person is among you! Because only I, and the twelve of you, knew all the new addresses."
At this, the twelve leaders had no choice but to speak. They all began swearing to the heavens that they were not the one who leaked the information!
The Ant Queen didn't believe their oaths in the slightest. She snorted coldly. "I'll find out who the traitor is soon enough. And when I do, I will torture them until they wish they were dead! I'll make them understand just how foolish a decision it was to betray me and the entire colony!"
Hearing this, all twelve leaders trembled. They hastily tried to speak up and profess their innocence again, but the Ant Queen cut them off before they could even get a word out.
"Enough. Stop talking. I won't listen to your excuses, much less believe them! What you need to do now is get your subordinates moving. Relocate, and minimize our losses! Also, track the IP address of that Small Witch Meets Big Witch post immediately! Send an elite team and bring him to me! Remember, I want him alive! I'm going to make him tell me who the real traitor is!"
In front of their own subordinates, the twelve leaders were all powerful figures who threw their weight around. But before the Ant Queen, they were nothing more than errand boys to be ordered about.
Not daring to voice any objection, they all accepted their orders and went to make the arrangements. The Ant Queen, for her part, ended the video conference and prepared to relocate as well.
As she left, she commanded into the darkness beside her, "Send out the Ghost Ants. I want them watching those twelve leaders twenty-four hours a day. Monitor their every move and every word! I want to know who has the audacity to betray me!"
"As you command!" a sinister voice replied from the darkness.
Not long after the Ant Queen had left, a group of Cultivators arrived at the location. Finding it completely empty, they were frustrated to no end.
"Damn it, those Ant Thief bastards got away!"
One of the more observant members noticed the coffee on the table was still hot and quickly said, "These guys must have seen the post on the Cultivator Forum and ran off because they got spooked. But they can't have gotten far—this coffee is still hot. Let's split up and search! Signal the others the moment you find anything!"
"Right!"
"Let's do it!"
The Cultivators immediately split into several teams and began to search the surrounding area.
At the same time, the computer experts within the Ant Thieves' organization were also trying to trace the location of Zhao Yuan's post.
However, Zhao Yuan had used several proxies before posting. No matter how skilled the Ant Thieves' tech experts were, tracing his actual address would not be easy!
Besides, even if they did eventually trace it, it would be useless. Zhao Yuan had posted from an internet cafe, and he hadn't used his real face or identity!
Catching him would be easier said than done.
Although Zhao Yuan didn't witness it firsthand, he could easily imagine the Ant Thieves' panic and disarray.
So, he was in an excellent mood after leaving the train station.
Still, Zhao Yuan decided to take more precautions. He resolved that for his next post, he wouldn't upload it from anywhere in Rongcheng City. He would have to go to a different city to avoid letting the Ant Thieves discover he was in Rongcheng, which would allow them to narrow their search.
Humming a little tune, Zhao Yuan hailed a taxi and headed for his rented apartment in University City.
