Chapter 4872 Imposing The Heart
Chapter 4872 Imposing The Heart
"…"
Davis nearly flinched. He was utterly taken aback by Jiayi Crystalveil's actions.
His expression went solemn, and he was about to ask what happened. He definitely didn't like anyone bullying his subordinates. However, it seemed like she didn't want this matter to be explored. For an astute and calm woman like Jiayi Crystalveil to be completely out of options, he knew the matter wasn't simply to tackle.
Davis walked up to her and bent to raise her up as he grabbed her shoulders gently.
"Jiayi Crystalveil, you have always been a boon to my family until this point. I don't know what's haunting you, but since you don't want to talk about it, I'll respect your wishes. I'll give you some more time to think. If you want to leave, let me know, and I'll erase your memories of our current interaction and past secretive deals. Finally, that will be the end of our business relationship, which you wanted to carry out so much."
Jiayi Crystalveil's golden pupils quivered as she looked at him.
She couldn't tell if he was telling a lie only to end her life, but it sounded so good that she wanted to believe it. She bit her lips, not expecting a so-called evil entity to be so understanding. She even wanted to hug him for giving her a way out, but she restrained herself and shook her head.
"I'm greedy and prepared to die, but my risks were calculated. I don't deal with business deals that have no way out, so I hope you'll understand what I'm doing without any explanation. I still want to continue this relationship, for I still think I have a way out, but I need to ensure a few things happen. If you aren't okay with this, at least let me reincarnate peacefully."
Jiayi Crystalveil voiced out, her tone firm yet pleading at the end as she raised her arms and cupped her hands, her shoulders trembling.
Davis looked at her closely with a calm expression before he nodded.
"Alright, you do as you please. As long as you don't betray us, you will always be my ally and be under the Davis Family's protection."
He patted her shoulder and turned around to leave.
Jiayi Crystalveil watched him leave. Her gaze turned complicated as she inwardly swore to give him more profits. She had never seen such an understanding man, nearly making her feel strange, but she was aware she was vulnerable at this moment and prone to making mistakes.
She slowly walked away.
Jiayi Crystalveil found herself some solace in her bedroom and began to write two letters, one for herself and the other for Fairy Retribution. Despite her initial panic, she appeared completely calm yet solemn, writing a concise script.
[Jiayi Crystalveil, if you're reading this letter and couldn't remember when you wrote it, that means I have succeeded in erasing my memories of the past few hours. Don't explore it. Don't dig it. At this stage, you will easily die and even fail to enter reincarnation. Remember to stay away from the inheritor of the Retribution Sword Autarch. Burn this letter after you have read it.]
She looked at the letter to herself and placed her seal on it, neatly wrapping it up.
Then she wrote the letter to Fairy Retribution and had her little brother send it to her, but before that, she erased his memories of the Divine Emperor of Death even being here.
========
Outside, Davis sat on top of a rooftop, vaguely surveying the street. He had just gotten the gist of the violation attempt and assassination attempt from Ragoon Crystalveil before the latter went up and later returned looking confused.
Davis could instantly tell his memories of today had been erased quite a bit.
However, Davis knew erasing memories wasn't something permanent. It could reawaken anytime since memories were part of many physical souls. His memories were also erased or sealed by Fallen Heaven regarding the events of the Archons, but he had no wish to know of it yet, wanting to deal with the current issues first.
He recalled Lady Thunderwraith's words of the seven physical souls and the three spiritual souls.
There was much to explore, and Davis felt that his improvement in the soul could lie there in this stage.
Nonetheless, he appeared quite amused.
'Most likely, Fairy Retribution has threatened Jiayi Crystalveil. I wonder what kind of background she has to threaten my merchant and make her be afraid to this degree, making her think she has no way out…'
Davis wanted to beat Fairy Retribution up, but with Jiayi Crystalveil begging him to stay out of it and him giving his word, he felt hesitant.
'But neither she nor I said others couldn't take action…'
Davis gazed down from the rooftop, but he turned to look aside.
Someone landed beside him, not even knowing he was there. It was a black-robed man with a hood concealing their features.
'Another assassin… hehe… you'll be prey to my first experiment - State of Divine Possession: Karmic Impersonation!'
Davis reached out his hand.
So far, using the Karmic Impersonation Technique, Davis had only been able to assume himself as another person using their dead soul essence.
Later on, using the Karmic Identity Usurpation Technique that he had based on the principles of learning the past, becoming the present, and predicting the future, and the Karmic Impersonation Technique, he was able to rob a person of themselves, of their identity, and usurp their fate. But the prerequisite was using the scarlet thread.
Now, he felt like he might not need the scarlet thread of the Scarlet Destiny Spindle.
His Heart Intent that had reached the level of State of Divine Possession could be used as a substitute to directly overpower their Will and possess them, and thereby, come to know of their past!
=========
Fairy Retribution sent Ragoon Crystalveil out after receiving the letter.
She looked at his back with an amused look before opening the letter.
[Fairy Retribution, I can't accept your friendship, but please don't force me to join the Divine Emperor of Death. I can't afford to offend both parties. My life is like that of an ant between two giants, easily trampled on. I would have erased my memories by the time this letter reaches your reading table, so allow me to remain neutral and make my wealth. At this stage, I am not greedy for extreme profits above my limits. If at all you want to force me- then I guess it's at least fair to take some lives with me along with my death like yours, and make the conflict between the two families truly irreversible until either party ceases to exist.]
Fairy Retribution's lips parted as she saw the letter burn shortly. She looked both amused and solemn.
"What an enormous threat… it seems like she has more of a connection to the Divine Emperor of Death than we expected…"
"Young Miss, you're playing with fire."
A voice resounded from the void in the chamber, causing Fairy Retribution to flinch, her expression as though she was a cat whose tail stepped on. She displayed a bit of embarrassment before giggling.
"Guardian Elder, so you have managed to find me…"
The voice boomed again, "The Divine Emperor of Death isn't something the likes of you can deal with, even indirectly. Even your grandfather's undefeatable Covenant, which holds many divinities in their place, was broken by him. What's more- he isn't injured at all, even managing to escape the siege of three Venerable Knights in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm."
"Already that powerful!?" Fairy Retribution nearly gawked, her lips parting in shock.
"Well, he seemed to have had some helpers from what I learned while I searched for you- please don't sneak out again." The voice paused occasionally, "Yes- he has escaped them. From what I know, they're currently searching for him. Even the Realm Master of the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm seemed to have joined, but there is no luck in finding him yet. But- it takes some time for information to travel, so it is possible that he has already been captured and sealed."
"Somehow, I doubt that." Fairy Retribution giggled, "The only one to capture and seal him would be my grandfather, but the one to pinpoint the forces to him would be me."
She imagined opening the door to her forces and pointing at the Divine Emperor of Death on the other side of the room, her expression smug.
"Young Miss, it's time to leave."
"Eh? So soon?" Fairy Retribution appeared disappointed.
The voice boomed out firmly, "It is a summons we can't ignore since every member of the Archus Family is called back. After all, I received word that the Supreme One's Second Daughter has awakened from a long, deep sleep lasting millions of years. This could only mean one thing."
"What?" Fairy Retribution nearly jumped, "Isn't that- that trash Zhao Yan, who kept poor aunt waiting for so-so long? He managed to return to the True Immortal World from being lost in the Elemental Dimension Secret Realm!?"
