Chapter 880 - 879: Revival Plan
Chapter 880: Chapter 879: Revival Plan
In the living room of No. 66 Wutong Road, Hu Li, having eaten and drunk her fill, lay comfortably on the sofa and stretched lazily. Then she flipped over and hugged one of her big tails, lightly biting it while looking contemplative.
Erin lay on the floor next to her, seemingly with a blank mind after watching too many short plays. After a long pause, she suddenly blurted out: "xxx (some short play male lead’s name) is an amateur!"
With a buzzing sound, Luna pushed the vacuum cleaner over. As she passed through the middle of the living room, she casually picked Erin up and put her on the coffee table: "Make way, you’re blocking the path."
Erin was probably used to this, so she wasn’t angry. Instead, she accelerated towards the sofa from the coffee table, landing directly among Hu Li’s fluffy big tails and poked her head out: "Why hasn’t Yu Sheng returned yet?"
"Savior has important things to do," Hu Li took her tail out of her mouth and casually pulled out a brush from it, brushing the fur haphazardly, "Speaking of which, why are you always burrowing in my tails? Don’t complain later if your joints get stuck in the fluff."
"Ugh, so boring..." Erin pretended not to hear the second half of Hu Li’s sentence and rolled around among the fluffy big tails like a restless cat, repeating again, "Why hasn’t Yu Sheng returned yet..."
Finally, Luna, who was cleaning beside them, couldn’t help it; she put down her tools, stood with hands on her hips, and looked at the two on the sofa — one busy brushing tails, the other busy rolling in tails: "I just cleaned!"
Upon hearing this, Hu Li quickly put the brush away, intending to comb her fur later when she returns to her room. At that moment, her ears twitched as she heard footsteps coming from the second floor.
The fox girl’s eyes lit up instantly, and she turned her head towards the stairs and ran: "Savior is back!"
The Little Puppet exclaimed "Oh my!" as it got flipped out and spun several times before landing on the ground with a "plop": "Silly fox, are you crazy!"
Yu Sheng, who had just returned from Valhalla, skillfully caught the Nine-Tailed Fox that had crashed into him. He rubbed the fur behind its ears while walking towards the living room, casually saying: "Why aren’t you all asleep?"
"Waiting for you to return," Erin climbed onto the coffee table, hands on her hips, "How’s your situation? What’s the mysterious old lady’s reaction?"
Yu Sheng was slightly startled by the question: "Why not the mysterious closed-eyed woman?"
Erin: "Didn’t she open her eyes..."
"...With your habit of giving nicknames, you’re bound to get beat up sometime, I’m telling you," Yu Sheng said as he sat down on the sofa, organizing his thoughts before speaking, "What could her reaction be? She’s... well, quite excited. After all, she thought all her people were extinct, and now there’s hope for some to return, although only part of them might be able to."
"Why did you wait until now to tell her?" Erin looked up, "After all, you ’ate’ the moon from the beginning..."
"Well, wasn’t I unsure back then," Yu Sheng shook his head, "I only devoured the Blood Moon at the time, and I wasn’t confident if it really preserved the original information constituting the Blood Moon inside, nor was I sure if I could truly separate them — if it all turned out empty, I feared Red would go crazy again, and that would be far too irresponsible."
Hearing this, Hu Li squinted her eyes happily: "Savior is always thorough in his work~"
Seeing this, Erin showed a disdainful expression: "Ugh... Silly fox, you look like a dog..."
However, Hu Li pretended not to hear, merely delightedly rubbing Yu Sheng’s back with her tail, then suddenly seemed to notice something: "But looking at your reaction, it wasn’t that smooth, was it?"
Hearing Hu Li’s words, Yu Sheng involuntarily adopted a slightly serious expression.
"...Indeed, the situation is trickier than I thought," he nodded gently, "Although Rosaline’s ’matrix’ successfully separated the Dark Moon People’s information, the stability of those Spiritual Bodies is far below my expectations... I spoke rather euphemistically in front of Red, but ultimately, it’s because they were extracted from apocalyptic remnants. Even reconstructing them lacks a stable anchor."
Erin blinked attentively, trying to think it over but not quite understanding: "...What does that mean?"
"Water without a source, duckweed without roots," Hu Li said casually, "Isn’t it that we still have to think of a way to give them a physical body in the real world? Contacting the material world can strengthen the connection between information. As they said, the more ethereal the method, the more it needs a foundation. The path of the Tao rests in the Taixu, dwelling in heaven and earth... Anyway, that’s what the teacher at the academy used to say."
Erin was stunned by this: "...Wait, silly fox, have you really only graduated from elementary school?"
Hu Li: "I didn’t graduate from elementary school."
"Indeed, we first need to solve the ’physical carrier’ problem," Yu Sheng interrupted them, "My original plan was to slowly adjust the Dark Moon People’s Spiritual Bodies in Valhalla using the special environment of the Soul Wilderness. Once their Spirit Bodies are initially stable, I’d consider transferring them to reality. But now it seems necessary to reverse this — solving the physical carrier first. Only then can their souls possibly stabilize."
"Oh, now I get it," Erin shuffled to the edge of the coffee table, "So basically, you have to give them bodies... That’s easy, find some second-hand scientists to turn them into mechanical girls..."
"No, can you think of something else?"
Yu Sheng used his fingers to push Erin’s head back, while she flailed about and shouted: "It’s a metaphor, just a saying — after all, there are a bunch of production lines with those second-hand scientists now, creating some shells doesn’t take much effort..."
"It’s not like you can just create some blank bodies and use them," Yu Sheng said helplessly, "Compatibility is a problem. You know how complex souls are, especially those fragile spiritual bodies restored from heaps of data remnants. Do you think they are like your mass-produced machines, fashioned from two pounds of clay into human shapes that stand up and walk upright?"
Erin sat cross-legged on the coffee table, arms folded: "Then why not try cloning or synthesis technology? Anyway, when we were researching changing shells for C-type buckles, we did plenty of preparatory work."
"Fundamentally, it’s the same thing; compatibility issues cannot be solved," Yu Sheng shook his head. "The key is that Red’s ’Dark Moon People’ are fundamentally derivatives of Dark Angels, originally incompatible with this world. Even if we register them officially, there will still be some aftereffects. Therefore, any physical shells manufactured in the real world might conflict with the souls of Dark Moon People..."
Erin blinked, suddenly enlightened: "Wait, by that logic, I’m still half an Omen Goddess. You see, when I switch bodies..."
"Whichever you choose shrinks to 66 centimeters, right?"
"...Yu Sheng, you jerk!"
Yu Sheng pinned down the clawing Little Puppet, sighing: "See, compatibility is this troublesome, and even one is already so hard to deal with."
"Or ask the Captain for help?" Hu Li suddenly suggested, "After all, he solved many compatibility issues when this Universe was born."
Yu Sheng thought carefully but still shook his head lightly.
"I don’t plan to bother him with this matter; he’s already overwhelmed with the World Engine. Besides..."
Yu Sheng halted here, not finishing his sentence.
He recalled the mountain of dreadful code he saw at the Universe’s information base level, thinking it’s better not to touch it—this Universe is running on the sheer power of belief and thought alone. Reconstructing the underlying World code to solve compatibility issues for a race, if something big crashes, the fun will be immense.
At this moment, previously flapping around on the coffee table, Erin suddenly quieted down. The Little Puppet seemed to have thought of something, spinning its head 180 degrees to look at Yu Sheng: "Hey, why not try the Old Tree?"
The sight of the puppet’s head rotating 180 degrees was a bit eerie, and Yu Sheng nearly thought the little thing wanted to bite his hand, but he quickly reacted: "Old Tree? You mean..."
"The issue now is that the shells we’ve fashioned with our world’s materials are likely incompatible with the souls of ’Dark Moon People.’ So if we can find something compatible with them, wouldn’t that solve it," Erin rambled while maintaining the head-spinning position, "Think about it, didn’t the Dark Moon Royal Court already pollute the Old Tree? So, on the flip side, the Old Tree might have ’absorbed’ part of the Dark Moon Royal Court’s characteristics..."
The Little Puppet propped itself up, squeezed out from under Yu Sheng’s large hand, and continued as it twisted its head back to the correct angle: "The biggest problem for Dark Moon People is they currently lack physical forms, but the Old Tree has one. It’s such a massive presence standing tall on Sky Island..."
Yu Sheng listened in a daze, frowning in puzzlement: "Specifically, how to operate..."
"The Old Tree has the ability to nurture life," Erin lifted a finger and waved it in front of Yu Sheng, with a smug smile (though who knows what’s there to be smug about), "Yu Sheng, do you know? Back in the day, the Old Tree independently nurtured an entire ecological system. At that time, it was known as the Eternal Holy Tree..."
Erin paused, a rare expression of reflection appeared on the palm-sized face.
"It has many stories... many, many stories."
For a moment, the surroundings turned a bit quiet. Erin puzzledly looked around, only to find Yu Sheng, Hu Li, and Luna staring directly at her.
"Wha, what?" The Little Puppet felt uncomfortable, "Why are you all staring at me?"
"Are you really a kindergarten correspondence course student?" Yu Sheng’s expression was odd, "It feels like these words aren’t something you could say."
Erin thought about it but couldn’t figure it out.
But she felt Yu Sheng might be complimenting her, so she proudly puffed out her chest.
Yu Sheng then clapped his hands: "Alright, then this plan is settled. Let’s rest today, and tomorrow morning we’ll go talk to the Old Tree."
"Alright!"
Erin nodded happily and then targeted Hu Li’s tail and jumped inside, a moment later snoring evenly amid the fluffy fur.
Yu Sheng: "..."
Truly enviable sleep talent, one must say.
