Chapter 390: Chapter 213: Profound Yellow’s Twin Prodigies, Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe

Taixuan Profound True Monarch said, "You have already forged a Primordial Spirit. Why do you still wish to join my Taixuan Orthodox Sect?"

Wansha Daoist replied, "I cultivate orthodox methods and have learned the ways of propriety. I have long admired the path of the profound, but I have always sought it in vain."

"Today, by a stroke of fate, I encountered the True Monarch’s opportunity. As they say, the willing take the bait. I have come specifically to seek an audience with you, True Monarch."

Taixuan Profound True Monarch said leisurely, "If that is the case, then go and bring order to the West Sea for me for five hundred years to atone for your past sins. After that, you may join my Taixuan Orthodox Sect as a Guest Minister. Accumulate merit for another five hundred years, and you may sit before me and listen to my teachings on the Dao."

Wansha Daoist’s heart sank at first, but upon hearing the final part, he was overjoyed. "Thank you for your grace, True Monarch!"

Taixuan Profound True Monarch waved his hand. "You may go."

Wansha Daoist could hardly wait. He performed another deep bow, and with a sway of his body, vanished from sight.

Taixuan Profound True Monarch cast his fishing rod back into the pool before turning to glance at Xuzhuang.

This sudden interlude seemed to have no effect on Xuzhuang whatsoever. His eyes remained lightly closed, but a hazy, bright light emanated from behind his head, shining out for three feet, looking as if it was about to condense into a divine wheel.

This was the sign of the Daluo Spirit Light operating at its absolute peak. Taixuan Profound True Monarch nodded slightly, thinking, ’His composure is quite good.’

Just as he was about to turn his gaze back to the pool, a wisp of purple qi suddenly rose from within Xuzhuang’s Daluo Spirit Light. It swirled and flowed, transforming endlessly. Taixuan Profound True Monarch wasn’t surprised, merely smiling faintly. "His aptitude is even better. A pity, though."

...

A hundred days passed in the blink of an eye.

Such a brief period was but a fleeting moment even for the mortal world, to say nothing of beings like the Immortal Gods or the great powers who exist for ages.

Taixuan Profound True Monarch was still sitting alone, fishing contentedly. The Xuzhuang beside him, however, no longer looked as he did at the start, with his Daluo Spirit Light operating at its visible peak.

There were no longer any phenomena around him. His face was serene, and he seemed completely unaware of the outside world, as if he had entered a state of deep, silent meditation—until a certain moment.

A wisp of purple qi abruptly emerged from between his eyebrows, transforming into a gracefully fluttering bird that danced in the air.

Then, more and more purple qi emerged from his body, transforming in the air. It became flowers and birds, insects and fish, mountains and forests, lakes and seas. It even formed a great roc spreading its wings, a dragon and tiger locked in combat, and various Immortal Spirits and exotic beasts—a myriad of phenomena unfolded.

"Oh?" Taixuan Profound True Monarch was slightly intrigued and glanced over.

Perhaps it was due to the True Monarch’s gaze, or perhaps it was simply the right moment, but the myriad phenomena formed by the purple qi suddenly retracted and flew toward Xuzhuang. The purple light converged, and in a blinding flash, it transformed into a magnificent Daoist Robe. All the phenomena that had appeared were now imprinted upon it, as if they had become the threads of its embroidery.

Taixuan Profound True Monarch smiled faintly and turned his head back toward the pool. "This Dao skill seems to go beyond the scope of the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe’s original framework."

Xuzhuang’s eyelashes fluttered as he opened his eyes. He glanced down at the Daoist Robe he was wearing and replied with a smile, "You have a discerning eye, True Monarch. It is indeed as you say."

Unlike with the Five Elements Divine Thunder, this was the first time Xuzhuang had fully channeled his Daluo Spirit Light to devise a Dao skill. He had integrated his own comprehension of the Dao, not merely used the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe as a foundation.

In his pursuit of perfection, Xuzhuang had even incorporated concepts from a Tai Su Orthodox Sect Dao skill: the Tai Su Genben True Qi. When cultivated to a profound level, that technique was said to make one "unapproachable by the formless, and invulnerable to the formed." It was one of the most famous Superior Protective Divine Techniques of the Tai Su Orthodox Sect.

As a direct disciple of his sect, Xuzhuang was qualified to practice all of its Dao skills. However, the Tai Su Orthodox Sect had an immense number of techniques. Xuzhuang had never lacked for methods, only for time to practice them, so he had only dabbled in many of them.

Compared to other Dao skills, Xuzhuang had placed considerable importance on the Tai Su Genben True Qi, spending some time cultivating it to the seventh level. However, he had missed the opportunity to forge his Gangyun and had been too busy since, so he had never integrated the technique into it, rendering it of little practical use.

Beyond the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe and the Tai Su Genben True Qi, this new Dao skill also incorporated much of Xuzhuang’s own understanding of the Dao. It was not based merely on the principle of protection, which was why it produced the vision of myriad unfolding phenomena.

Therefore, Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s statement that Xuzhuang’s Dao skill surpassed the scope of the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe was no exaggeration.

Taixuan Profound True Monarch asked, "Have you given this Dao skill a name?"

Xuzhuang pondered for a moment. "I plan to name this Dao skill the Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe."

The Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe was Xuzhuang’s first attempt based on the concept of "the growth of all techniques" from the Supreme Profound Celestial Opening Scripture. At its current stage, it might not have been stronger than a fully developed Superior Dao Skill like Tai Su Genben True Qi. However, as Xuzhuang’s own cultivation deepened, it might one day incorporate the strengths of many different schools and be elevated to an unbelievable level.

Xuzhuang didn’t feel this was an unattainable ambition. As Taixuan Profound True Monarch had said, all superior techniques in the world came from their creators forging their own paths. The Dao skills of the ancients were passed down only after they were created from their own profound attainments.

In fact, Xuzhuang had started exploring this path back in his Golden Core realm. For someone of his caliber, it was not too early to begin.

"Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe." Taixuan Profound True Monarch first nodded in approval, then continued, "However..."

’However?’ Xuzhuang furrowed his brow, wondering if the Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe had some fatal flaw.

Taixuan Profound True Monarch said leisurely, "I had originally planned that if your derivation of the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe was passable, I would disseminate the skill within the Taixuan Sect. That way, you wouldn’t have gotten its foundational framework for free."

"However, since it now involves a Superior Dao Skill from the Tai Su sect, I can’t do that." Taixuan Profound True Monarch smiled, pointed at him, and chided, "You sly fellow."

Xuzhuang was stunned for a moment. Taixuan Profound True Monarch had already declared, "The lesson is over. Go." With a wave of his sleeve, Xuzhuang felt the world spin around him, and he found himself abruptly sitting on a chair in the Yi Hall.

"Well now..." Xuzhuang shook his head and then suddenly smiled. He straightened his robes, stood up, and performed a deep bow toward the empty space.

From the day Xuzhuang first arrived at the Taixuan Orthodox Sect and met Taixuan Profound True Monarch, exactly ten full years had now passed.

Regardless, he had studied the Dao under Taixuan Profound True Monarch for ten years, so treating him with the respect due to a semi-master was only right. After completing his respectful bow, Xuzhuang flicked his sleeves and walked out of the great hall. He called over an Immortal Maiden in attendance and asked, "Do you know the whereabouts of my brother Daoist, Jiang Han?"

The Immortal Maiden replied, "Honored guest, the Chief Disciple went into seclusion several years ago."

"Is that so?" Xuzhuang nodded slightly. "That’s for the best, then."

He took two prepared letters from his sleeve. "I have stayed in your esteemed sect for a long time and must now depart for the Divine Continent. Please deliver these two letters for me, one to Brother Daoist Jiang Han and the other to Elder Xuan Cheng, to thank them for their hospitality."

The Immortal Maiden hurriedly said, "I cannot..."

Xuzhuang waved his hand, cutting her off. "Lieyun!" he called out.

"ROAR!" A long cry came from behind the hall, making the Immortal Maiden jump in fright. A streak of black light shot out, revealing a flood dragon dozens of feet long with fearsome scales. It lowered its head. "Greetings, Master."

A flicker of surprise crossed Xuzhuang’s eyes. Ever since Lieyun had consumed the Spirit Pill gifted by Dan Yangsheng, its progress had been astounding. A few years ago, it had even broken through to the second level of the Nascent Soul realm. The overwhelming demonic aura it released had nearly caused a misunderstanding within the Taixuan Sect.

Because of this, he had carefully examined Lieyun, not only finding no hidden dangers but also discovering that it still had room for further advancement. If it finished the entire gourd of precious pills, it might even reach the third level within a hundred years.

It was important to remember that Lieyun’s foundation was poor. For it to reach such a realm was already incredible; further progress was by no means an easy feat. ’Just who is this Dan Yangsheng,’ he wondered, ’to be able to refine such miraculous pills?’

Xuzhuang pushed the thought aside. With a casual wave, he beckoned Lieyun to fly into his sleeve. He gave the Immortal Maiden a slight smile and said, "This Daoist will take his leave now."

Before the Immortal Maiden could even react, Xuzhuang had vanished from sight.

「Far across mountains and the Vast Sea, within the Tai Su Orthodox Sect.」

With his hair pinned by a twig-like hairpin and clad in a ceremonial robe, a solemn-faced Yu Du followed Mingjing Zhenren into the Cloud Palace Hall.

Amidst the swirling mist, a dignified figure, the Xuanlang Taoist, sat on a high seat. A cloud of fortune hovered above his head, auspicious light radiated from him, and a clear aura enveloped his form.

Mingjing Zhenren smiled faintly, adjusted his robes, and bowed. "Greetings, Master."

Yu Du’s expression tensed. He bowed deeply and said, "Yu Du, a direct disciple of Yuxiao, pays his respects to Daochen Zhenren."

"There is no need for such ceremony, Junior Martial Uncle Mingjing," Daochen Zhenren said, before his gaze fell upon the other visitor. "Yu Du," he stated calmly, "your presence here means that Yuxiao intends to cooperate with my Tai Su sect."

"Yes," Yu Du said respectfully. "This junior has come bearing our sect’s decree, bringing with me our cultivators to await your orders, Zhenren."

"Good." Daochen Zhenren smiled faintly.
