Chapter 389: Chapter 213: The Profound Yellow Twin Prides, the Myriad Phenomena Immortal Robe
Practicing the Five Elements Divine Thunder was merely done on a whim, but it was also a way to test the wonders of the Daluo Spirit Light.
It now seemed that the last six months of deduction and quiet cultivation had not been a waste of effort.
After leaving Xirang Mountain, Xuzhuang returned directly to his residence in Yi Hall. A few days of cultivation later, he was once again summoned by the Taixuan Profound True Monarch.
Ethereal immortal music drifted through the air, and the vast qi was bitingly sharp. An Immortal Realm manifested amidst the heavy clouds.
In his ten years in the Taixuan Sect, Xuzhuang hadn’t interacted much with others, but he knew this was the Taixuan Vast Cloud Grotto Heaven, personally created by the Taixuan Profound True Monarch. It was where the True Monarch cultivated. In terms of sheer vastness and spiritual energy, it was far beyond comparison to the few Grotto Heavens Xuzhuang had previously entered.
However, even though Xuzhuang had listened to the Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s sermons, he was not permitted to wander freely through the Taixuan Vast Cloud Grotto Heaven. Over the past ten years, he had only ever been to a few of its locations.
Following the guidance of his Spiritual Sense, Xuzhuang suddenly felt the path was somewhat familiar. Sure enough, as he ventured deeper, that "East Sea" once again appeared before him. Just as it had been when Xuzhuang was first summoned, the Taixuan Profound True Monarch had his back to him, fishing.
Over the past ten years, the Taixuan Profound True Monarch had given several sermons. Sometimes he preached in a training ground, other times in a grand hall, and occasionally even upon an auspicious cloud. He seemed to do as he pleased, never repeating a location, and this was only the second time Xuzhuang had come to this particular place.
Xuzhuang slowed his pace and approached the Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s side, bowing respectfully. The True Monarch merely gave a slight nod, gesturing for Xuzhuang to sit cross-legged beside him.
"Xuzhuang," the Taixuan Profound True Monarch said faintly, his gaze fixed on the pond. "Your progress is even faster than I had imagined. Passing the Supreme Profound Celestial Opening Scripture on to you truly has not been a waste."
Xuzhuang replied respectfully, "Thank you for your praise, True Monarch."
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch just smiled faintly and said, "Today marks the final sermon. Let me give you a small test."
Xuzhuang’s expression turned solemn. He offered no verbal reply, simply focusing his attention to listen. He then heard the Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s faint voice begin to unhurriedly narrate a Celestial Spirit restriction used for refining a Magical Artifact.
The more Xuzhuang listened, the more familiar it sounded. With his current mastery of the Dao and the Daluo Spirit Light he had unlocked, deducing the restriction’s mysteries was not difficult. As the words entered his ears, a vague feeling arose in his heart. As his mind worked through the details, he suddenly realized this Celestial Spirit restriction was not unfamiliar at all.
’Could this be...’ Xuzhuang’s heart stirred, and he took out the Purple Clay Small Jar. "The Purple Qi Xiaoyi?"
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch was clearly not surprised. He continued to fish leisurely and said, "When I was young, Xuan Ying of the Upper Profound Sect and I crafted this Magical Artifact in imitation of the sect’s ultimate defensive treasure, the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe."
Although Xuzhuang had his suspicions, he was still slightly taken aback.
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch didn’t seem to mind discussing the past, saying faintly, "Years ago, when I left the Upper Profound Sect, I fought a great battle with Xuan Ying over the East Sea. He was defeated by me, and we severed our ties. That’s when I threw this item into the East Sea."
Xuzhuang gazed at the item in his hand. He never would have thought that not only did it have an extraordinary origin, but it also held such a story.
According to the miscellaneous records he had read in the Langhuan Pavilion, several thousand years ago, the prestige of the Upper Profound Orthodox Sect had reached its zenith. At that time, two figures of breathtaking talent emerged from the sect.
Though both geniuses came from the Upper Profound Orthodox Sect, the world knew them as the Profound Yellow Twin Prodigies, a testament to how no one else could even hope to compare to them.
One of them, in particular, reached the peak of the Nascent Soul stage and achieved an unbelievable level of prestige. He was hailed as the Number One Venerable of the Mystic Sects, a title no one at the time dared to dispute. Even the current fame of Zhong Shenxiu and Xuzhuang paled in comparison.
This former Number One Venerable of the Mystic Sects was none other than Master Xuan Ying, who had since refined a Primordial Spirit and now ranked among the patriarchs of the Upper Profound Sect.
Presumably, no one back then could have known that Master Xuan Ying, once hailed as the Number One Venerable of the Mystic Sects, had actually been defeated by the other of the Twin Prodigies.
But thinking about it now, it seemed perfectly natural. After all, after leaving the Upper Profound Sect and even the Profound Yellow world itself, who knew what magnificent and tumultuous journey this person had experienced to ultimately refine the Utmost True Pure Yang and become a Monarch coeval with the world—
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch was right before him. Even just recalling this history, Xuzhuang couldn’t help but feel shaken.
"Enough," the Taixuan Profound True Monarch said faintly. "In the remaining one hundred days, I want you to take this restriction and deduce a protective Daoist art from it."
"Yes," Xuzhuang replied solemnly.
With this restriction as a foundation, deducing a Daoist art was not a difficult matter for Xuzhuang. However, to pass the Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s test, he certainly couldn’t get by with just any ordinary art.
Moreover, Xuzhuang himself was eager to try. He wanted to glimpse the profundities hidden within the restriction that two heaven-sent talents, the Taixuan Profound True Monarch and Master Xuan Ying, had deduced from the Purple Ribbon Immortal Robe in their youth.
Therefore, he was determined to strive for perfection. He immediately calmed his mind and focused his spirit, not rushing to begin his deductions. Instead, he first began to carefully study and ponder the restriction the Taixuan Profound True Monarch had imparted.
Seeing Xuzhuang close his eyes, his brow furrowed in concentration, the Taixuan Profound True Monarch nodded slightly. He paid him no more special attention, instead returning his gaze to the pond. Suddenly, he flicked his fishing rod!
Waves suddenly surged on the surface of the pond. A red-eyed white shark burst from the water, shimmered in mid-air, and transformed into a beardless, bald, middle-aged Daoist. He cupped his hands in a salute and said, "This humble Daoist, Wansha, greets the True Monarch."
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch asked, "And why, might I ask, did you take my hook?"
Wansha Taoist bowed his head and replied respectfully, "This humble Daoist wishes to convert to the Mystic Sects and study under you, True Monarch."
The Taixuan Profound True Monarch said faintly, "You were fortunate enough to gain sentience by learning a Mystic Sect’s True Method, yet you have also preyed upon cultivators to refine your own techniques. You cannot enter my orthodox sect."
Wansha Taoist’s expression did not change as he replied, "True Monarch, although this humble Daoist had gained sentience at that time, I was without guidance. I knew only of survival of the fittest."
"Later, I was unexpectedly subdued by an East Sea Loose Cultivator and received proper instruction. I no longer prey upon sentient beings. Now, I have even come to understand my mind and see my true nature. I ask the True Monarch to perceive the truth of this."
