Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Chapter 909 – Trying to analyse the Natural Formation

First, Moon Aiko used her boat to get high up in the sky. This was to ensure she wouldn't miss any detail that might be necessary to recreate this.

Then she used her [Serene Lantern Eyes] to see the way Qi was moving, but...

'What is going on...?' Moon Aiko tilted her head. There were places on the island where there was no Qi and other places where there was too much Qi, and she was not talking about important parts of the island, but seemingly random places.

Trying to crack that kind of sequence would take forever, so she just recorded how the Qi moved inside her mind before slowly descending towards the main node of this Natural Formation(?).

First, the centre of the mountain is where all the energy came from and what also maintained this Natural Formation.

Moon Aiko wanted to get closer to it to see if she could spot anything, but the mountain was empty. Not like empty empty, but empty as not having anything inside that should produce the phenomenon.

In that case, she should assume that this is not the centre of the whole Natural Formation, but a battery that is maintaining all the other 'nodes'.

Then let's go to where the Foxes built that tower. It was not exactly where the tower was located, but close enough.

The Twins were still helping it build, judging by the amount of broken rocks down below, they are probably trying to see how high they can build before it gets destroyed.

Well, that was a fine and innocent game, even if someone was down below.

But that was not what Aiko was here for, so she just nodded at them before descending on the rocky opening.

The Qi here was tangled, like a road too narrow to house all those carriages. At best, they could drive back to back, but not side by side.

This place was... simply put, constipated.

However, there might be a reason for this, so Moon Aiko recorded it before moving further.

Now, moving on. The next step would be the fortress. It was a bit uncanny that the Foxes settled in these places, but she wouldn't question it yet. It might be just luck on their part.

Or they liked the higher density of natural Qi.

Needless to say, the Foxes in rehabilitation were happy to see her.

Almost all of them, who could afford it or obtained it, wore the least revealing swimsuit. However, even then, their juicy bodies were striking.

But for Moon Aiko, she was just happy they were doing fine and seemed much brighter.

Bidding a goodbye to them, Moon Aiko walked towards another 'node' of this island. If the previous 'node' was constipated, this one had the runners.

It didn't make any sense to Aiko, but she would just record it and go further. The next one was on the beach. It seemed like she was starting to understand this place.

The beach had neither too much nor too little of Qi. Maybe because they moved the rocks around too, but that could be taken into account later.

For now, the important part was:

The beach was used to gather all the necessary Qi from the depths of the ocean. As such, she couldn't recreate this without an actual ocean.

The rocky terrain was used as a filter, only certain kinds of Qi and their qualities were allowed to go through, that's why the 'pathways' were so 'narrow'.

The mountain was where all the filtered Qi was located and stored.

And last, but not least, the forest, next to the fortress. That one was used as the main road to spread the Qi all around this island.

This impressed Aiko, since there had to be a control unit, and if she was right, that would be on the plains, in the middle of the island.

That control should be also the main 'node' of this Natural Formation and where all the magic happens. Like the places without Qi, or places with lots of Qi.

Moon Aiko moved onto the plays and as expected, Foxes were playing here too, or rather, Nero was chasing around Foxes, but had hard time deciding which tail to chase.

Moon Aiko understood. She understood the struggle of choosing between Danji's and Mei's tail. Both of them were fluffy and warm, but each of them had a very unique charm.

Moon Aiko didn't descend immediately. She would just become a target of relentless chase from Nero, which she would like to avoid as she wanted to just inspect how this place formed.

She waited for them to either tire out or chase away.

...

"What are you doing here?" Mei came over, seeing that Aiko was nowhere to be found.

"Bad timing." Moon Aiko clicked her tongue. She didn't have those swimsuits with her, and she didn't return to the Clothier yet.

Yet Mei still came over, even knowing that Aiko wanted to dress her up.

"What?" Mei didn't know what to say, but sometimes, she just couldn't keep up with Aiko's thoughts.

"Nothing." Moon Aiko turned towards Mei, wondering what she wanted.

"The Northern Sect is settled for the time being. They were on the receiving end of scrutiny from the Southern Grandmaster that you have sent over." Mei explained. "Honestly, your timing was impeccable. He had to talk with them, since he came at a bad time for him, but a perfect time for us."

'I was just trying to chase him away.' Moon Aiko was speechless that she was misunderstood, but was there any need to correct it? She quite liked that Mei thought so highly of her.

"Any problems with them?" Moon Aiko was curious.

"There will be war in the future, but not now. The other Sect finally noticed that the Southern Sect is pulling out completely, but they don't have any Movement Arrays prepared, nor enough ships to make this move, so they are stuck." Mei explained what happened in the background, while looking around. The Foxes were peaceful, but none of them were fooling around.

Well, they were playing around, but take the Foxes that are chasing 'Nero' around as an example. All of them are using Beast Techniques and trying to improve their abilities.

Their dedication was quite terrifying to be honest.

The Foxes on the beach? That was the application and precision of Qi, which was very, very important for the Human Body Stage!

The Foxes inside the Fortress? Those were trying to create large scale Array and Formation that could both defend and attack. They also considered using ruins for this, which was honestly incredible.

The Foxes building the tower? Those were not simply building a tower, but trying to apply the fundamental rules of Qi to build without limits. It's a strenuous and complicated matter, but with trial and error, those Foxes were getting ridiculously good at it.

The Foxes climbing the mountain? It was kind of similar to the Foxes on the plains, but in their case, it was an application of [Lightness Technique], which is the foundation of most Movement Skills.

"War, huh..." Moon Aiko nodded her head slowly. It was kind of expected considering what happened.

"And it was because I refused to give them the Floating Stones." Mei shrugged.

"They wanted to cut their losses and bring over more Disciples, right?" Moon Aiko could imagine what they were after, but it was hard to say if that was all there was to it.

"You could say that, yes." Mei nodded her head. It was obvious there was more to it, but she was unwilling to say it, so naturally, Aiko wouldn't push it.

"So, what are you up to?" Mei was curious if Aiko missed her or not, but she just couldn't bring herself to say it.

"I'm analysing this Natural Formation." Moon Aiko thought it was a Natural Treasure, but that no longer seemed to be the case.

"Oh?" More loot as always is a good thing, so Mei would support Aiko.

"Yeah, it would allow the Demonic Foxes to come out of my tail and live normally." Moon Aiko suddenly dropped that bombshell, not caring about the impact.

"... What...?" Mei was trying to process that information, since it would mean that she could spend more time with her sister.

She obviously missed her, but she didn't want to pressure anyone, just because she was missing her. She missed her a lot...

"Yeah. There are places on this island with virtually no Qi. And then there are places with lots of Qi." Moon Aiko explained her findings and how the different directions served different purposes.

"..." Mei was convinced. If Aiko could pull this off, this war would not be simple... but would she stop it...?

No. Obviously no. She restrained Aiko a lot already, so letting her loose once in a while was not too bad and this time it was also very beneficial.

"The problem is with stability." Moon Aiko frowned.

"Can this be man-made?" Mei suggested that, since a lot of Natural Formation could be a lost legacy from old times.

"I never considered it, but you might be right." Moon Aiko wouldn't mistake a main 'node' for just a battery if it was a Natural Formation, but what if it was not? In that case it was possible for her to be mistaken in many things.

Mei would love to spend more time with her sister, but she wouldn't pressure Aiko.

"You are practically staring a hole into my head. Is something wrong?" Moon Aiko turned towards Mei, wanting to know what was up.

"I'm sorry." Mei didn't even realise that happened.

"Is it because of Mai?" Moon Aiko could guess, since Mai was one of the most impacted Foxes from the invasion.

Mei wordlessly opened and closed her mouth. If she admitted it, Aiko would be under a lot of pressure, but if she denied it, that was the same as if denying her sister's happiness, she couldn't do that.

"It's fine. I can guess what you are going through." Moon Aiko shrugged. She would naturally do her best to analyse this place and make it happen, but there were many prerequisites.

For one, the Natural Formation can't fail. The moment it fails, the Demonic Foxes would die. They have to slowly adapt to the normal Qi and replace it in their bodies, but with their strength, that would be a long and strenuous process.

Then, she would have to establish a few rules and-

Just... a lot of stuff, but all of it hinged on this Natural Formation. If she can't crack it, there would be no happiness for the Foxes until they adapt themselves inside her tails...
