Chapter 319: Chapter 319 - The Heavenly Blessing Descent and the Blessing Rain

The light hidden within the tribulation clouds continued to brighten.

Su Bai remained seated at the center of the formation with his Nascent Soul before him, both connected through the steadily turning Macro-Taiji.

He already knew roughly what a normal Nascent Soul tribulation should test.

The first stage assaulted the physical foundation. The second targeted the cultivator’s spiritual stability. The final suppression came afterward, when the heavens made one last attempt to destroy the breakthrough before the new realm could settle completely.

Just then, the light within the clouds suddenly disappeared.

The change was so abrupt that everyone instinctively looked up.

For several breaths, the heavens became strangely quiet, as though the gathering tribulation had paused before revealing what came next.

Finally, a clear note sounded from somewhere above the clouds.

Su Bai raised his head.

The sound resembled a trumpet, although nothing could be seen within the darkness.

Its tone spread across Radiant Sky Sect with remarkable clarity.

The disciples surrounding the Main Peak froze.

The sound carried no oppressive force. As it passed through them, restless thoughts gradually settled, strained breathing eased, and several cultivators who had been nervous about standing so close to the tribulation found their minds becoming unusually calm.

Even a few elders showed surprise.

An Ancestor slowly lifted his gaze.

"This sound..."

Another old man beside him had already straightened.

Recognition appeared in his expression.

"Heavenly Blessing Descent."

The nearby Peak Masters looked toward him.

The Ancestor continued watching the clouds.

"I have only read descriptions of it. Ancient records mention a heavenly phenomenon in which blessing gathered into form and descended over a region. Wherever its power passed, injuries recovered, exhausted foundations were nourished, and even damaged meridians could receive some benefit."

Several disciples who overheard him immediately brightened.

Their earlier fear weakened considerably.

Someone farther back whispered excitedly, "Senior Brother Su really attracted something like that?"

Another voice answered with complete confidence.

"Of course he did."

A few nearby disciples nodded as though the matter had been settled.

Within the formation, Su Bai’s expression slowly darkened.

He could feel the effect of the heavenly note as clearly as everyone else.

That pleasant stabilizing influence reached him as well.

Reversal immediately changed it.

The soothing effect twisted into a violent disturbance within his mind, forcing him to steady his consciousness before the sound could disrupt the connection he had only just established with his Nascent Soul.

Su Bai stared upward.

’Of course.’

He had already learned what heavenly blessings meant for him.

The last time the heavens tried to heal him, his flesh had nearly been eaten away.

Now an ancient legendary blessing had appeared.

For some reason, everyone else looked delighted.

The final note of the heavenly trumpet faded.

Silence returned to the mountains.

White-gold lightning began moving within the clouds.

The lightning flowed in long, curving paths, disappearing behind the clouds before appearing somewhere else. Each movement seemed too smooth for ordinary lightning, as though something enormous were swimming through the darkness overhead.

Lu Canghai’s eyes narrowed.

Huo Yan slowly lifted his head from the formation.

The younger disciples fell quiet again.

A deep roar suddenly rolled through the sky.

The sound shook the Main Peak.

Several disciples instinctively stepped backward as the tribulation clouds parted.

A vast head emerged from within them.

White-gold lightning formed its horns, scales and flowing whiskers. The enormous body that followed twisted through the clouds, stretching so far that large sections of it remained hidden within the darkness.

A dragon formed entirely from heavenly lightning circled above Radiant Sky Sect.

Its eyes lowered toward the Main Peak.

More precisely, toward Su Bai.

The Ancestors could no longer hide their excitement.

Even they had spent most of their lives hearing about heavenly phenomena that few cultivators ever witnessed themselves.

The lightning dragon opened its mouth.

Su Bai felt his scalp tighten.

The roar came first.

A brilliant wave of white-gold radiance followed it.

Countless points of light appeared around the dragon before narrowing into long, needle-like streaks.

They fell.

The sight was beautiful enough that several disciples forgot to breathe.

Thousands upon thousands of white-gold needles descended from the clouds, covering the sky above the Main Peak like radiant rain.

Their aura carried overwhelming vitality.

The formation reacted before the needles even reached it.

Huo Yan’s expression became serious.

"Prepare the outer channels."

The first needles struck the barrier.

White-gold light exploded across its surface.

The isolation formation rippled violently as heavenly blessing poured into it. Formation lines buried throughout the Main Peak lit up in rapid succession, guiding part of the incoming power away from the central area.

The outer channels awakened.

Blessing began spreading through the prepared sections around the training ground.

The effect was immediate.

A wounded Inner Sect disciple suddenly felt an old ache in his shoulder disappear.

Another cultivator’s pale complexion gained color.

Several elders sensed minor hidden injuries easing under the overflowing vitality.

The excitement that spread through the crowd was almost impossible to suppress.

Some disciples sat down immediately and began circulating their methods.

Others did not even need to be told.

The heavenly blessing was too valuable to waste.

Huo Yan had prepared for excess heavenly power, though even he had not expected something on this scale.

He quickly sent several storage artifacts toward predetermined points around the formation.

The vessels opened and began drawing in portions of the dispersed blessing that nobody could absorb immediately.

Some would be preserved for Shen Youran and the others maintaining security away from the Main Peak.

The rest could be studied or distributed later.

Not a trace should be wasted if it could be helped.

At the center of everything, Su Bai watched the first opening appear in the inner layer.

The formation could redistribute part of the blessing, but the pressure was increasing too quickly.

If they attempted to block everything, the entire barrier would eventually collapse under the accumulated heavenly power.

Lu Canghai understood that as well.

"Let enough through to relieve the inner layer."

Huo Yan nodded.

The formation shifted.

Several controlled channels opened.

White-gold needles poured through.

Su Bai had already prepared himself.

The first needle struck his shoulder.

His entire body convulsed.

The blessing contained within it exploded through his flesh.

Vitality flooded into the wound.

Reversal immediately twisted the effect.

The skin around the point of impact darkened and split as the life-giving force transformed into vicious corrosion.

A second needle struck his thigh.

A third entered near his ribs.

Pain spread through his body so quickly that Su Bai nearly lost control of his breathing.

The blessing was at least comparable to what he had once received from Lian Qingyue.

Perhaps stronger.

And this time there were thousands of them.

Su Bai drew another thin thread of Immortal Qi from the stone beside him.

The dense foreign energy entered his meridians.

Its overwhelming pressure immediately reversed into nourishment and clarity.

More importantly, the Immortal Qi interfered with the reversed heavenly vitality trying to establish itself inside his body.

The corrosion slowed.

Su Bai exhaled carefully.

’Good.’

At least that part still worked.

The rain intensified.

White-gold needles struck him from every direction.

Some pierced his skin.

Others shattered against his bones and released their blessing directly into the surrounding flesh.

The kinetic force alone was enough to tear open new wounds before Reversal even had time to turn the blessing against him.

Blood began staining Su Bai’s robes.

His Myriad-Calamity Vajra Body awakened fully.

The constitution recorded each genuine injury.

The first few needles hurt terribly.

The next few still hurt.

Gradually, however, the repeated damage began losing some of its effectiveness.

His flesh adapted to the puncturing force.

His meridians became slightly more resistant to the familiar pattern of erosion.

The Macro-Taiji accelerated.

His Nascent Soul remained seated before him, untouched by the first phase, yet its presence was already helping.

The spiritual body mirrored every change within Su Bai’s cultivation foundation.

As the Macro-Taiji circulated through both physical and spiritual structures, the balance across the Greater Golden Core stabilized far faster than it could have before.

Damaged flesh repaired.

Fresh wounds opened.

Those wounds repaired again.

The cycle repeated so quickly that even Su Bai began losing track of how many times his body had been pierced.

Outside the barrier, the contrast became increasingly absurd.

Disciples were meditating peacefully beneath the redistributed blessing.

Several elders looked visibly healthier.

The stored vessels arranged by Huo Yan were gradually filling with pale golden light.

Inside the barrier, Su Bai looked like someone had thrown him into a storm of glowing needles.

His face twitched.

’Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.’

Another needle struck his cheek.

Su Bai immediately abandoned the thought.

He concentrated on keeping the Nascent Soul connection stable.

Something changed inside one of his Gateway Dantians.

Su Bai noticed it without needing to withdraw his awareness from the battle.

The full-sized Nascent Soul reflected the same change before him.

The golden sprout was absorbing the blessing.

The reversed harmful effect could not settle properly because of the Immortal Qi and Su Bai’s increasingly resistant body, yet the original heavenly property within the needles was not simply disappearing.

The golden sprout drew it in.

Its tiny leaf brightened.

White-gold light began gathering along its edge.

Su Bai’s eyes widened slightly.

Another wave of blessing entered him.

The sprout absorbed more.

This time, faint threads of white-gold lightning appeared around the golden leaf.

Su Bai stared.

It was not merely absorbing the blessing property.

It was also taking in a trace of the heavenly lightning carrying it.

For the first time since the rain began, Su Bai almost smiled.

The heavens roared.

His smile disappeared immediately.

The lightning dragon opened its mouth again.

A second rain descended.

The aura was different.

Su Bai sensed it before the first needle reached the formation.

’Nourishment?’ His expression changed.

The needles struck.

Across the Main Peak, cultivators who were already meditating suddenly felt fresh energy spreading through their bodies.

Several exhausted elders straightened.

Qi recovered. Strained meridians relaxed. Even spiritual fatigue eased slightly.

Su Bai received the concentrated version.

The nourishing force reversed inside him and began draining strength from his flesh.

His limbs became heavy. His muscles weakened. His meridians felt as though something were pulling vitality directly out of them.

Su Bai gritted his teeth and drew another thread of Immortal Qi.

The dragon roared again.

A third blessing followed.

’Healing?!’

Fresh wounds across the Main Peak began closing.

The wounds on Su Bai widened.

Another roar came before he had fully stabilized.

Restoration descended.

Old injuries throughout the sect improved.

Inside the barrier, scars and previously repaired tissues throughout Su Bai’s body began tearing open as Reversal transformed restoration into renewed damage.

Su Bai’s breathing became rough.

"Oh mighty dragon, please let me rest for a moment..."

The lightning dragon did not wait.

It roared again.

"Crap!"

Another heavenly blessing rained down, and another followed after that.

Different forms of benevolent heavenly power descended one after another as though the heavens were searching through every possible blessing they could produce.

Su Bai gradually understood what was happening.

’Are you testing them on me?’

The thought was ridiculous.

Unfortunately, it also felt increasingly accurate.

The dragon seemed to be trying every beneficial effect available to it.

And every single one became another form of torture when it reached Su Bai.

His robes were already soaked with blood.

His skin repeatedly split and regenerated.

His meridians trembled under conflicting waves of reversed blessing.

His muscles alternated between violent pain and terrifying weakness.

The Myriad-Calamity Vajra Body continued adapting.

Each repeated injury became slightly less effective than the one before it.

Even the reversed blessings were beginning to hurt less once his body had experienced their resulting damage enough times.

Su Bai could feel the improvement clearly.

His Reversal had not changed.

A blessing would still become harmful.

The difference was that his body was beginning to learn how to survive the harm that followed.

That alone was enough to send a trace of excitement through him.

The pain immediately reminded him not to celebrate too early.

The lightning dragon stopped roaring.

The blessing rain weakened.

Su Bai lifted his head.

Above the Main Peak, the enormous dragon stared directly down at him.

For the first time, it seemed almost offended.

The dragon remained suspended within the clouds for several breaths with its white-gold eyes fixed on Su Bai below.

Su Bai had barely begun to think the first phase was ending when the lightning around its enormous body suddenly intensified.

The dragon slowly lowered its head.

Lu Canghai’s expression changed.

Huo Yan looked upward sharply, while the Ancestors who had been absorbing the scattered blessing opened their eyes.

The vast body within the clouds began to move.

White-gold lightning surged around it as the Heavenly Blessing Descent slowly left the cover of the tribulation clouds.

Only then did everyone realize that the dragon itself was descending toward Su Bai.
