Chapter 323 - 199: Vision
Chapter 323: Chapter 199: Vision
In the end, Su Mu had appeared out of nowhere, bringing Xu Chongyuan and the others back to the battlements of Hujue Pass.
By the time Shi Ziran rushed out, it was already too late.
To make matters worse, the Demon Court’s army attacked right at that moment, trapping him in the middle of it.
Luckily, the battle between the Flood Dragon, Ao Qing, and the Demon Court General had drawn the attention of the Demon Soldiers; otherwise, Shi Ziran would never have survived this long.
"Since you wish to slay demons, then go," Su Mu said coldly.
Suddenly, he seized Shao Santong by the collar. Power erupted from his hand as he violently hurled him away.
Shao Santong’s face fell. He desperately tried to regain control of his body, only to find his strength completely unresponsive. He shot through the air like a cannonball, crossing several hundred yards in an instant. He slammed into a demon in front of Shi Ziran, sending it flying, before landing heavily right before him.
The impact shattered Shao Santong’s bones, and he coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood.
"Shi—"
"Sha Tongtian!"
When enemies meet, their eyes burn with fury.
How could Shi Ziran not understand Su Mu’s intent?
Without a moment’s hesitation, he raised his long saber and, with a single slash, lopped off Shao Santong’s head.
Tears welled up in Shi Ziran’s fierce eyes. Ignoring the fact that he was on a battlefield, he turned toward Su Mu’s position on the walls of Hujue Pass, dropped to his knees, and kowtowed three times with heavy thuds.
SWISH!
A blood-red arrow streaked through the air, piercing a demon that was attempting a sneak attack on Shi Ziran.
A five-colored flame exploded, and the demon’s shriek echoed around Shi Ziran.
Shi Ziran leaped to his feet, a fierce will to live blazing in his eyes.
’I can’t die. I have to live. I still have to repay Su Mu’s incredible kindness.’
SWISH!
SWISH!
SWISH!
After tossing Shao Santong away, Su Mu had immediately drawn his Five Flames Heaven-Shaking Bow.
Ball after ball of five-colored fire erupted among the swarming demons.
But the relentless assault of the endless demons finally shattered the barrier of light protecting the walls of Hujue Pass. Demons began to swarm onto the battlements.
Tens of thousands of demons laying siege to a city—it was a brutal scene impossible to imagine if you hadn’t witnessed it yourself.
Countless soldiers of the Border Defense Army surged onto the walls to clash with the demons.
The Taiping Captains from the Taiping Bureau also threw themselves into the battle.
Shao Santong’s handful of subordinates had already used the chaos as cover to flee, and Su Mu had no time to spare for them now.
He drew his Thunder Shocking Saber, his figure moving like a phantom across the battlements.
Demon after demon was cleaved from the top of the wall.
Just as the Taiping Bureau and the Border Defense Army managed to secure the wall, Zhang Wangyue roared, "Who dares to sally forth and intercept the demons!"
Although the walls of Hujue Pass were protected by an Array, they couldn’t withstand wave after wave of demonic assaults.
Once the walls were breached, fending off the demons would become immensely more difficult.
Zhang Wangyue intended to lead a sortie to intercept the demons outside the walls.
"I will!"
"And me!"
The members of the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau all cried out in unison.
Xu Chongyuan and Zhong Guizheng roared their assent.
Many powerful soldiers from the Border Defense Army also volunteered for the mission.
"Lower the ropes! All those at the Rebirth Realm and above, charge out with me!" Zhang Wangyue bellowed.
He grabbed a rope and leaped straight off the battlements.
He lacked Yang Changfeng’s skill and had to use a rope to aid his descent from the wall, which stood dozens of yards high.
Following Zhang Wangyue’s lead, the Martial Artists on the wall used the ropes to descend and engage the Demon Court’s Demon Soldiers in battle.
The moment Zhang Wangyue leaped from the wall, Su Mu jumped down as well.
He carved a path toward Shi Ziran’s position.
Su Mu moved with incredible speed, his saber flashing as he quickly carved a bloody path forward.
By the time he reached Shi Ziran’s side, the other man was on the verge of collapse.
Sending a demon flying with a single slash of his saber, Su Mu said gravely, "Stay with me!"
He then turned and began to fight anew.
There was no time for idle talk on the battlefield.
The sheer number of demons was overwhelming. For every one slain, another took its place, an endless, writhing tide.
Even with Su Mu’s level of Cultivation, he soon began to feel the strain.
But at this moment, the power of his Physical Divine Techniques became undeniable.
With his Indestructible Golden Body active, Su Mu had no fear of the demons’ attacks.
Attacks from Tier One and Tier Two Demons couldn’t even break his skin.
Only attacks from Tier Three Demons were worth blocking.
As for Tier Four Demons, he had yet to encounter one.
And even if a demon with particularly sharp claws managed to inflict some damage, the formidable regenerative power of his Indestructible Golden Body ensured that such superficial wounds healed almost instantly.
Possessing the Indestructible Golden Body made Su Mu the most durable warrior on the entire battlefield!
As Zhang Wangyue fought, he kept an eye on Su Mu out of the corner of his vision.
He gave a casual glance, and his eyes went wide.
’Is that son of a bitch really in the Rebirth Realm? How does he feel even stronger than me, and I’m in the True Essence Realm?’
He was slaughtering demons as if they were mere chickens and dogs.
Initially, Zhang Wangyue had been worried about Su Mu, planning to intervene and rescue him if he got into trouble.
But now, it was clear Su Mu didn’t need his concern in the slightest.
Even if he himself were to fall in battle, Su Mu would likely survive just fine.
’He’s a natural-born warrior.’
No longer needing to worry about Su Mu, Zhang Wangyue held nothing back. With a great roar, he unleashed his full power.
Su Mu escorted Shi Ziran all the way to the base of the Hujue Pass wall. Only after watching him safely climb back onto the battlements did Su Mu turn and plunge back into the fray.
He rescued a fallen Taiping Captain and then looked ahead.
The Demon Court’s Demon Soldiers were still flooding in like a tide, seemingly without end.
Zhang Wangyue and the others were still fighting fiercely, but their numbers were dwindling as warriors fell one by one.
If this continued, it was only a matter of time before they were all killed by the demons.
Even with reinforcements from Hujue Pass, it would be hard to hold back such a demonic horde.
’What should I do?’ Su Mu’s expression grew grim.
Suddenly, his eyes were drawn to the distant battle between the Demon Court General, the Flood Dragon Ao Qing, and Hujue Pass’s Commander-in-Chief, Yang Changfeng.
The three of them were locked in a furious battle. The violent Qi Force radiating from them created a vacuum several hundred yards across, an area no other demon dared to enter.
Any that dared draw near were instantly pulverized by the shockwaves of their fight.
’Kill the general, and the Demon Court’s army is sure to retreat!’ Su Mu thought to himself.
The moment the thought formed, he acted. With no hesitation, his saber became a blur as he carved another bloody path.
BOOM!
Su Mu forced back several demons and, in a flash of motion, unslung the Five Flames Heaven-Shaking Bow from his back.
He drew the bow to a full moon, the arrow loosed like a falling star.
Across a distance of more than a hundred yards, the blood-red arrow streaked straight for the Demon Court General.
The Demon Court General roared in fury, swatting the blood-red arrow out of the air with a single swipe.
The Flood Dragon, Ao Qing, seized the opportunity. With a great HOWL, he bit down hard on the Demon Court General’s hind leg.
Meanwhile, Yang Changfeng brutally plunged his long saber deep into the Demon Court General’s hip.
With a heaven-shaking shriek, the Demon Court General’s body erupted with savage Qi Force, violently blasting both Ao Qing and Yang Changfeng away.
Its bovine eyes blazed with fury. It opened its mouth and spat a bolt of condensed air straight at Su Mu.
Su Mu dove sharply to the side, rolling ungracefully twice to dodge. The moment he was back on his feet, he had already loosed another arrow.
This one was aimed at the Demon Court General’s eye.
Ao Qing and Yang Changfeng charged in again.
With Su Mu harassing it from a distance, the Demon Court General began to accumulate more and more injuries.
It grew increasingly furious, launching several attacks at Su Mu, but he was always prepared. Firing an arrow and then immediately moving, he managed to narrowly dodge every counterattack.
After several more arrows, the Demon Court General had a few new wounds, but Su Mu’s stamina was also nearly depleted.
To a creature like the Demon Court General, these were merely flesh wounds, far from fatal.
Su Mu sighed internally. ’The Demon Court General is too difficult to kill.’
When he looked back, he saw that Zhang Wangyue and his group were in dire straits.
’It seems we have no choice but to retreat to Hujue Pass for now, defend from behind the walls, and wait for another opportunity.’
Just as Su Mu was about to signal Ao Qing and Yang Changfeng to retreat...
Suddenly, a great sun, its origin unknown, rose and appeared instantly above the battlefield.
A scorching hot aura instantly blanketed the entire battlefield.
This great sun was only a few dozen yards from the ground, forming a stark contrast with the true sun in the sky.
Su Mu instinctively looked up and was astonished to see a human silhouette at the center of the great sun.
The moment his eyes fell upon the silhouette, the figure raised a hand. A long spear descended, striking like a diving dragon.
PFFT!
With a soft sound, like tearing silk, the long spear effortlessly pierced the Demon Court General’s body, pinning it to the ground.
What followed was a heaven-shaking, agonized wail.
