Wu Yiqi furrowed his brow, a rare sight. ’I don’t like people from the Taiping Bureau, so why am I not happy at all that Su Mu is dead?’

’Before we left the city, wasn’t I trying to find a way to arrest him and hold him accountable?’

’Is it because on this trip, I’ve discovered the Taiping Bureau isn’t what I thought it was?’

He had only ever seen the Taiping Bureau’s arrogant and overbearing side. He had never witnessed them fighting and slaughtering demons in these woods.

But the five Tier Three Demons had already closed in, surrounding them.

Xue Shan sputtered, spitting blood as he kept muttering.

Expressionless, Wu Yiqi swung his saber forward, trying to cut a path for them to escape.

He yanked on the saber but couldn’t wrench it free.

The Tier Three Demon’s huge maw was right in front of him, a rancid stench washing over his face. The creature’s face even twisted into a cruelly human-like smile.

It opened its mouth wide, snapping its jaws shut on Wu Yiqi’s head.

Just as Wu Yiqi prepared to abandon his saber and fall back, a sharp whistle suddenly shot past his ear.

A blood-red arrow shot past, plunging straight into the Tier Three Demon’s wide-open mouth.
