Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 783: That Desperate Gamble
He was extremely rational.
He understood all too well that once the war spread on a large scale, it would trigger a cascade of disasters.
He also keenly realized that something must have happened in the underground great hall that could have already changed the course of the situation, forcing the quill to bring that Fallen Angel out of that area. Because he had actually noticed that just moments ago, the dark magic circle that had been accelerating its decay and destruction had suddenly come to a halt.
And there was no doubt.
This surely meant that something had happened underground during this time.
But if it was absolutely necessary for Big Brother Titan to make a move in order to end this disaster, then it would be better for him to make a desperate gamble, to strangle this catastrophe in its cradle while it wasn't yet too late!
This was almost the best plan available.
"Quick!"
In that instant.
Lynn's gaze was unprecedentedly serious and resolute, his eyes suddenly turning sharp and fierce, the silver light surging from his body growing ever more vast, illuminating the entire darkness of this underground space. And in that quiet room.
The quill paused slightly, clearly hesitating after hearing Lynn's words.
And finally.
Rip—
The blood-stained pen tip fiercely slashed across the words she had previously written that would influence the course of the future. The pen tip danced across the page, rapidly continuing to write from where the text had left off.
[If that Fallen Angel were to leave the underground great hall, then the battle with the Titan Giant God would be inevitable, but the variable that followed would affect the development of the entire situation.]
[The appearance of that human named Lynn was an attempt to stop the Fallen Angel during her departure from that underground hall. Although his strength was very weak, he possessed in his hands an ability sufficient to change the direction of this war, and he was willing to make a desperate gamble.]
[And as the distance closed, the Fallen Angel quickly noticed that insignificant ant daring to challenge her.]
And almost at the very moment her pen tip landed.
In the underground passageway surging with black mist.
Those eyes rolling with death energy instantly reflected the tiny point of silver light blocking her path ahead, rapidly approaching her.
As a Root-level existence of immense power, how could she possibly fail to notice that small obstruction ahead of her.
She sensed Lynn's aura almost at the first moment, and the instant she saw the silver light surging from his body, her gaze twisted with ferocity.
"It's you?!"
She clearly remembered this mere human's interference with her in the Cursed City.
And she was also very well aware.
He possessed some kind of ability to purge curses, and it was precisely because of his existence that so many fallen ones who could never have gathered together had congregated around him. One could say that he was the so-called hope that those fallen ones believed could allow them to leave this hell.
He stood within hell, yet seemed born to be the very antithesis of hell!
"I know what you want to do, and I know your abilities, but your actions are so foolish they're laughable. What? Do you think you can stop me with your own meager strength?"
Black mist roiled between her brows, and cold fury burned madly in her heart.
She remembered his blasphemy.
She also remembered that he was the key to all of this.
And yet he actually dared to appear before her at this moment?! This was simply seeking death!
"Since you're so eager to die, fine, I'll grant your wish! Let you accompany this city in turning to ruins!"
In that instant.
Her gaze twisted violently, pitch-black veins surging to the surface of her pale hands with a rustling sound. Accompanying a ferocious, ghost-like shriek, her arm swung fiercely, and countless pitch-black feathers blasted toward Lynn's direction.
Every single feather was like a blade, imbued with the mighty power of hell.
There was no doubt.
Given Lynn's current strength, in this cramped underground space, he had absolutely no way to evade.
But Lynn's gaze was grave, staring straight at that encroaching darkness. He didn't slow his pace at all, the silver light surging from his entire body as he charged forward without any intention of retreating.
He had placed all his hopes on the quill.
And since there was no avoiding it!
Then he wouldn't avoid it!
Sssssss—
In that split second, a dense barrage of black feathers shot forth. The razor-sharp feathers grazed past Lynn's pupils, whipping past his ears, and he could even clearly hear the harsh sonic booms as they tore through the air beside him.
His clothes were sliced open with tear after tear, flesh easily cut apart, blood splattering freely as if it cost nothing.
[The Fallen Angel launched a devastating strike at Lynn without any surprise, but because she herself was an evil consciousness born from curses, her feathers, upon approaching Lynn, were inevitably subjected to the immense weakening effect of his already-activated Curse Purge ability.]
[Although the feathers were extremely dense and did indeed inflict damage on Lynn, which was unavoidable, by a very fortunate coincidence, most of the attacks did not strike his vital points. Under the combined influence of air resistance, unstable power, and that tiny bit of luck, not a single feather was able to kill the human named Lynn.]
The quill wrote rapidly across the parchment.
Like some kind of subtle, imperceptible influence of a domain.
In the underground passageway, although the feathers were so dense they nearly filled the entire cross-section of the tunnel, eerily, not a single one was able to inflict a fatal wound on Lynn.
It was as if he had received the blessing of Lady Luck, as if he could pass through a rain of arrows without a single drop touching him!
And the Fallen Angel's pupils suddenly dilated.
Because this defied all logic!
And such obvious interference instantly sent a tremor through her consciousness, abruptly reminding her of the Authority that had been altering the course of this situation, which she had somehow unconsciously ignored.
"That quill?!"
Her expression changed drastically in an instant.
And she immediately remembered, yes, she didn't know why, but just moments ago while confronting those Roots, she had already been aware that some Authority-type entity was interfering. Yet in this brief moment, she had completely forgotten and ignored the existence of that quill.
It was as if her thinking and consciousness had subconsciously prevented her from thinking about that quill, causing her to subjectively overlook it.
And all of this had happened without her ever being aware of it!
And in this moment.
Her pupils suddenly dilated wide.
Doubts and confusion suddenly arose in her mind regarding her own actions, fleeting yet extremely clear.
Why did she have to leave that great hall and go out to slaughter in the outside world?
She had already seized the initiative.
By harnessing the power of that music box, she could easily suppress all the Roots, and then simply activate the magic circle, which would plunge the entire city into the chaos she had designed!
Hum—
Her entire body trembled violently, and her face turned deathly pale in an instant.
