Chapter 729: No Need to Be a Little Widow Anymore

  • Next Chapter

Several dozen seconds later.

Little One’s huge head suddenly fell from the high sky and, without a moment’s pause, sped decisively toward the direction Lynn had pointed.

Because this was the first time Brother Doctor had solemnly entrusted something to her.

So no matter what,

she had to put her heart and soul into completing it!

But why did it feel like Brother Doctor’s voice kept echoing beside her??

And it sounded especially close.

So close it felt as if it were hanging on her body.

Could it be a strange hallucination born from missing him too much? Had she really only been away from Brother Doctor for less than ten seconds? Could longing already have reached this degree?

How strange!

Little One didn’t think about it much though, and like a heavy-duty rail train, the tentacles under her neck writhed rapidly as she thundered toward the edge of the Wasteland, not noticing at all the Lin-family creature being dragged behind like a kite.

And finally.

“Mommy—found you!”

She didn’t know how far she had sped, but from a distance Little One saw that enormous head with eyes full of malice, even larger and more numerous than hers, waving tentacles and furiously stabbing at those plushies on the ground.

Little One slammed on the brakes and stopped abruptly, then shouted in a daze.

Hearing that voice, the enormous female head stiffened.

The tentacle that was swinging an iron spike froze.

Those vicious, maddened eyes lifted in confusion and reflected the smaller, bewildered head standing in the distance.

Little One hurriedly dragged the fainted Lynn and rushed over, lifting her head with teary eyes:

“Mommy—don’t poke the little people—You poke Daddy every day until he’s all torn up—if you poke other little people—they’ll get torn up too—”

But obviously,

the curse still permeated the Godweaver Head’s mind, preventing her from staying fully lucid.

Yet clearly, no matter how insane or vicious she was, her attitude toward her own treasured daughter differed completely from how she treated others.

In the chaos and daze of her eyes,

the long, sticky tentacle reached toward Little One, then gently curled around her, lifting her to an ear and pressing the plushie—whose face matched Little One’s—hanging on the tentacle into her hands, muttering confusedly:

“Toy—play—hungry—daughter—eat—”

Her long tentacles writhed and formed one black voodoo magic circle after another. The tentacles pushed inside them, and from within the circles came piercing screams of terror. Then the tentacles rolled up humanoid creatures in panic and presented them before Little One.

Give the daughter something to eat.

Apparently,

even amid the curse’s turmoil, her subconscious still displayed her doting love for her daughter.

Little One stared blankly at the terrified bloody food brought to her mouth and instinctively stuck out her tongue to lick them, prompting fresh terrified screams, but she immediately shook her head, realizing this was not the time to eat. She then curiously looked at the little plushie her mother had brought to her.

And she saw at once.

Hanging behind the head of the plushie that looked like her was a human plushie that looked exactly like Brother Doctor.

“Squeee—!!”

Little One instantly freaked out, her face showing shock for the first time.

She had seen her mother’s habit of poking little people when the curse flared before, so she knew well how terrifying Mommy’s voodoo could be: she could make you become whatever she played with.

Once when Mommy went mad, Daddy cursed once and Mommy hung Daddy’s plushie up and tossed it into the sky, leaving Daddy tormented by that hellish punishment for days!

And if Brother Doctor was tied to her...

She immediately extended a tentacle, grabbed the string tied to Brother Doctor’s plushie neck, and terrifiedly moved the plushie in front of her eyes.

Then she saw, as if choked by an invisible noose, Lynn drooped, tongue out, swaying and eerily moving from behind her to the front.

“Eeeek—!!”

Little One was stunned.

It’s over!

“Brother Doctor—don’t scare me—move a little—”

She trembled and poked with a tentacle.

Lynn, foaming at the mouth, swayed like a hanged man being pushed, clearly almost gone.

Obviously,

the rope had been put on not long ago.

The person had just been taken away.

A wisp of pale smoke rose from Lynn’s head.

Little One burst into tears and clutched Lynn’s body, wailing:

“Brother Doctor—don’t die—sorry—sorry—Little One didn’t know you were hanging back there—Brother, you could at least shout—waa—!”

A funeral feast!

There’s a funeral!

I’m going to be a little widow!

But at the next moment, the sobbing Little One suddenly heard a strong heartbeat. She looked blankly at Lynn’s body in her tentacles, and that drum-like heartbeat thundered again.

She could vaguely see the flow of blood energy across his chest.

And at that instant.

Thud—

Lynn’s eyes flew open, as if he had just returned from the gates of death. Gasping for breath, he widened his eyes and sat up.

Little One gave a tiny startled sound, her eyes full of disbelief.

“Eh—don’t have to—be a little widow?”

Apparently, during her time away from Lynn, her parents had fed her a lot of strange ideas.

Lynn clutched his neck, panting as he lifted his head and asked,

“Where is this?”

Little One blankly said, “At—at Mommy’s place—”

Lynn felt like he had just endured a ridiculous nightmare in which he’d been hanged and died horribly while a crowd around him cried and feasted.

He shook his head hard, scrambled up, and recovered. His gaze immediately fell on the enormous head dozens of times larger than Little One’s, and he turned in shock, seeing the tentacles repeatedly stabbing plushies with iron spikes.

“What on earth is this?”

Lynn was frozen in place.

Little One quickly wiped her tears and looked at Lynn in a daze:

“It’s—Mommy’s ability—when Mommy goes mad—she likes to poke little people—except Little One—Mommy pokes anyone she sees—”

Lynn immediately understood what had happened earlier. Looking at that vicious, bloody scene, he shuddered.

That kind of hobby is terrifying!

Sure enough, actions during a curse’s outbreak could not be reasoned with at all.

Then he suddenly thought of something.

If Wushen Auntie found out he had spanked a tree...

Shivers—

Lynn felt a chill on his scalp, but he knew this was not the time to think about that. There were more important things to do now.

Lynn looked up and gritted his teeth, “Little One, can you control Auntie in this state? If Auntie keeps poking, it’ll be a disaster!”

Little One widened her eyes and nodded vigorously, dazedly saying, “Before—when Mommy got sick—Little One would play the flute for Mommy—then Mommy wouldn’t poke Daddy’s little person—”

Lynn dashed forward and asked eagerly, “Where’s the flute?”

Little One’s face went (✪ω✪): “Trampled flat!”

“……”
