Chapter 705: The Manifestation of the Curse

  • Next Chapter

What lies beyond hell?

Why does this Dark World even exist?

And what connection does it have with that darkness encroaching upon the main universe?

Countless mysteries churned within Lynn's mind, and as the Colossus crossed over, that feeling of being trapped in a cage grew stronger and stronger.

The Colossus had not yet left this hell. Its consciousness was still within that hyper-dimensional mental space, existing within the same system as all Colossus consciousness. But Lynn knew that if it truly managed to leap out of this hell, then his own physical body still trapped in hell would immediately have its connection severed and be thrown back into the Dark World.

If that was the case.

Then he was likely the Colossus's only farewell escort.

Through the link of consciousness, using the Colossus's eyes, Lynn gazed outward.

Black mist churned. In the Colossus's high-speed ascent, it was constantly cast further and further below. He could no longer see the ground beneath the black mist. The Colossus was pushing with all its might toward the boundaries of hell.

But Lynn could clearly sense.

The higher they went, the thicker the black mist became. It was as viscous as being tens of thousands of meters beneath the ocean, weighed down by an unimaginable pressure.

And then, in the next moment, Lynn suddenly heard a heavy clanking sound from within the viscous black mist—like the surging of chains. His pupils contracted sharply. Amid a series of rattling noises, he immediately saw countless pitch-black chains, coiling like serpents, swirling madly from every direction in the black mist.

"Here they come!"

Just as his Big Brother Titan had once leaped upward in fury, only to disturb the hell's curse. Back then, the curse had also manifested as chains and suppressed his Big Brother Titan!

And now, it was the Colossus—one not yet cursed by this hell!

A true god!

He immediately saw the Colossus move. Its strike was far more fierce than he had imagined. Twin pupils flashed with cold light. A single punch sent the swirling chains shattering inch by inch into nothingness under the might of its flesh and blood.

Clearly, the Colossus's Brain had taken control of the Colossus.

But the assault didn't let up. With a cacophony of wailing ghosts, even more pitch-black chains howled and surged toward the Colossus.

Each chain was unimaginably massive. To a human body standing beneath them, they would be giants far larger than the Eiffel Tower. And now, in that dark sky, there were tens of thousands of such chains, converging into a violent, raging flood.

And on the Colossus's body, as it erupted with power, countless black spots surfaced.

That was the manifestation of the curse!

But higher up in the sky, the dense black mist still stretched on endlessly, as if it had no end.

"Sever the connection."

In the void of the mental space, the Colossus's Brain's heavy voice echoed in Lynn's ears.

"Return to your body. The path ahead of me is full of thorns, and I will give it my all. If you don't want to be entangled by this hell's curse, go back now."

Clang—

A scarlet glow flickered in the Colossus's hand. As its flesh writhed, a blood-red spear spanning the firmament was born in its grasp. A blood-red radiance swept over its body as well. Winding flesh forged a black armor engraved with glowing runes across its form.

Like a War God bathed in blood.

Lynn looked up, holding Zuo Zuo in his arms, and said, "I want to witness your failure. But if it's truly possible, I'd rather see you succeed."

The Colossus's silver pupils shimmered, and it spoke deeply, "I will not fail. Even if I fail, I will charge again. Only cowards stay in this hell. My stage lies higher."

Without another word.

Its spear danced wildly. Amid the glow of its silver pupils, it shattered countless chains with a deafening roar.

These petty manifestations of the curse couldn't even get close. With one punch, the thousands of feet of black mist above its head exploded into nothingness under the blood energy.

It looked up, leaped, and stepped on the writhing chains to ascend into the higher sky.

But in that instant.

Countless hoarse whispers filled their ears—chaotic, piercing, as if a thousand Evil Gods were howling in their ears, shaking their will, trying to drag them into the abyss of madness.

Rumble—

High above in the sky, countless enormous eyeballs manifested.

"Go back."

A hollow, mechanical voice, devoid of any emotion, echoed in their ears.

Even within the Colossus's mental space, Lynn was nearly knocked back by that voice. He looked up at the eyeballs, massive as stars. Before this terrifying spectacle, even a being as mighty as the Colossus seemed indescribably small.

And such eyeballs filled nearly the entire sky.

A shudder ran through him.

A malevolent force, evil enough to devour every shred of hope in your soul, sent chills racing down his spine.

"What is this?" he couldn't help but ask, but the words stuck in his throat, as heavy as a thousand pounds.

The Colossus's Brain's cold voice came through, saying, "Looks like gods that have been assimilated by this hell. They still have some divinity, but they're different from the gods of our era. Many of their imprints seem older than me. Still, their consciousness and thoughts have been twisted. More like fragments manifested."

It paid no heed. Under the gaze of countless eyeballs, it still shot straight toward the sky.

But in that moment.

The high sky churned. A broken, decayed hand that blotted out the heavens, like Mount Tai bearing down, reached for the Colossus. Green slime dripped from it, and the bone beneath was exposed.

The Colossus's Brain snorted coldly. It spun its spear, dodged nothing, and thrust straight upward.

Crunch—

That giant hand was torn apart by the Colossus, dissipating into countless black mists.

But almost as soon as that hand faded, a colossal, decayed ship—built entirely of piled bones—rumbled out of the black mist. Amid the howling of skeletons, it drove countless screeching Undead, rushing toward the Colossus with a roar.

Lynn could even clearly see the ship's deck. Countless skeletons sat cross-legged, dressed in tattered ancient robes, staring at them with hollow eyes.

What was that?!

Lynn was shaken.

It was as if it had sailed out of the endless river of time, carrying a heavy curse, determined to drag you into the abyss.

And this time, even the Colossus chose not to take it head-on.

Lynn felt the Colossus's Heart thud heavily. Its massive body tore through space itself, forcibly teleporting to avoid the ancient ghost ship's sweep, stepping onto an even higher sky.
