Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 693: Stepping into the Colossus's Gate
Sir Aiwen's words made Lynn immediately realize how grave the situation was.
But Lynn did not panic. He stared at the furrowed-browed Sir Aiwen, reached into System Space, and produced the chip, saying,
"Do you still remember this, Big Brother Aiwen?"
Aiwen's gaze fell on the chip in his palm, his eyes reflecting the small piece of hardware pulsing with Psychic Energy.
"This is my memory chip. How is it in your possession?"
A faint smile appeared on Lynn's face as he said, "You gave it to me yourself. After you ascended to Root you told me, if one day you suddenly couldn't remember my name, to give you this chip so the copy inside could restore your lost memories. Do you still remember how to use it?"
Sir Aiwen accepted the chip with a tight frown.
Memory loss.
Sometimes it seeps in, imperceptible.
Maybe in an instant, without you noticing, so much just slips away."I remember." He gripped the chip, staring deeply at Lynn, and said,
"And I also remember this is the last spark of our Cyber Civilization. It holds the memory of our entire culture. I may have forgotten your name, but since I dared to entrust this chip to you, you are the person I trust most, my dear friend."
Lynn smiled slightly, and the worry that had lingered in his eyes finally disappeared.
Because he understood.
Partial memory loss would not truly rob Sir Aiwen of his judgment.
His wisdom still upheld the principles he fought for.
"Restore it, Big Brother Aiwen. Before the curse erases all your memories, let you recover what you've lost."
Lynn looked at him earnestly.
Sir Aiwen stared at the chip, tugging at it faintly.
Then, as if making a decision, he shook his head slightly and placed the chip back into Lynn's hand.
He lifted his head, looked toward the Gate, and shook it,
"No, it's not time yet. If I restore those lost memories now, I won't be able to hold my Root rank. Even though I can't remember your name, I still remember the present situation. Three Root beings are watching hungrily. If I fall now, the situation will only worsen."
He closed his eyes, Psychic Energy surging through him.
"Though, if I think hard, I can still recall a little."
"I don't know if I told you this before, but there's another reason I came here. Not only must I prevent those two Divine Cults from seizing the Colossus's Brain, I must also try to contain the Colossus's Brain myself. It used to be my friend. After it fell, I hope it will, as much as possible, stand on my side, stand on..."
He frowned, glancing at the clothes Lynn wore.
"Nightfall City?"
He clearly had forgotten many things.
But Lynn understood his meaning.
Lynn's gaze flickered. "Then we—"
Before he could finish the sentence, a piercing flash suddenly rose from the depths of the blood mist in the distance.
In merely a split-second, that flash accelerated and enlarged, appearing almost instantly before them.
Even Lynn's pupils reflected that annihilating death beam.
Boom—
A tremendous explosion sounded.
A chill, indifferent voice rumbled above them.
"I knew you would come."
The blood mist writhed wildly. The ground was blasted into a huge crater by that strike. As dust rolled away and Psychic Energy shimmered, Sir Aiwen's eyes glowed with Psychic Energy. He slowly raised his head, took a step forward, brushed the dust from himself, and said,
"God of All Machines."
A deafening dragon roar.
The blood mist scattered violently as a massive vortex formed. High above, a gigantic mechanical dragon head—so huge it nearly blotted out the view—suddenly emerged from the blood mist, its dragon eye shimmering with streams of data, radiating an indescribable, terrifying pressure.
Its enormous wings churned the crimson fog into a storm. It looked down coldly at the revealed Sir Aiwen and Lynn and said,
"Cyber, I am pleased we once formed an alliance. So I will still give you a chance. Hand that human over to me now, and the Mechanical Cult and Nightfall City will become your closest allies. We are all ascenders. Do you really want the Colossus's legacy to be taken by those two Flesh and Blood Roots?"
Sir Aiwen gave a faint smile and lifted his head. His body seemed ghostlike, swelling with wind until he transformed into a Psychic Giant on the same enormous scale as the God of All Machines.
"No, Intelligence Machine, I know you. If you devour the Colossus's Brain, the first blade you will strike with is against me. The Trinity you have longed for is within reach; you will never miss that chance."
The God of All Machines sneered coldly and looked down at him,
"Indeed."
"Cyber, when it comes to the Trinity, there is an irreconcilable conflict between us. But you cannot stop me. The underlying logic here is Colossus technology, and my years of studying the Colossus have benefited me greatly. In this place, those two Flesh and Blood Roots are no match for me, and you will not be either."
In an instant, there was no more talk.
The dragon roar struck like an earthquake, making the ground tremble. The beating of its vast wings cast an overwhelming shadow over the land.
Roar—
The furious death beams instantly vaporized the blood mist across the sky.
Sir Aiwen suddenly raised his head and said in a deep voice, "Lynn! You go find the Colossus's Brain, I'll hold him off! Those two Flesh and Blood Roots should be coming quickly too. It will be dangerous here, but if you can awaken the Colossus's Brain, at least for now, it will choose to stand with us!"
Boom—
Almost the moment he finished speaking, his surging Psychic Energy collided with the furious death beams, blinding light covering the sky.
Lynn did not hesitate. With a calm expression, he grabbed Zuo Zuo's hand, vaulted up onto Little Treasure, and shouted,
"Let's go!"
Under Sir Aiwen's protection, Lynn rode Little Treasure and sped toward the massive Colossus's Gate standing atop the steps.
The God of All Machines's gaze flashed. Cold beams burst from its giant pupils.
"With just you?"
In an instant two crimson particle beams shot from its eyes. Lynn instantly recognized those binding light streams used earlier by the Mechanical Consciousnesses to tightly restrain Colossus consciousness. The God of All Machines wanted to seize him, use him to open the Colossus's Gate, and personally access the Colossus's Brain.
It did not try to kill Lynn outright, obviously having learned from past mistakes.
Sir Aiwen snorted.
Under his watch, if the God of All Machines succeeded, all his claims to being Cyber's ascender would be for nothing.
Boom—
Just as the light streams were about to strike Lynn, Psychic Energy shimmered and redirected the God of All Machines's attempt thousands of meters away. Reality itself twisted like a kaleidoscope, clearing the path before Lynn.
Lynn seized the chance, grabbed Zuo Zuo's hand, leapt, and planted his foot on the steps.
Almost the instant he touched the stair, blinding light burst from beneath, and the Colossus's Hyper-Dimensional Perception manifested again, as if the towering gate's interior scenes reflected in his eyes.
It revealed the contours of consciousness swimming in a sea of knowledge.
One step forward.
Lynn sprang upward, his fingers stretching to the closed Gate.
"Don't even think about it!"
An enraged dragon roar.
The God of All Machines, furious, forced open Sir Aiwen's interference with a heavy move. From its huge maw a raging, icy dragon flame shot toward Lynn's position.
Lynn turned sharply, his gaze profound.
At that moment he showed no hesitation and did not wait for Sir Aiwen's support. He stepped forward and strode straight into the icy death flame.
Zuo Zuo was stunned and cried, "Brain! What are you doing?"
But Lynn did not answer.
As Lynn met the cold dragon flame head-on, the God of All Machines twitched its eyelid, enraged. Just as he was about to be consumed, it forcibly redirected the dragon flame, changing its trajectory to avoid killing him outright.
Everyone was shaken.
Lynn gave a cold smile and glanced at the God of All Machines. Taking advantage of that moment, he slammed his hand onto the Gate.
Because he knew.
The God of All Machines dared not truly kill him—the wound on Lynn's neck was still ghastly to behold.
It absolutely would not risk summoning that light screen again at this moment to finish him off!
