Chapter 692: The Amnesiac Sir Aiwen

“Let’s move!”

Without wasting any more time here.

After reuniting with Zuo Zuo, the Colossus’s Heart’s weight had been fully restored, and with Sir Aiwen accompanying them, they now had a fighting chance even against other Roots. Still no news from Little One and Miss Puppet, but now that the Colossus’s Brain’s location had been exposed, as long as they weren’t in danger, they should be heading that way too.

The blood mist spread everywhere.

No stops whatsoever.

With Sir Aiwen accelerating at full power, it took them less than ten minutes to reach the location of the Colossus’s Gate.

The moment they stepped out of the blood mist, they saw the countless fragments of Mechanical Consciousness scattered all around.

Clearly.

Not long ago, a massive battle had erupted here.

And on the long staircase leading to the Colossus’s Gate, there were traces of destruction everywhere, with the gate itself showing clear signs of repeated impacts.

“Be careful, the God of All Machines should be lurking nearby. And judging by the battle scars here, those two Roots from the Flesh and Blood Cult might be present too!”

Sir Aiwen’s eyes flickered as Psychic Energy swept out like a flowing stream, masking their presence.

Lynn squinted, staring at the massive gate ahead, and asked:

“Sir Aiwen, let me ask a stupid question—since they can’t open this gate anyway, if we just leave here, won’t they never be able to find the Colossus’s Brain’s consciousness?”

Sir Aiwen looked up and said, “No. Right now, the Colossus’s Brain is still untouched by curses, so the mental space it’s released can trap all the Roots. But that won’t last long. It’s already caught the attention of this hell. Being cursed is only a matter of time.”

“And when that happens, its rank will drop to the same level as ours as a Root. Then it won’t be able to control us anymore, which also means we won’t have to follow this space’s rules.”

His intent was clear.

At this stage, even if they wanted to leave this space, it was impossible.

Because the partially awakened Colossus’s Brain’s rank far exceeded the Root level!

But as time passed, once this space collapsed and the Colossus’s Brain’s consciousness fully awakened and became cursed, the Colossus’s Heart would no longer be needed as a key.

And the final outcome.

Would undoubtedly lead to another all-out struggle among the Roots for the Colossus’s Brain.

By then, they’d only be even more passive.

Lynn scanned the battlefield, his gaze flickering. “So what do we do now?”

Sir Aiwen said deeply, “Don’t act rashly. We’ve already lost the initiative. The God of All Machines has probably figured out how to open this gate. If you show up now, you’ll just walk right into its trap. You should be grateful that the Desire Mother Tree probably didn’t know the true function of the Colossus’s Heart back then.”

Lynn nodded.

Indeed.

If she had, the Desire Mother Tree would have had no reason to let him go.

Now, all they could do was wait.

The blood mist swirled, and silence surrounded them.

Lynn turned to look at Zuo Zuo beside him, grabbed her wrist tightly, and said in a low voice:

“Zuo Zuo, stay close to me. Remember, don’t run off anywhere, got it?”

Zuo Zuo glanced at him but said nothing.

Her gaze fixed on the tightly shut gate. For some reason, a strong call—like something from the same hell, of the same origin—whispered softly in her ears.

It made her want to approach that gate, even though she didn’t know what lay behind it.

She shook her head hard, but it didn’t help.

When she looked at Big Tongue beside her, he seemed to be in a similar state, with brief moments of confusion.

It was as if fragmented images drifted gently through her mind.

Becoming an irresistible pull.

Time slowly passed.

Lynn lurked in the blood mist, his eyes still vigilantly fixed on the scene before the gate, saying:

“Big Brother Aiwen, can you sense where the God of All Machines is? I feel like something’s off.”

Sir Aiwen pressed his fingers to his temple, Psychic Energy stirring, and looked up, saying:

“I’m probing. This blood mist greatly affects perception. If they’re deliberately hiding, finding them will be very difficult.”

“But the two of us have defeated it before. Once you’re fully restored, we can beat it again.”

Lynn nodded.

But at that very moment, Lynn suddenly froze. His gaze snapped back to Sir Aiwen.

No.

Lynn immediately caught something in Sir Aiwen’s words that he had almost overlooked.

“Big Brother Aiwen?”

“Hmm?”

Sir Aiwen didn’t turn his head, his eyes still scanning the blood mist with Psychic Energy’s support.

And Lynn finally stared at him, slowly voicing the crucial question.

“Sir Aiwen, I’m Lynn, right?”

Sir Aiwen, completely focused, almost subconsciously replied: “You’re not the Colossus’s—”

Buzz—

At that instant.

Sir Aiwen’s body stiffened. He slowly lowered his fingers from his temple, turned his head to meet Lynn’s gaze, and his brow furrowed tightly.

Seeing his reaction, Lynn’s heart sank, and he immediately realized the terrifying problem.

Sir Aiwen…

His curse had probably fully taken hold of him.

“I’ve forgotten something, haven’t I?” Sir Aiwen stared into his eyes, his gaze flickering.

Lynn said deeply, “Do you still know who you are now?”

Sir Aiwen frowned, thought carefully for a moment, looked up at him, and said:

“Aiwen, Cyber Ascender. My civilization was wiped out in the chaos three thousand years ago. I fell into hell. The Colossus Ascender and I were old comrades who fought side by side. After falling, I was… was…”

He stopped.

His frown deepened, and the clarity in his eyes slowly gave way to confusion amid the chaos.

“I was…”

Lynn’s heart grew heavier. “You were saved by the Matriarch, once a fallen twelve-winged Sacred Angel. Later, you became a Nine-Cross Veteran of Nightfall City. Your mission here is twofold: first, to maintain balance between the Mechanical and the Flesh and Blood Cult, and second, to protect me. My name is Lynn. Although I’m hosting the Colossus’s Heart, my identity is a Night Doctor of Nightfall City. So are you.”

Sir Aiwen paused, staring straight at him without a word.

And finally.

After who knows how long.

“I don’t remember.”
