Chapter 1570: Chapter 47: Massacre (Part 2)
With a retching sound, Chen Juan started to vomit violently. Even someone like her, who was used to death and all sorts of horrific injuries, couldn’t accept the tragic scene before her eyes.
Perhaps it was under Chen Juan’s influence, or maybe the turbulence of the Mecha was just too much; the other members of the medical team also turned pale. Two female nurses with lower tolerance vomited to the point of dizziness, and several male doctors were dazed, their faces turning white.
"What are you standing around for?!" A fierce shout woke everyone up. Chen Juan looked up to see a Lieutenant Colonel twenty meters away, frantically waving in her direction: "Hurry up, bring the Mecha over!"
Beside the doctors, there was a relatively flat area in the center of the position... It looked like a Mecha concealment room with the explosion-proof shed dismantled. Two smaller Green Light medical Mechas had already deployed into hospital mode there. Hundreds of soldiers, carrying stretchers, shuttled back and forth, and dozens of nurses and medics were busy with medical kits and trays in hand.
The four patient beds set up by the medical Mechas were each ten meters high and twenty meters wide, already covered with stretchers. Blue glows were wandering within grids one meter wide and long, engaged in wound sterilization and body checks. Those with severe injuries were swiftly extracted by mechanical arms and sent into the Mecha’s surgery room or liquid medical pods.
In the distance, more wounded were continuously being brought in.
Coming to their senses, the medical team quickly crossed the trench, stepping through the mud towards the battlefield hospital. The Mecha pilot swiftly drove the Mecha to the vacant land beside the hospital and initiated deployment mode.
For doctors, saving lives is a battle.
Chen Juan had completely forgotten her discomfort and fear, throwing herself fully into her work.
The arrival of the large Holy Light medical Mecha instantly enhanced the efficiency of this temporary hospital significantly. Members of the two initially arrived medical teams heaved a sigh of relief, while soldiers busy supporting their wounded comrades sent grateful smiles to Chen Juan and others, rejuvenating everyone’s spirits.
Just after treating a wounded soldier, Chen Juan suddenly heard a commotion from the front lines.
She straightened up and saw those mud-covered, battle-scarred warriors rushing over in a wave, carrying four stretchers. The crowd surged like waves, with shouts of "Hurry, hurry" tearing through the air.
The stretchers were being carried by more than a dozen Chuckna Warriors, with four people to each stretcher originally meant for two, and others lending a hand on the sides. They ran rapidly towards this direction, with someone in front desperately waving, clearing the way. In places with trenches, someone immediately jumped down, offering shoulders for them to step on.
Even other soldiers around were running alongside the stretchers in waves, as if even if they couldn’t squeeze into the crowd to help, just running along could somehow contribute!
Before Chen Juan could figure out what was happening, the crowd had already surged right up to her.
"Officer, save them, save them!" The voice of a Lieutenant who rushed up to Chen Juan was tinged with tears, begging as he quickly made way.
The four stretchers appeared in front of Chen Juan, the bodies on them being four bloodied Mechanical Warriors. They lay silently on the stretchers, clearly having fallen into comas. Their helmets had been removed, and from their muddied bodies, the dark blue uniforms distinct from Chuckna Soldiers could still be discerned.
The four wounded were of different ages; the oldest seemed to be over thirty, while the youngest looked only twenty-one or twenty-two. Their demeanor was not that of regular soldiers. Chen Juan, familiar with the military demeanor, found the four wounded in front of her looked like ordinary soldiers with low ranks, or perhaps more like Militia, except for one Captain of twenty-five or six.
"Officer, save them!" The countless tearful pleas of the warriors at her ears struck Chen Juan’s heart sharply.
She raised her head blankly, seeing faces so dirty that their features were indiscernible. These young Chuckna Warriors, some biting their lips and looking at her hopefully, some with reddened eyes, holding back tears. More were already in tears, large drops streaming from their eyes, carving shallow white grooves on their filthy faces.
"Major, you must save them no matter what." The Lieutenant Colonel, who was commanding the temporary hospital’s rescue work, squeezed into the crowd, red-eyed, speaking to Chen Juan: "They are the Mechanical Warriors of the bandit army. Without them standing before us, Sunset Mountain wouldn’t have held until now!"
Bandit army! This term suddenly made it all clear for Chen Juan.
This name, she had heard not even a hundred times in the last two days. She understood even better, without the bandit army, not only Sunset Mountain, but the entire situation on Leifeng Star would be entirely different by now!
Countless Western Alliance Armored Forces would be speeding through the Phoenix City Plain wrapped in billowing dust, and jets like iron eagles would turn the city into a sea of fire. The city residents, only recently stabilized, would perish under artillery fire. Once Leifeng Star was fully occupied by the Western Alliance, battleships would cross the vast cosmos and break into other Star Domains’ Jump Points within Chuckna.
No need to hear more from the Lieutenant Colonel and the surrounding soldiers. Back when they were gathering at the rear, Chen Juan and every member of the medical team already knew everything that had happened on Sunset Mountain.
