Chapter 1569: Chapter 47: Massacre (Part 2)

On January 6, 2064, the Fei Alliance Joint Army defeated the Western Alliance forces led by Langman, and twenty long-prepared divisions of the Fei Alliance advanced swiftly westward along the densely interwoven highways of the basin’s western region. All who stood in their way were thoroughly defeated.

War Fire burned on every inch of land in the western Sunset Mountain Basin.

The Su Jie Alliance Army, which had suffered heavy losses in the Sunset Mountain battle, was already in low spirits. Discovering they had fallen into a trap, their morale collapsed entirely. Aside from the scattered fleeing forces that attacked Sunset Mountain, the garrison troops at various strategic points in the western part of the basin all abandoned their positions and retreated westward before the advancing Fei Alliance forces.

From the sky, looking south to the Charloks Mountain Range and north to the Socrates Mountain Range, the broad western basin spanning nearly sixty kilometers was a scene of countless armored groups raising clouds of dust, rampaging back and forth. Between the two mountain ranges, there were countless plumes of gun smoke amidst advancing Fei Alliance Armored Forces and Western Alliance Soldiers surrendering with hands raised.

The medical officer, Chen Juan, furrowed her brows, sitting inside the shaking Medical Mecha, her heart tumultuous.

This Medical Mecha, named Holy Light, was even larger than a regiment-level Command Mecha. It had twelve intermediate medical cabins, six operating rooms, and thirty-two beds. If deployed in battlefield hospital mode, it could simultaneously handle over two hundred wounded.

However, since this model of mecha was designed for battlefield emergency care, it needed sufficient survivability, so its comfort during movement wasn’t as good as other models of Medical Mecha.

Its designer equipped it with thickened armor, tiny portholes smaller than a human face, a powerful engine, and a beast-like Drive System. When it was in motion mode, sitting inside felt like being locked in a small, airtight room next to a noisy engine room, tossed about in howling wind and giant waves.

The agony was enough to turn the strongest lion into a sickly, pitiful cat!

Chen Juan bit hard on her bluish lips, her delicate fingers gripping the seat’s armrest tightly. The faces of other members of the medical team sitting around her reflected similar discomfort.

But everyone was enduring it.

They all knew the mech’s main pilot couldn’t afford to care about them now, continuously increasing speed instead. Aside from the Medical Mecha they were in, the command had dispatched nearly all medical teams.

Their destination was Sunset Mountain!

The battle of Sunset Mountain was over. That small hill, with its highest peak barely over two hundred meters, ultimately stood against the repeated attacks by over ten armored divisions of the Western Alliance.

No one knew what the peaks ravaged by artillery for over ten hours looked like now. But with the command dispatching nearly sixty Medical Mecha, emptying all the rear medical warehouses, and even leaving a third of its medical personnel with the counterattacking troops, people could envision a general picture in their minds.

The atmosphere in the cockpit was suffocatingly heavy.

A few minutes later, the mech, which had been steadily climbing, finally halted, and a green light illuminated. The heavy hatch slowly descended towards the ground, guided by hydraulic rods. Sunlight poured in through the open hatch like a flood, making it difficult for anyone to open their eyes. Chen Juan squinted her eyes slightly, being the first to step out of the mech. Sunlight and fresh air were what she craved most at that moment.

However, the moment she stepped out of the mech, all the blood drained from Chen Juan’s face, leaving it pale as paper.

Her eyes struggled to move, and as each member of the medical team walked to her side, they halted, staring vacantly at the scene before them.

In front of them lay a hell beneath the sunlight.

On the low hilltops, countless winding trenches crisscrossed, extending into the distance. Thick black smoke rose from the burning mecha wreckage, drifting diagonally towards the sky with the wind. The entire battlefield was suffused with a pungent, burnt odor.

Bodies, some missing limbs, lay scattered about; bizarrely shaped mecha debris layered upon one another, spreading across the distant landscape, covering the hills and valleys, filling the entire view.

The number? Thousands upon thousands!

Steel and flesh, black and red, came abruptly without transition, striking everyone’s hearts. Amidst the endless bodies, some were just indistinguishable masses of flesh, some had become charred remnants within burnt mecha wreckage, while many more lay, sprawled, knelt, sat, or curled quietly.

Less than two meters from the mecha, a segment of trench had collapsed, and at least ten bodies were piled in the trench floor five meters below. Within them, there were both Suss people and Chuckna people. These fallen soldiers were caked in mud, with limbs missing. Some lacked hands and feet, while others had their chests or lower abdomens pierced with gruesome holes.

The red flesh flipped outward as mud flowed beneath them, all mixed with blood, a black-red ooze.

Tattered weapons lay scattered around. Bullet holes, varying in size, were everywhere. The trench’s metal bulletproof walls had become scrap metal, and the originally silvery metal sheets transformed into twisted metal strips, stained with shocking radiating blood splatter.

This was no longer the lush hill one could see from Sunset Mountain Satellite City; it was the apocalyptic kingdom of the Demon King.
