Seeing the Little Grass in Chen Xing’s bag, the two men stared in disbelief.

Chen Xing explained that she had stumbled upon Little Grass while she was alone and had simply trapped it under a glass dome...

They had no choice but to believe her; she had, in fact, obtained the rare species.

After the three of them got into the car, they contacted the pilot.

He said that due to the weather on his end, he wouldn’t be able to arrive for another two days.

So, the trio began driving back the way they came at a very slow pace.

Just then, the ground began to shake violently.

The three of them exchanged a look.

It was Xiao Long who spoke up. "Is that an earthquake?"

Chen Xing got out of the car cautiously. After the recent cycle of extreme temperature shifts, the air was still supposed to be on the cooler side.

But right now, the air outside was sweltering.

In the distance, the peak of a mountain several kilometers away appeared to be shrouded in mist.

"Sister Xing, look at the ground! It’s like something’s about to erupt from it..." Wen Yan said in terror, pointing at the earth, which seemed to be breathing.

"Sister Xing... is a volcano about to erupt?" Xiao Long had a casual interest in geology and liked to read about it online.

The current signs were unmistakably precursors to a volcanic eruption.

Chen Xing immediately jumped back into the car, whipped it around, and sped off in the opposite direction.

’It must be because of the volcano. People don’t dare live here... Or maybe all the buildings have been turned to rock.’

Just then, a massive shockwave hit them from behind.

Chen Xing didn’t dare look back. She just focused on driving with all her might.

She had to outrun the lava to survive.

She herself wasn’t in much danger; she could just duck into her Jiezhi Space and even get food from there.

But Wen Yan and Xiao Long couldn’t do that.

"Sister Xing, are we going to die?" Wen Yan asked, his face a mask of terror as he watched the rolling liquid approach in the rearview mirror.

Chen Xing didn’t answer him. She just slammed her foot down on the accelerator.

It wasn’t as if they had zero chance of survival.

At the very least, they had a half-hour head start on the volcano.

Finally, an uphill road appeared ahead. Not long after, they spotted a city.

It wasn’t a large city, built on the mountainside and resembling a small county town in Huaxia. All the buildings were under six stories tall.

Apparently aware of the eruption, a few people were watching from their windows.

The car drove straight through the city, finally stopping behind a row of houses on the high ground above it.

They couldn’t see much from this vantage point, but a wave of heat washed over them, so intense it felt like it could melt them.

Chen Xing felt this wasn’t safe enough.

So, the three humans and one tiger got back into the car and continued driving uphill.

Once they crested the mountain, they were forced to slam on the brakes.

The other side of the mountain was a scene of utter devastation.

Orange-red lava had flooded the entire landscape, with only specks of green visible on the few remaining mountain peaks.

However, it looked as if the eruption had subsided and wasn’t continuing.

Chen Xing and the others stopped on the mountaintop, where they had a view of both sides.

"The Capital City is so much better!" Wen Yan exclaimed, thoroughly frightened.

He’d never imagined that coming out on a mission would mean surviving a natural disaster that nearly killed him, rather than dying in some epic battle.

"Did you forget the hail the size of human heads?" Chen Xing reminded him, twisting the knife.

Wen Yan: "..." He actually had forgotten about that.

"It’s too hot. You two stay in the car with the AC on. I’m going down into the city to see if I can find any gasoline," Chen Xing said. Seeing how unbearably hot it was, she had them remain in the vehicle.

There wasn’t much gas left in the tank; if they didn’t find more, the car wouldn’t last long.

And who knew when this heat would finally break?

"Why don’t we just drive down together?" Xiao Long suggested.

It was so hot outside, and he was worried Chen Xing wouldn’t be able to handle it.

"We don’t know what it’s like down there. We should always have an escape route, right?" With that, Chen Xing started down the mountain on her own.

She left Meng Hu in the car.

For one, it was hot, and Meng Hu’s thick fur would probably make it even more uncomfortable for him.

For another, if danger approached the car, Meng Hu would alert her, ensuring they wouldn’t be caught unawares and separated.

Chen Xing was fairly tolerant of the heat.

In her past life, she had survived in fifty-degree-Celsius weather with nothing to aid her.

The distance wasn’t far, and since it was downhill, she reached the city in about ten minutes.

She checked the nearest few buildings first but found no one.

She had clearly seen people when they drove through earlier.

In truth, she didn’t actually need to find gasoline; she had plenty in her space.

She just thought the city was strange.
