Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 315: Marathon Home Runs In A Familiar Jail
[FROLO]
The city of Frolo needed a break. There was no denying that, especially after the latest video was released. It was insane, really, because this was the kind of thing no one in their right mind would ever do.
Yet the surprise had stayed. The sympathy had gotten skewed, and the meter for madness had just gone overkill.
No one was supposed to go through all this.
No one.
"A video has been released of Sergei torturing Katya, Chairman Romanov, and blaming him for the explosion."
"Is SERGEI really returning? That is the question the entire Frolo is asking today as the gory torture video is released into the social spaces and shared across."
"He never really loved him, damn. The devil of Frolo really meant it when he said he and Chairman Romanov were nothing more than coworkers."
Everyone was having mixed reactions.
The citizens of Frolo had remained indoors, terrified shitless for what was happening. They knew Katya Romanov was kind, and some had even suspected that he had been framed.
But at the same time, they knew Sergei Moskowsky didn’t operate on a humanity meter. The man always did whatever he thought was good for his company.
And right now, what everyone in the city was seeing was madness.
It didn’t help that there was a leak of the press conference Sergei was supposed to hold in fifteen minutes. It was like everything was going to shit, and right in the middle of it was the devil of Frolo.
Soon enough, the city found itself more confused than it had been by Sergei’s silence.
This wasn’t normal.
This wasn’t okay.
And in a daring move, the citizens dared to ask the government for help. Because they wanted to save Katya Romanov.
They were practically begging for the Moskowskys’ permit to be recalled until Mr. Moskowsky proved himself a better man. That he was not that cruel.
It was outrageous; the video and the lore everyone watched, a bloody Katya, one who looked like he’d been through all the hell and hadn’t been able to come out successfully, kept spreading.
The social hashtags were brought to life.
Hashtag save Katya Romanov from Sergei Moskowsky.
Hashtag omegas need to be able to live freely.
Hashtag Katya Romanov is being framed.
Hashtag omega lives matter.
The chaos was intense, and yet, unlike the other times, this time, no one stepped out into the street to protest.
Because they knew Sergei.
And Sergei didn’t give a fuck about anyone.
But surely one man wasn’t supposed to be bigger than a government, right?
Then again, across the city, in a manor down the street from the Romanov manor, the Myrtles laughed at the absurdity of it all.
"I can do better than that in an hour," Meera sighed, criticizing the audio that had been used in the now viral video of her boss harassing and torturing the Romanov omega.
"I’m schizophrenic, yet even I can do better than those bruises. Kenzo really needs to find better video editors. How can someone have so much money and still have such an ass production?" Rastenkin mocked as he dipped his fingers into Elara’s popcorn.
"Goodness, you’re not schizophrenic, you stupid tart," Elara grumbled as she swatted Rastenkin’s fingers from her popcorn bowl.
"Go make your own," she added, and the man stared at her as if she had just stabbed him in the heart.
"What do they even gain from trying so hard and failing pathetically to slander the Romanov omega each time?" Reeves wondered. He couldn’t even understand why people were so obsessed with Katya.
When they had gotten the Romanov omega files a year ago, Reeves hadn’t seen anything suspicious about the omega his boss was obsessed with.
If anything, to Reeves, Katya Romanov was the most normal person he had ever seen interact with Sergei.
The Romanov omega was not from their world of chaos. He believed in life, in kindness, and the value of preserving life. He was nothing like them at all.
Even when cornered, he was still the soft and polite omega.
So, the fact that Kenzo was doing all this just didn’t make any sense to him. What exactly was Kenzo aiming for? What was his intention in the madness that he was triggering?
"If we go to war against him, I wanna be the one to kill him," Meera said, like she was making a claim that many would challenge her for.
"He has grey hair," Rastenkin teased.
"Then it’s a good thing we were in that nursing home for so long, no?" Meera said, and they all just sighed as they watched the video of Katya being tortured by Sergei again.
It was not something that anyone would ever be comfortable with, but the Myrtles had inflicted worse than what the video showed, so there was no need to be concerned, right?
Yet inside the Moskowsky penthouse, Katya Romanov snickered at the video he was watching.
He looked so beaten and bruised in the video. He looked so tortured, and the fact that the audio was almost real was supposed to be scary for him, seeing as it was obvious he was the target.
Yet all he could let out was a series of snickers while his friends had gone deathly silent.
Even Sergei, who was supposed to be defending himself and saying it was not him, looked like he had a battle to lead his warriors into. Like some people needed to be taught a lesson.
"They dyed my hair silver... I think it looks good," Katya said, trying to break the silence that had been since the video came through.
"So stabbing Petrov was not good enough for them this morning," Andre mused, and Katya chuckled again.
Before his brain caught up and paused for a bit.
"Petrov?" Katya wondered carefully, because the only Petrov in their lives was his boyfriend.
Aleksandr...
No one gave him an answer.
"I’ll need my sniper rifle again," Svet said, like she was talking about the weather and not reacting to the fact that Sergei had been implicated in a video, torturing Katya so badly it was hard to watch.
"I’m sorry, Solnyshka," Sergei breathed, finally breaking the silence.
And the Romanov camp looked at him as if wondering what the fuck he meant by that.
"The video is fake, Vladimir... I’m here with you, see?" Katya chuckled softly, and Sergei stared at him, sadness in his eyes, along with a sorrow that he never thought he’d ever see in Sergei’s eyes.
"I’d never lay a hand on you, ever," Sergei said, the worry real in his voice, a sudden concern for Katya’s friends who were already tucking their weapons from the table and hiding them like they had earlier when they walked in.
"Vladimir..."
"First, they tried to slander you for what you did not do," Sergei said quietly, the pain in his voice making Katya want to reach out to him on the other couch.
"Vla—"
"Now they’re making the realm think I’d lay a hand on you..."
"I’m not hurt, though," Katya tried to reason.
"Oh, you sweet little thing," Svet said as she ruffled Katya’s hair.
"They’re preparing the city psychologically," Andre said, looking at Katya softly as if to explain why everyone was so pissed by the video.
"What?"
"You’re officially a direct target for the Bratva, Romanov," Svet explained.
"I’m going to burn them all for it," Sergei swore calmly before he got up and kissed Katya’s forehead gently.
"No matter what I become, lyubim... I pray you never forget... that I love you, Solnyshka. Always."
Then Sergei left.
