Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 130: The Law Changes If You Wish It
[FROLO]
"He really married you..."
"Gave you everything except what is in Vitya’s name..."
"Then disappeared like he didn’t just give his entire life’s work away?" Svet added, the disbelief snapping Katya from the reminder of the one person that the barbarian had given the world and all that was in it.
Katya couldn’t match that.
He was an omega.
He was someone so insignificant to the Moskowsky household.
There had to be some things that his friends had missed.
Yet Katya also knew that since the contract signing, his friends had always been looking for loopholes they could exploit to free Katya from the darn Moskowskys. If there had been a loophole, they would have used it.
If it wasn’t the same, they would have figured it out, fast and wet to Moskowsky with it.
But now...
Fuck.
"Romanov... You need to sit for this," Svet said as she stared at the papers and her friend.
This was not easy for them either, but then they had questioned everything in the contract. They had done their best to narrow it all down because, honestly, the contract wasn’t even that long.
Just insane is all.
And diabolical.
"For the devil, he really is something," Svet said in silent disapproval, even though the facts were right there.
However, even that didn’t make it any different, because Svetlana was still determined to strangle Sergei and kill him for Katya’s peace of mind.
Yet each question that Svet and Andre had asked was a reminder that Katya needed to confirm this shit for himself. None of this made any sense, and finally, his friends were seeing it too.
Maybe they just had to read it one more time to check if there were any hidden clauses.
"No... He is Sergei Moskowsky. He is NOT whatever these papers are saying," Katya said, his denial obvious.
There was just no way that this was real.
"Romanov..." Andre trailed off when he noticed the denial that was obvious on his friend’s face. They couldn’t even blame the man.
Sergei Moskowsky didn’t exactly have the best of reputations in the city, even after he disappeared from work. The man was still a menace, taunting and haunting the city for wherever the fuck he was at the moment.
On one end, Katya was too skeptical.
But on the other hand...
"This is insane," Katya breathed.
They were the same.
"Look at the first lines," Svet urged, and Katya stared.
The first contract read, "marriage between Alpha Sergei Moskowsky and Omega Katya Romanov. Omega’s legal name: Katya Moskowsky"
But the second...
Oh, the second contract was brutal.
"Marriage between Omega Katya Romanov and Alpha Sergei Moskowsky. Omega’s legal name: Katya Romanov Moskowsky.
"**Legal names must never be forcefully changed by any official, unless Omega willingly wants to. Omega MUST not be hurt for his name change.
"If either is attempted, fail-safes will be prompted. The city of Frolo will pay the first prize. Others will follow in three days."
Katya stared at the documents.
The first time.
The second.
And all he could manage?
"Yeah, right, what a sick joke," Katya laughed, the denial thick in his voice.
He couldn’t believe this.
Because if he did... then it meant something else altogether.
And Katya was not ready to open that Chapter.
He didn’t even know if he was ready to live and survive the current one with everything that had already happened to him.
There was no way that things would get justified with ease, because that would ruin him.
Gods, he would be doomed.
"Romanov... the naming hierarchy... by law..." Svet trailed off, and Katya knew what she meant even without her having to phrase it out.
In their society, official documents always had omegas coming second in everything, like in the first contract. Like it had originally been before whatever had happened in between.
The marriage papers had shifted.
Katya’s name was first instead of Sergei’s.
An omega before an Alpha was unheard of.
Much less a Moskowsky alpha.
That was the grand recipe for disaster.
Not even Vitya Moskowsky’s name had ever been ahead of Sergei’s in official documents. And he was the man that the barbarian loved with everything he had and didn’t have.
Hell, the man Sergei still loved even to this day.
Yet for Katya...
Maybe Katya was right.
This had to be a setup.
That change was insane because there would be legal repercussions for that.
But the notes beside it? They were unhinged, sure, yet it was almost the kind of shit Katya knew he couldn’t put past Sergei Moskowsky.
Only Sergei would threaten a whole city and file it in a legal document like it was breakfast.
And Katya’s traitorous mind drifted to the kind of things he never wanted to think of. Yet he somehow found himself remembering. Like it was the one mantra that could explain all this.
Even then, he still remained suspicious.
After all, Sergei Moskowsky was the strategist who ate business contracts for breakfast.
So, what of a marriage contract to an omega who had nothing to defend himself with?
"I will protect you..."
"... you didn’t sign your life away to me. not in the way you have been thinking these past few weeks..."
"...would you have accepted my help if I didn’t come with leverage?"
Katya couldn’t breathe.
Sergei’s words...
There was just no way.
"But you’re MY Solnyshka..."
"You’re not my property, Solnyshka..."
And as he spiraled into the kind of history he shouldn’t have thought of, given the circumstances, his friends tried to explain it even better for him.
Yet Katya’s mind was filled with denial.
Because denial was easier.
Easier than admitting that it had all been a misunderstanding on his end.
He had suffered...
Fuck.
"We checked the property papers too. They are legitimate, Romanov. In fact, the money that paid for this palace came from Romanov Steel, not Moskowsky," Svet said, and Katya stared at her, not sure what the fuck she was talking about.
