[FROLO]

The silence and peace lasted a whole of thirty minutes.

Thirty minutes of trying to pretend that things were okay, until Katya woke up to Svetlana screaming.

Her voice was so shrill that everyone was alerted.

The security personnel Katya had not even known existed in the penthouse rushed through the door, armed to the teeth and in uniforms that made them look like they were ready to make someone fly over a cliff.

And of course, when Svet saw them...

The darn woman screamed again.

"Sir, is everything alright?" Anton asked, making Katya stare at him curiously.

Hadn’t this man said that there were places he wasn’t allowed to access, mainly this far into the penthouse?

What the fuck was he doing here, and that too armed with two handguns and a combat knife?

"Svet, you’re scaring the poor guy," Andre sighed, making his friend sit on the couch, ignoring the strewn papers in the room.

"My friend is just crazy. I suppose this is an early introduction to her. All is well," Andre sighed.

Svet just stared at the sheet of paper in her hands, instead of even reacting to what Andre was saying. Anyone would think she had read about the downfall of the Moskowskys and was screaming in joy.

Katya, on the other hand, wasn’t even fazed.

In fact, he just looked at her like this was just a normal day in the household.

The fact that none of the in-house staff even came to see what was wrong was all that poor Katya needed to know that even they had gotten used to Svet being crazy and unhinged.

Besides, the only time anyone would have a good enough reason to be terrified of Svetlana Vasilieva was when she wasn’t shouting or screaming.

"You heard Andre. We are fine, or do you want to sit with us and help babysit?" Katya asked, like he wasn’t tired already of everything, and his friend being a nuisance wasn’t exactly helping the situation.

"No, sir. Thank you for confirming. In case of anything, there are emergency buttons on the couch arms, the door, the TV remote, among other sections that are listed in the house plans that are next to the TV.

"Please excuse us. And forgive us for interfering," Anton said before he ushered his team out, as if that was the first time they were seeing people that unhinged.

Then again, who could ever blame them for that? It wasn’t like Svet had exactly been reasonable in her reactions, no?

Thankfully, Svetlana waited till they had all left for her to speak again.

She was still holding the papers in her hands.

Across the room that they had entered barely hours ago were sheets of paper, copies of the contract, something that had Katya confused.

It was obvious there was a printer somewhere here because the way that his friend was checking that sheet had Katya wondering about a lot of things.

But the fact that Svet had chosen that reaction baffled Katya.

"This man is crazy," Svet insisted, making Katya look at her for real this time.

"Svet..." Katya trailed off and just seemed to reiterate what she had just said.

"You mean the whole of the Moskowsky family is crazy?" Andre sighed exaggeratedly as he stared at his copies of the first and the second contract.

They had both decided to read the first and the second separately so they could come together and figure out if they had seen the same shit or not.

And clearly, they had been shocked by a few things if this was what they looked like at the moment anyway.

"This man is insane! What the fuck?!" Svet added, and Katya ran a frustrated hand through his hair.

His friend had woken him up, and none of them was saying anything other than shouting how the man was insane.

Everyone surely knew that Sergei was crazy by now, right?

Andre, on the other hand, was suddenly still; you would think he had finally gotten the therapy he really needed and was having a hard time letting go of the fact that he didn’t have to kill people and burn them at Romanov steel anymore.

Perhaps things were not what they seemed.

Maybe it was worse than they could understand in one sitting.

Just maybe, right?

"Goodness, Svet, you will blow my head off... he has always been insane. Don’t you even see where we are? It’s a prison," Katya sighed as he rubbed his ears like that was supposed to make it vibrate at normal frequency after Svet’s screams.

This woman was unhinged; it was no wonder she was the one gutsy enough to go after Sergei Moskowsky.

"Nu-uh. You don’t understand my friend... your man is insane!" Svet screeched still, and Katya stared blankly.

Your man?

Was she talking about Yaroslav?

Oh, but Katya hated that even now his treacherous heart still beat some way at the mention or lack thereof of Yaroslav.

Of course, he had told himself he would move on like Yaroslav had moved on six months ago, even more now that the man had a family that was complete.

However, he still couldn’t deny that a part of him had dared to hope that Yaro would come home someday. That Yaro would choose their marriage before it was too late.

But six months later... Wasn’t that late enough?

Only that there was no home for him anymore.

Just hell that had been orchestrated by the Moskowskys.

"What did Yaroslav do this time?" Katya sighed exaggeratedly.

He didn’t need to think of anything other than trying to process everything at the same time. Besides, it wasn’t that far a stretch to have Yaroslav involved.

The last time Katya had been dragged by Anya to the courthouse, she had mentioned something about Yaroslav and the things that the man needed to sign.

Maybe it was the second contract.

Maybe it was to validate what they were making Kata sign back then.

After all, at the time, no one had seen Sergei for a whole week, and they were all working with the assumption that the alpha’s son would approve shit like he always did when his father was away.

"Senator Aleksandr?"
