Chapter 1533: Chapter 770: Helping Out on the Uneven Road? (Part 2)
But compared to Emily, that was far off.
There was also a woman sitting at the front desk, who was much more attractive than the two greeters at the door.
Lin Beichen walked up to the front desk, and before he could ask a question, the woman at the front desk politely asked, "Do you two have a reservation for a room?"
"No, but can I ask you a question first?" Lin Beichen said, "What is this place?"
"Is it far from Wood Stone Town?"
The front desk girl paused slightly at Lin Beichen’s question, wondering: How did you get here without knowing where this is? Did you just drop out of the sky?
But despite her many questions, her professionalism stopped her from prying into the guests’ personal matters, so she immediately answered Lin Beichen’s question, slowly saying, "This is Freedom City. It’s quite a distance to Wood Stone Town. Driving at 80 km/h, it would take about 5 to 6 hours to get there."
"Freedom City?"
Lin Beichen was curious. Why is it named that, and in what way is it free?
Is it a place where one can do whatever they please?
"So this is Freedom City!" Emily clearly had heard about this place but never had a chance to come.
Lin Beichen looked at Emily and asked, "What’s different about this place compared to others?"
Emily leaned closer to Lin Beichen, lowering her voice and whispered into his ear, "It’s a place where the law doesn’t really apply. People here do whatever they want."
"Would you like to book a room?" The front desk girl noticed that after they’d finished questioning, they didn’t talk about booking a room, instead chatting at the front desk, and couldn’t help but remind them.
"In Freedom City, our Liberty Hotel is quite well-known. As long as you stay obediently in your room at night, nothing will happen."
The front desk girl seemed to have guessed their concerns and added that to try and close the deal.
"Is that so?" Lin Beichen murmured, thinking she was trying to deceive them.
It’s like if he wanted to cause trouble or kill someone, he’d do it whether or not he was in his room. This so-called "safety guarantee" was unreliable.
But that didn’t matter. Lin Beichen felt there was no need for others to protect him. Only by being strong himself would he have true safety.
Afterward, Lin Beichen looked at Emily and asked, "Shall we stay here?"
Emily looked at the dark sky outside, nodded, and said, "Stay."
Then, she hesitated a little, leaned toward Lin Beichen, and whispered, "But I am a bit scared in Freedom City."
"Then let’s get a room with twin beds."
Emily’s words made sense to Lin Beichen, who nodded in agreement.
After all, having shared a bed the previous night, now just sleeping in the same room seemed more acceptable to both of them than sharing a single bed.
So, Lin Beichen turned to the front desk girl and said, "We’ll take a twin-bed room."
The front desk girl gave them a slightly strange look but didn’t say anything, quickly completing their check-in.
Then, led by a staff member, Lin Beichen and Emily went to their room.
The layout of this hotel’s room was somewhat similar to the hotel rooms back in Mo City.
But that was to be expected, as no matter how much you innovate in room design, it all eventually boils down to four walls and a ceiling.
As Lin Beichen stepped into the room, his eyes were immediately drawn to the computer in the corner, a familiar feeling surging in his heart, along with an indescribable awkwardness.
Meanwhile, Emily, upon entering, walked straight to the two beds, her eyes sparkling as she examined them.
The two beds were placed side by side, separated by a narrow passage, appearing quite snug.
Emily, looking at the layout, showed a satisfied smile, clearly pleased with how the beds were arranged.
Both of them felt a bit bored, but this time, without saying a word to each other, neither touched the computer.
After resting in the room for a while, Lin Beichen said, "Emily, let’s go out for dinner."
Emily nodded happily, and they both left the room, exited the hotel, and drove around the area.
Along the way, they passed a gas station, and Lin Beichen filled up the tank.
After driving for a while, Emily’s eyes suddenly lit up, and she pointed out a pizza restaurant by the roadside, excitedly saying to Lin Beichen, "How about we have pizza?"
Lin Beichen didn’t have any specific cravings, so he naturally followed Emily’s suggestion.
They parked the car and walked into the pizza restaurant.
Emily, with an air of lavishness, ordered a whole table worth of food, an array of pizzas and snacks filling up the space.
Lin Beichen looked at the table full of food, quietly thinking to himself: Having money is no excuse to splurge like this. At this rate, Emily is going to end up in shady gambling dens in no time.
Lin Beichen truly detested those kinds of places from the bottom of his heart.
So he couldn’t help but say to Emily, "Ordering so much, can you eat it all?"
Emily rolled her eyes at him and said crossly, "Hmph, if I can’t finish it, can’t you help me eat it? You have no sense of style."
Lin Beichen chuckled bitterly and replied truthfully, "I can’t eat this much either."
Emily seemed to have thought of something suddenly and said with a grin, "If we really can’t finish it, we can just pack it to go."
Lin Beichen was rendered speechless by Emily’s words, so he just focused on eating his pizza, venting the frustration in his heart.
But the pizza, as he chewed it, somehow lacked flavor.
As Lin Beichen was pondering this, he thought how great it would be if a few ignorant people showed up, offering him a chance to stretch his muscles.
As if responding to his thought, the door to the pizza restaurant suddenly burst open, and two men wearing black hoods stormed in.
These two men each held a short handgun, marching aggressively straight to the front desk of the pizzeria.
The leader of the robbers swung his gun butt down with a "bang", shattering the glass at the counter, and yelled out, "Robbery! Everyone stay put, and don’t blame us if the bullets don’t have eyes!"
The other robber was equally cooperative, immediately aiming his gun at the customers in the store.
On hearing the call for money, Emily panicked, quickly spitting out the pizza in her mouth, and whispered to Lin Beichen, "What do we do now?"
Lin Beichen hadn’t expected two arrogant fools daring to rob them.
These two robbers first turned their guns to the store manager, stripping him of both weapons and money, then commanded him to stay on the ground and not move.
Their practiced manner clearly showed this wasn’t their first time conducting such a deed.
These robbers were quite meticulous. They knew people dining out might not carry weapons, but there’d definitely be something hidden in the store.
They guessed right; Lin Beichen hadn’t brought any weapon this time around, opting for less weight and more convenience.
However, some people in the store, for safety reasons, did have weapons with them, but they were eating now, so their weapons were either in their bags or on them.
At that moment, one person, seeing that the robbers were busy collecting money, seemed to have gone unnoticed and quietly reached into their bag, attempting to pull out a handgun for a surprise attack.
But his subtle move did not escape the robber’s eyes, who was looking down at everyone from above.
The robber’s eyes sharpened, and he instantly aimed his gun at the man, icily saying, "You must have a death wish."
The man, not expecting to be exposed so quickly, hurriedly gripped his bag, intending to draw his gun and resist.
Yet the robber was evidently an expert, with marksmanship both precise and ruthless.
With a "bang," the robber’s shot directly blew the man’s brains out, killing him instantly.
Some timid customers in the store screamed in fright.
"Ah, someone’s dead!"
"Bang," this robber, clearly a hardcore character, immediately fired another shot, killing the loudest screamer with another headshot, then shouted viciously, "Anyone else makes a sound, and you’re next!"
