Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off
Chapter 871: Father and Son Finally Meet (01)
Chapter 871: Chapter 871: Father and Son Finally Meet (01)
Yue Yue immediately left the small house and hurried toward the next house in the courtyard. It was their house...the biggest one in the entire courtyard.
She had only slithered a short distance when she suddenly spotted her father and mother outside.
Xuan Long was sitting on the ground with his back resting against a thick tree. His long legs were stretched comfortably in front of him, and his eyes were closed as he enjoyed the warm sunlight.
Su Qinglan was lying comfortably on top of him. Her head rested against his chest while one of his arms was wrapped around her waist. Both of them had their eyes closed, looking so comfortable that they almost seemed to be sleeping.
Yue Yue stopped, her tiny head tilting to one side. Were they sleeping?
She stared at them for a few seconds. Then she remembered her grandfather. Grandfather was more important!
Yue Yue immediately hurried toward them.
"Father Beast!" Her tiny voice rang through the courtyard. "Grandfather is awake!"
Xuan Long’s eyes snapped open. "What?" He immediately lifted his head and stared at Yue Yue.
Su Qinglan also opened her eyes. She quickly sat up and looked toward the little white snake who was crawling toward them. "Yue Yue?"
Then she noticed Xuan Long’s expression. His entire body had stiffened. The arm around her waist had tightened considerably.
Su Qinglan looked at him in surprise. "What happened?"
Xuan Long’s lips moved, but for a moment, no sound came out. His eyes were trembling.
"My father..." His voice was extremely low. "Father... he is awake."
Su Qinglan froze. Her eyes widened. "Your father is awake?"
Xuan Long nodded slowly. "My father is awake."
For a moment, Su Qinglan could not believe it either. Then she immediately turned toward Yue Yue. "Is your grandfather really awake?"
Yue Yue nodded her tiny head repeatedly. "Yes!" Her little tail wagged happily. "Grandfather opened his eyes!"
Su Qinglan’s eyes immediately lit up. "Then let’s go and see him!" She quickly picked Yue Yue up and stood.
Xuan Long was still sitting under the tree.
Su Qinglan took a few steps before turning around. "Xuan Long?" He did not move.
She frowned. "Come."
Su Qinglan walked back and grabbed his arm. "Let’s go. Your father is awake. Aren’t you excited?"
She pulled. Nothing happened. Xuan Long remained completely still, like a huge stone statue.
Su Qinglan blinked. She pulled harder. "Xuan Long!"
Xuan Long finally moved his eyes toward her. His throat moved as he swallowed. "Lanlan..."
"What?"
"My father is awake."
"I know."
"But..." He lowered his eyes and looked at his palm. It was covered in sweat. Even his fingers were trembling slightly. "I don’t know how to meet him."
Su Qinglan’s expression softened.
Xuan Long licked his dry lips. "For so many years, I kept thinking about finding him. I searched everywhere. I thought about what I would say when I finally found him. " He gave a nervous laugh. "But now that he is actually here..." His voice became quieter. "I suddenly don’t know what to do."
Su Qinglan looked at him silently.
Xuan Long’s deepest instinct was telling him to run. Run far away. Run so far that he would never have to face this moment.
He had imagined this reunion countless times, but none of those dreams had prepared him for the real thing. His father was alive. His father was awake. And he was only a few steps away. Yet Xuan Long could not even force himself to stand.
"Lanlan," he said nervously, avoiding her gaze, "you go first."
Su Qinglan stared at him.
"I’ll come later."
"Later?"
"Yes." Xuan Long nodded seriously. "I just need a little time."
Su Qinglan’s eyes narrowed. "You are afraid."
Xuan Long immediately denied it. "I’m not afraid."
"You are."
Su Qinglan sighed. "Fine."
Xuan Long relaxed slightly. "Then I will go see him first."
"Thank you, Lanlan."
Su Qinglan smiled. She turned around, and Xuan Long finally relaxed completely. But before he could even stand up, Su Qinglan suddenly grabbed his arm.
"Come with me."
Xuan Long’s eyes widened. "Lanlan!"
She dragged him forward. "Let’s go."
She ignored him completely and dragged him all the way toward the small house.
Inside, Teng Yunxiao had already sensed their approach.
After Yue Yue left, he had immediately tried to circulate the spiritual energy inside his body. His brows furrowed. It was extremely weak...far weaker than it should have been. But at least... it was still working.
He slowly gathered a trace of spiritual power and used it to support his body. After struggling for a while, he finally managed to sit upright.
His body still felt strange. His limbs were weak, his muscles felt stiff, and even sitting up required effort. But at least he could move now.
Then he heard voices outside. One belonged to the little snake. The other two were a man and a woman. Their voices were somewhat muffled.
Teng Yunxiao narrowed his eyes. The man seemed to be saying something nervously, while the woman seemed to be arguing with him.
Are they fighting?
Teng Yunxiao became slightly alert, straightening his back. Then the door suddenly opened. The first thing that appeared was a tiny white head...the same little snake from before.
Teng Yunxiao stared at her. Now that he could see her more clearly, he suddenly realized something. This wasn’t even a grown snake. It was a cub! A tiny snake cub! He had actually mistaken her for a young female earlier.
Teng Yunxiao touched his forehead. What was wrong with him? Had he really become this muddle-headed? He had never been like this before.
Then another head slowly appeared behind Yue Yue.
Teng Yunxiao’s gaze shifted as a beautiful young woman cautiously poked her head inside. She looked at him with a gentle smile. "Elder, are you all right?"
Teng Yunxiao froze.
Elder?
He slowly touched his own face. Elder?!
The female was young, and she was calling him elder?
Teng Yunxiao became deeply suspicious. He had lived for a long time, but the Teng Clan had an extremely long lifespan. Even by his own calculation, he was still considered young among his people. He had not even mated yet! How had he suddenly become an elder?
First, the little cub called him grandfather, and now this young female was calling him elder. Teng Yunxiao suddenly had a strong urge to find a river and look at his reflection. Had he slept for so long that he had somehow turned into an old man?
Meanwhile, Su Qinglan was staring at him. The more she looked, the more amazed she became. He really did look almost exactly like Xuan Long. If not for the slight difference in height, she might have genuinely mistaken father and son.
Teng Yunxiao was even taller than Xuan Long. His body was extremely lean now, almost frighteningly thin after everything he had endured inside the mountain. His once powerful physique had been reduced to something almost skeletal, making his tall body look slightly hunched.
Yet none of that could hide his face. He was still incredibly handsome.
Su Qinglan silently clicked her tongue. As expected of the Teng Clan. Every generation produces handsome men.
She couldn’t help thinking about her own little Xiao San. When he grew up, would he look like his father? Or perhaps like his grandfather? Her handsome little baby...
A mischievous smile appeared on Su Qinglan’s lips.
