Chapter 870: Chapter 870: The Confused Grandfather and the Little White Snake

Inside the quiet room, little Yue Yue was happily playing with her own tail.

She was sitting snugly inside a small woven basket, keeping a very close eye on her grandfather, who had been sleeping on the wooden bed for a very long time.

Yue Yue liked staying in this room. While her father and brothers were out playing in the muddy yards or hunting, Yue Yue preferred to stay inside all by herself, keeping her sleeping grandfather company. It was much better than getting dirty outside.

Suddenly, a tiny rustling noise broke the silence.

Yue Yue immediately popped her little head out from the basket, her blue gemstone eyes widening in shock.

On the wooden bed, her grandfather was slowly stirring! His long eyelashes were fluttering gently.

Yue Yue’s heart skipped a beat with pure joy. Is Grandfather finally waking up?!

With an overjoyed expression, she scrambled out of the basket and slithered down to the floor beside the bed. Wanting to make sure she was the very first thing he saw when his eyes opened, she quickly climbed up onto the small table right next to the bed.

She chewed happily on the tip of her tail, thinking to herself: When Grandfather opens his eyes and sees me first, I will definitely become his absolute favorite!

Meanwhile, Tang Yunxiao felt a dull, heavy headache pulsing in his mind. His entire body felt extremely stiff, like a frozen stone. Struggling with all his strength, he barely managed to move his fingers.

His consciousness had returned after being asleep for who knows how long, but his body was simply refusing to cooperate with his mind. It felt as if he had completely lost control of himself.

Finally, after a long struggle, he regained a fraction of control. The very first thing he tried to do was open his eyes...but he immediately shut them close again!

The bright, harsh sunlight streaming through the window glared painfully against his sensitive face.

Sitting on the table, little Yue Yue instantly noticed her grandfather’s struggle with the harsh sunlight.

She looked over at the window. How could she cover it?

Her eyes landed on a long, heavy bamboo mat that was rolled up beside the window. Her mother usually used it to block out the cold wind.

Yue Yue immediately slithered over. Huffing and puffing with her tiny body, she struggled with all her might to push and unfold the heavy roll.

Push! Push!

Finally, with a small plop, the mat rolled across the window, blocking out the glare. Only a tiny gap was left open at the top because it was slightly tilted, but the harsh sun was completely gone.

Feeling the glaring light disappear, Tang Yunxiao dared to peek open his eyes once more.

What met his vision was a thatched, wooden roof.

A thatched roof? Tang Yunxiao thought in utter confusion. How did the houses in the Upper Domain become like this? I have never seen such a primitive house before.

He slowly tried to move his limbs, but his body still wasn’t listening to him. He could only stare up at the ceiling and catch glimpses of the stone and wooden walls around him. It looked just like a humble village house.

Suddenly, he felt a faint movement beside him.

From the corner of his eye, a tiny, pure-white snake head popped directly into his vision. Two sparkling, clear gemstone-blue eyes stared down at him with immense curiosity.

The tiny white snake slithered closer onto the edge of the bed and let out a soft, cheerful hiss.

Tang Yunxiao’s mind froze. Looking at those familiar eyes and that little white body, a name immediately surfaced in his heart: Rourou?

He tried to say her name out loud, but his mouth hardly moved, and not a single sound came out.

However, seeing her grandfather looking directly at her made Yue Yue erupt with pure joy!

She immediately cheered in her snake language: "Grandfather! You are awake!"

Tang Yunxiao was completely stunned.

Why is my Rourou calling me grandfather?! What happened to her? Where are we? And... who beat me up so badly that I can’t even feel my own body?!

Questions rushed through his confused mind.

Seeing that her grandfather wasn’t replying to her, little Yue Yue wasn’t satisfied at all. She immediately slithered onto his broad chest, sitting right on top of him and staring down into his face with her clear, sparkling gaze.

"Grandfather?" she hissed softly again.

Although Yue Yue was only making hissing sounds, Tang Yunxiao, surprisingly, understood every single word she said.

Then, overwhelmed by the sheer absurdity of the situation and his own heavy fatigue, Tang Yunxiao rolled his eyes back and simply drifted back to sleep. He assumed Rourou was just playing another one of her silly tricks on him.

Yue Yue froze in place on his chest.

Did... did she just scare her silly grandfather back into an unconscious sleep?!

Panic instantly filled her little mind. She was nervous as heck now!

Should I go call Father Beast?! she thought anxiously. Her blue eyes lit up. Yes! Father should be back from his hunt by now!

She quickly scrambled down from the bed and slithered out of the room as fast as her little body could go to find help.

The moment the little white snake disappeared through the doorway, Tang Yunxiao opened his eyes once again.

His gaze was completely clear now. Something was definitely off.

She looks almost identical to Rourou... but she is not Rourou. Tang Yunxiao thought deeply.

When he sensed her aura more carefully just now, he realized the subtle differences between them. Even though their physical appearance was almost identical, this little snake was definitely not his Rourou.

But why was this little snake calling me grandfather?

Tang Yunxiao couldn’t help but feel utterly baffled. I haven’t even mated yet! How could I possibly become a grandfather?!

Yet, as he thought about Rourou, a soft, gentle smile slowly tugged at the corner of his lips despite his confusion.
