Chapter 1126: Sword Of Zipple [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]

Minutes passed, gold coins number sang everywhere, platinum coins’ numbers echoing through the air.

’It seems I was simply too naive to think that I would gain something yet again here,’ Asher thought to himself as he leaned into his seat with a defeated sigh.

[It seems the Host thinks he is the protagonist of some novel.]

The system chimed at his thoughts.

’Maybe I am,’ Asher replied as he simply waited for the auction to end so he could leave since he had nothing to do.

[Unfortunately for the Host, he isn’t. Main characters usually have absurd luck, such that they could visit a particular auction house five times and walk away with five cheat items.]

The system joked.

Asher rolled his eyes at the system’s words and chose not to engage with it anymore.

"And now, for the last item of the day," the Auction House Manager spoke as the last item was brought out.

Asher gazed ahead, a bit curious. After all, the Star Core Fragment was also the last item of the day.

"This is the Sword of Zipple," the Auction House Manager began to speak. "Its effects are simple. The sword can break down into shards which can be manipulated individually. It can create portals to anywhere within a hundred-kilometer radius without costing the user Astra energy, and finally, the wounds inflicted by it are unhealable." The man slowed for a moment, then stated in finality, "The starting price is two hundred platinum coins."

"One thousand platinum coins," a voice came from one of the rooms beside Asher.

"Three thousand platinum coins," another followed.

"Four thousand one hundred platinum coins," a third.

"Six thousand platinum coins," a fourth.

"Ten thousand platinum coins," a fifth voice came instantly, skyrocketing the price.

Asher remained unimpressed. Although the second and third effects of the sword seemed amazing, they weren’t really. For the sword to cause an unhealable injury, it had to injure someone, and that sword couldn’t injure him even if he just stood there, as it was useless against those with the durability of Voidstar Life Rankers.

And as for the hundred-kilometer-radius portal, it was even more useless, as the strong could cover that distance in less than a split second. Meaning, the sword was only powerful to those who were simply at that level.

’At least the auction is almost ending,’ he thought to himself as he closed his eyes in boredom.

As he closed his eyes, a fun idea came to his mind.

Since these five were fighting over it, surely, the winner of the sword would be ambushed, right? Meaning all he had to do was win it, then allow these people to ambush him.

"One hundred thousand platinum coins," he placed a bid.

The moment the number echoed, everyone paused, their eyes snapping towards the room Asher was in. They had all thought that no one was there and that it was just an empty room. And now, the voice was suddenly bidding one hundred thousand platinum coins. That was an outrageous number.

"Sold." The Auction House Manager didn’t take any more bids, immediately closing the auction as he was sure nobody would bid more. He had already thought they would only squeeze about sixty thousand platinum coins from this, so forty thousand more was immense profit.

The auction ended immediately. The sword was brought to Asher, who simply paid in cash. He rose and walked out. He sent a message through a Photon Clone to Kent and told the man to head back to the Wargrave Estate without the carriage. Kent simply did as instructed, not daring to question the Tenth Sun.

The Photon Clone assumed Kent’s identity, as Mr. Real Body exited the auction house and entered the carriage. They didn’t head towards the Wargrave Estate, but towards another direction where the forest expanded. They stayed on the path as the horse rolled forward.

Within the forest, as Asher’s carriage moved, something tore through the air like a missile and collapsed upon the carriage, and with a thunderous storm of explosion, the carriage and the trees within a hundred-meter radius were erased, the earth becoming scorched.

From the smoke, Asher’s figure shot into the air as he had already canceled the Photon Clone. His body twisted through the air as he landed on a branch of a tree over a hundred meters away.

As he landed, he was immediately surrounded by five different people, each of them dressed in all-black attire, their faces masked. Clearly, this wasn’t the first time any of the five had ambushed an auction winner.

But nobody cared. Why buy a treasure you couldn’t protect? You were to blame.

"Hand over the Sword of Zipple and we will spare you," one of them spoke. It was one of the two women amongst the five.

Asher smirked as he spoke, "What if I don’t want you to spare me?"

Hearing Asher’s words, the five of them were stunned. This was the first time they were hearing something like this. Sure, everyone who possessed treasures always resisted, but none of them had ever said anything remotely as absurd as this.

And the funny part was that what they said was indeed true. They intended to spare him, then fight over the sword between the five of them after snatching it.

Seeing that Asher was uncooperative, the first made a move, his knees dipping forward as he shot forward like a bolt of lightning, arriving before Asher. Golden lightning crackled across his fist as a gauntlet appeared around his arms and up to his elbow. Without a shred of hesitation, he punched.

Staring at the incoming attack, Asher didn’t even block. With a boom, the attack connected, a blast of golden lightning dancing and crackling as smoke and dust rose upwards, yet the tree didn’t shatter.

The first man who had just attacked frowned as he saw Asher standing without moving, having taken his attack head-on. Without wasting another second, he vanished from where he stood as his golden lightning boosted his speed, not daring to stay too close.

Asher couldn’t help but break into a smile. It had been eight months since he had experienced some real action. Although the man had attacked to kill, it was simply not enough to even bruise him, let alone make him bleed seriously.

Although those puppets were stronger, at the end of the day, they weren’t actually living beings.

The five looked at each other, then instantly moved together. The second took out a whip and flung it forward, the third took out an arrow and shot it, the fourth threw a handful of senbons, and the fifth simply clapped her hands, her ability activating as black smoke puffed outwards. She seemed to control the ability to generate and manipulate smoke.

Seeing the incoming attacks, Asher smiled, then moved. The smoke did nothing to stop him. He had seen, tracked, and predicted all three attacks before the smoke even came into play.

His hand shot out as he caught the whip, then turned around, swung the woman, and threw her towards the Lightning Gauntlet guy who was at a distance. The man instantly braced himself and caught the woman. The moment he did, he was thrown backwards, his face twisting into a frown beneath the force of the throw.

Asher spun on his feet as he caught the arrow and threw it back to the man who shot it, the arrow piercing his shoulder as he couldn’t see due to the smoke.

Asher didn’t slow. His left hand blurred as he caught all the senbons and threw them towards the man who sent them and at the woman with the smoke ability. His aim landed with precise machine accuracy.

Everyone instantly frowned as pain coursed through their bodies. On the first exchange, they had already been injured.

The next moment, the five of them spun on their feet and fled in different directions, not daring to remain. They might have confidently come to ambush and steal the sword, but it didn’t mean they couldn’t see the difference in power between their opponent and them.

Asher was stunned when he saw his opponents turn and run away after one attack. He hadn’t foreseen this.

’What happened to being arrogant and domineering on a battlefield? What happened to five against one and all that?’ he thought to himself as he stood within the silence of the forest.

He sighed as he shook his head, understanding that he should have held back, but had forgotten due to his excitement.

With a thought, he vanished, as he knew there was nothing to do here. His aim was never to kill them, but simply to have a little fun and let them live.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I haven’t updated for the past two days because I had an issue with my Webnovel salary, so I had to shuffle between Webnovel and the bank. I’ve also started working Sundays now. So, forgive me for the lack of updates, as I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to type with my salary not hitting my bank account.

And finally, regarding the Golden Tickets ranking, we are currently ranked 11th, but officially, we are ranked 12th, as I explained earlier.

We are dangerously low on the Golden Tickets ranking, so we need your support.

Also, the updates are back, since the salary issue should be resolved by Monday. Thank you for your patience.

Also, what Frontier do y’all think Asher should head to?
