Chapter 1125: Back At The Orchid [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]

As he reminisced a bit, a thought struck him: he should revisit The Orchid Auction House. Maybe he would strike it rich yet again. A second Star Core Fragment, perhaps? An immortal Cultivator Grandpa in a ring?

Asher stepped out of his room. As he walked, he found a maid and sent her to fetch Kent, who was now his go-to coachman. After all, the man had taken him to the Capital during the Inter-Empire Tournament and to The Orchid Auction House for the first time.

Within minutes, the carriage was ready, and Kent was already waiting for Asher outside. Stepping out of the building, Asher approached Kent. The man stood in silence as he stared at Asher. It had been over a year since he had last seen the Tenth Sun. Although, at the time, he had felt the Tenth Sun was kind and a chill guy, he wasn’t sure about now.

Now that the Tenth Sun had seen the world and wasn’t just locked up at the Wargrave Estate, he wondered if the Tenth Sun was still the same man.

As Asher approached, he bowed as he spoke, "I greet the Tenth Sun," his tone as respectful as ever.

Asher gave a smile as he spoke, "Kent, it’s been a while. I hope you’ve been doing fine all this while," he asked.

Kent rose from his bow. He saw the same smile, the same warmth in the eyes, and the same calmness. He couldn’t help but heave an internal sigh of relief as he spoke.

"I’ve been well, Young Master. It seems like yesterday when I drove you around in a carriage. Now you are a global name. It is an honor to be your coachman yet again," he stated, leaning in on the small familiarity he had built with Asher in the past.

Asher’s smile increased as he replied, "I’m already familiar with you, so why would I need another person to be my coachman?" He shook his head.

Kent gave a smile as he proceeded to ask, "Tenth Sun, where are we going this time?" he asked.

"The Orchid Auction House. I’m sure you remember it, right?" Asher asked, as he was sure that coachmen never forgot anywhere they had ever been to.

It wasn’t that they possessed perfect memory or anything of the sort; years on the job simply made them built that way.

"Of course, Tenth Sun," Kent replied with a nod.

"Then we leave immediately," Asher stated as he turned his attention from Kent and climbed into the carriage.

Kent was a bit surprised. He looked around but found no Knight or Guard following the Tenth Sun. He wanted to say something but held his tongue. He was sure that if the Tenth Sun wanted security, he would have ordered it.

Besides, this was the Wargrave Territory. Nothing was going to happen anyway.

And indeed, he was right. If Asher wanted security, he would order it. Unlike back then, when he needed it, he wasn’t weak. He could handle himself if anything came up.

Kent simply took his seat, and the carriage rolled forward. In just over an hour, they were already at The Orchid Auction House. Kent came to a stop, then came down and opened the door. The moment he did, Asher stepped out in calm strides. Kent frowned. He wondered why the Tenth Sun’s face was suddenly different.

But it didn’t take long for him to instantly understand that the Tenth Sun was probably avoiding attention since he was already too famous. So he immediately cautioned himself not to call him Tenth Sun, but just Young Master.

So, without Asher explaining anything, the man perfectly understood.

Asher turned towards Kent, then gave the man a pouch containing one thousand platinum coins and spoke.

"After parking the carriage, no need to wait outside like last time. You can enter, bid on items you want or need, although I’m guessing you wouldn’t need anything here since they only auction things that Awakeners need," he stated, then, without a word, he walked forward.

Kent was stunned. He was fucking speechless. He stared at the platinum coins within the pouch, his eyes dancing as he made a rough guess of over five hundred platinum coins. Although he was paid handsomely every month, he knew that even if he worked all his life, he wouldn’t even earn ten platinum coins.

Yet, the Tenth Sun had given out such amount of money.

He immediately stuffed the pouch into his shirt, hiding it away in fear that someone would rob him. While the Wargrave Territory was free from Monster Tides and all that, it didn’t mean thugs and citizens didn’t cause problems. It was simply the way of life.

Kent didn’t dare step into the auction house. The money that Asher had just given him made him annihilate any thoughts of going there. What if he went there and an Awakened targeted him later on, robbing him through some ability or skill he didn’t know?

’Staying in the carriage and waiting for the Tenth Sun is the wisest choice, and I won’t mingle with other coachmen either,’ he thought to himself, afraid that mingling with them might make them notice the bulge in his chest, and then they would rob him.

If Asher knew of Kent’s thoughts, he would burst out laughing. Because of one thousand platinum coins, the man had turned into the most cautious version of himself.

Although it might look like Asher always gave out money way too much, he indeed loved doing that. Even back on Earth, he simply loved giving money out. Since he had enough, there was nothing stopping him from being a little bit kind.

Asher reached the line, walked past them, and presented the VVIP card the manager had given him the last time, although he had paid three platinum coins for it to avoid any hidden favors and strings.

Although he was hiding his identity, it didn’t mean he couldn’t use the card, as each card wasn’t exactly unique to anybody in particular. If your card was stolen, that was your problem; that was all.

Arriving at the front, Asher simply presented his card to the guard, who just nodded and allowed him to pass. The moment he entered, he was led by one of the staff to the VVIP area. Asher was already familiar with the area, so he simply sat and waited for everyone to enter and the auction to start.

Asher’s Star Sense swept the room for any hidden things, like spying equipment and such. Although he saw none, he still didn’t remove his disguise.

’So Kent didn’t come,’ he thought to himself as he looked below, where the regular and poor people sat.

Asher shook his head, unbothered whether Kent came or not. He had given the money out, not exactly expecting Kent to spend it here, unless the man had a child who had awakened, which Asher was sure the man didn’t.

A couple more minutes passed before the auction started. As usual, the auction started with things that those on the ground floor were bidding for. As for those on the upper floor like Asher, they simply waited.

’It seems like the economy has returned to normal during the past eight months,’ Asher mused to himself.

After all, due to the head of the Elox Family, the economy of the world had collapsed. The man was simply that rich.
