Chapter 357: Chapter 218: Lu Fan Kisses Yixia for the First Time in 18 Years, Success
She glanced up at the floor above.
On the rooftop, Lu Fan was probably still waiting.
She recalled what her daughter, Jiang Silu, had said: "Mom, I think Dad’s really changed. He’s been so nice to me, and to my brother, too."
’Has he really changed?’
She didn’t know.
But she did know that he was now willing to spend time with Silu, to secretly help Sifan, to be good to her parents, and to stand up for her when people looked down on her.
’That’s enough.’
As for everything else...
She took a deep breath, opened the refrigerator, and pulled out two cans of beer. After closing the door, she headed upstairs.
On the rooftop, Lu Fan was looking up at the moon.
Hearing footsteps, he turned his head. Seeing Jiang Yixia approach with two cans of beer, he smiled. "Find them?"
Jiang Yixia handed him one can and sat down beside him. She opened her own and took a sip.
It was cold and slightly bitter.
But a sweet aftertaste followed, slowly spreading across her tongue.
Lu Fan opened his can as well, took a drink, and remarked with a sigh, "Still the same taste."
Jiang Yixia asked curiously, "What taste?"
"The taste of home," Lu Fan answered after a moment of thought.
Jiang Yixia didn’t reply, simply taking another sip.
The two of them just sat there, drinking their beer and watching the moon.
The night breeze blew gently. In the distance, a dog barked occasionally, and frogs croaked in the rice paddies.
After a few more sips, Lu Fan spoke. "Don’t take what your aunt said today to heart."
Jiang Yixia froze for a moment, surprised he would bring that up.
Lu Fan continued in a serious tone, "Your parents are good people. They don’t owe anyone anything. Those who look down on others are just ignorant themselves. So what if they own a couple of restaurants? So what if they make a few hundred thousand a year? That little bit of wealth isn’t even what I make in a single day."
As Jiang Yixia listened, a warmth suddenly spread through her heart.
"I know," she replied.
"From now on, I’m here. No one will dare look down on your family again. Anyone who looks down on your parents is looking down on me," Lu Fan added.
Jiang Yixia turned her head to look at him.
In the moonlight, his profile was serious. He didn’t look like he was joking.
His eyes were bright, as if the moonlight had pooled within them.
After a moment of hesitation, Jiang Yixia finally said, "Thank you, for today."
"What for? We’re all family," Lu Fan said with a smile.
Jiang Yixia didn’t respond to that. Instead, she continued, "Even though my mom acted like she didn’t want that big gold bracelet, I could tell she was really happy today. It’s not often she gets a chance to show off in front of so many relatives."
Her heart was suddenly in turmoil. She lowered her head and took another gulp of beer.
The beer wasn’t strong, but she was drinking it quickly. Her face gradually grew flushed, and her ears felt hot.
The alcohol made her body feel warm, and her heart began to beat a little faster.
Watching her, Lu Fan asked softly, "Drunk?"
Jiang Yixia shook her head. "No."
But her voice was already a bit floaty and soft, like a cloud scattered by the wind.
Lu Fan chuckled and scooted closer, sitting right beside her.
They were very close, close enough to feel each other’s body heat.
His arm brushed against hers, and through the thin fabric of her pajamas, he could feel the warmth of her skin.
Jiang Yixia’s body tensed, and she wanted to pull away, but Lu Fan didn’t let her move.
"Yixia," he called out softly.
Jiang Yixia didn’t answer, but she didn’t pull away either.
Just then, Lu Fan suggested, "Do you want to lean on me for a bit?"
Jiang Yixia was taken aback. Shaking her head, she replied, "I don’t need to..."
"There’s no one else here. Besides, it’s not like you haven’t done it before. Have you forgotten? When we used to watch the moon, you always leaned on my shoulder until you fell asleep. Leaning on me tonight is just for tonight. It doesn’t mean anything for tomorrow," Lu Fan said persuasively, not forcing the issue.
Hearing this, something in Jiang Yixia’s heart softened.
She hesitated for a few seconds before finally resting her head gently on his shoulder.
His shoulder was broad and warm, carrying the faint scent of tobacco and the fresh smell of laundry detergent.
Through his clothes, she could feel his firm muscles.
At that moment, Lu Fan could feel her hair brushing against his neck, tickling him, carrying the scent of her shampoo.
Her soft body leaned against him, and through her thin pajamas, he could feel her warmth.
He slowly raised his arm and gently wrapped it around her shoulders.
Jiang Yixia’s body tensed again, but she didn’t pull away.
The moon hung in the sky, cool and clear.
The night breeze blew gently, sweeping strands of her hair against his neck, ticklish and tantalizing.
Lu Fan didn’t move, just letting her lean on him as the corners of his mouth slowly curved into a smile.
He could feel her breathing gradually even out as her body temperature slowly rose.
Her head grew heavier, and her entire body sagged against him, soft and limp.
He glanced down at her.
Her lips were slightly pursed, tinged with a rosy hue from the alcohol. They looked dewy and moist, like ripe cherries.
Lu Fan’s throat bobbed.
The two of them sat like that, neither saying a word.
The empty beer cans, blown by the wind, rolled gently, making a soft, clinking sound.
After a long while, Jiang Yixia’s breathing became steady and even. It seemed she had fallen asleep.
Lu Fan called out softly, "Yixia."
No response.
Her body was completely relaxed, leaning limply against him, her breathing even.
Her chest rose and fell gently with each breath, its soft, full curve partially visible in the moonlight.
Lu Fan gently stood up and lifted her into his arms.
One arm wrapped around her back, the other cradling the back of her knees.
She was lighter than he’d expected.
Her body was soft and warm in his arms, like a quiet cat.
Her head rested on his chest, her warm, alcohol-tinged breath ghosting across his neck.
Her light pink pajamas were made of silk, smooth and clinging to her body, outlining her curves.
Her waist was slender, just a handful. His hand rested there perfectly, feeling the soft flesh at her side.
Her chest rose and fell gently against his, soft and warm.
Her calves were exposed, draped over his arm, their skin smooth and sleek.
The skin at the crook of her knee was as delicate as tofu. His fingers sank into the flesh, so soft it made his heart tremble.
Lu Fan carried her downstairs and walked to her bedroom door.
The door was ajar. He nudged it open with his foot and went inside.
He gently laid her on the bed. Her black hair fanned out across the pillow.
Just then, her eyelashes fluttered, as if she were about to wake, but she didn’t.
She mumbled something softly, her words indistinct.
The hem of her pajama top had ridden up, revealing a sliver of her fair, slender, and soft waist.
Lu Fan stood by the bed and bent down, intending to cover her with the blanket.
As his hand touched the corner of the blanket, his gaze fell upon her face.
Her lips were slightly parted, her breathing shallow and warm with the scent of alcohol.
Those lips, pink and tender, looked dewy in the moonlight—so inviting he wanted to take a bite.
Lu Fan straightened up, gently pulled the blanket up, and covered her.
From her shoulders to her waist, and from her waist to her legs, he tucked her in securely.
She stirred, mumbling again as if responding to him in a dream.
Even though Jiang Yixia was covered by the blanket, her figure was still clearly outlined.
Watching the sleeping Jiang Yixia, Lu Fan suddenly thought of something. He chuckled, then looked at her sleeping face, leaned down, and gave her a kiss.
