Chapter 334: Chapter 210: Lu Fan’s Swift Progress on 3 Fronts! Jiang Sifan Begins to Forgive?

Old Luo added, "The Boss and his wife were deeply in love back then. Every time the Boss came back from his stall, he would bring her a gift."

Jiang Sifan was silent for a moment before saying, "But they still separated in the end."

Old Luo nodded, his tone frank. "Yes, the Boss was indeed at fault back then. He failed to stick to his principles and boundaries."

Jiang Sifan froze, turning to look at Old Luo.

’He never expected Old Luo to admit Lu Fan’s mistake so directly.’

’He’d thought these employees would blindly defend their master’s image.’

Seeing his expression, Old Luo smiled and said, "Young Master, I’ve been with the Boss for over a decade. I know what kind of person he is. He did indeed make a mistake, and he has paid the price for it. But more importantly, I know he has spent all these years regretting it and trying to make amends."

He paused, then added, "The Boss has never tried to hide his mistakes. He says, ’A mistake is a mistake. You have to admit it before you can fix it.’"

Jiang Sifan fell silent.

He turned his head and looked at the photograph again.

In the photo, Lu Fan and Jiang Yixia were smiling, looking so happy and blissful.

’They must have been so in love back then.’

’What a pity...’

After they finished touring the collection room, it was already getting late.

Jiang Sifan glanced out the window. The sun was beginning to set.

He said to Old Luo, "Steward Luo, it’s getting late. We should head back."

Old Luo was taken aback for a second, then quickly said, "Young Master, why don’t you stay for dinner before you go? The kitchen is all prepared, and the Cantonese chef happens to be here today."

"No, really, we’re fine. Maybe next time," Jiang Sifan said, shaking his head insistently.

Old Luo wanted to persuade him further, but seeing Jiang Sifan’s determined expression, he gave up.

He escorted the two out the door, walking them all the way to the main gate.

"Young Master, please be careful on your way back," Old Luo advised. "Come back and visit often."

Jiang Sifan nodded and got into the car.

The car slowly pulled away from the manor, heading back the way they had come.

On the way back, Jiang Sifan didn’t say a word, simply watching the scenery fly by outside the window.

Wen Wan, sitting beside him, stole several glances at him.

She noticed his expression was complex, as if he had a lot on his mind.

After a long while, Wen Wan finally spoke up cautiously, "Class President..."

Jiang Sifan turned his head to look at her. "Hm?"

Wen Wan asked softly, "What... are you thinking about?"

"I was thinking that it probably hasn’t been easy for him all these years, either," Jiang Sifan said after a few seconds of silence.

Wen Wan was taken aback.

Jiang Sifan continued, "You know, ever since I was little, I’ve hated him. I hated him for abandoning us, hated him for making my mother suffer all alone. I always thought he was a bastard, an irresponsible person."

"But today, after seeing those photos, that basketball court, that room... I suddenly realize he might not be the person I imagined," he said, his tone softening slightly as he paused.

Wen Wan listened quietly.

"Actually, when I found out he had been secretly helping me, a lot of my hatred for him faded. It’s just... I never knew how to face him."

He gave a helpless, bitter smile. "And now that I know everything he’s done for me, I have even less of an idea of how to face him."

Wen Wan looked at him and asked softly, "So, what do you plan to do?"

Jiang Sifan thought for a moment and said, "I plan to go home during winter break and discuss it with my mom. After all, this concerns her too."

"Mhm, that’s a good idea. Your mother’s opinion is very important," Wen Wan said, nodding seriously.

Looking at her, Jiang Sifan suddenly felt a warmth spread through his heart.

He asked Wen Wan, "Do you think I’m doing the right thing?"

Wen Wan smiled and said gently, "Whatever you decide, I’ll support it. I trust you’ll make the right choice."

Jiang Sifan froze for a second. As he looked at her, a surge of emotion he couldn’t quite name washed over him.

He reached out, gently squeezed her hand, and said gratefully, "Thank you, Wen Wan."

Wen Wan’s face immediately turned red, but she didn’t pull her hand away.

...

By the time they got back to the school, the sky had already grown dark.

After dropping Wen Wan off, Jiang Sifan headed toward his dorm.

Just as he walked into his dorm room, his phone rang.

It was a call from Jiang Silu.

"Bro, did you go to the manor?" Jiang Silu’s voice was filled with excitement.

Jiang Sifan answered, "Yeah, I went."

"How was it? How was it? Did you see that room? Wasn’t it gorgeous?" Jiang Silu asked hurriedly.

Jiang Sifan thought for a moment before admitting, "Yeah, it was pretty nice."

"What else? What else? Did you see the basketball court? And the swimming pool?" Jiang Silu pressed.

Jiang Sifan sounded a bit weary. "I saw all of it."

"Wasn’t it stunning? The first time I went, I was completely speechless," Jiang Silu said with a sigh.

Jiang Sifan was silent for a few seconds, then said, "Silu, I had no idea... he was this rich."

"Bro, did you know? Dad has actually been helping us in secret."

Jiang Sifan was taken aback.

"He helped us find research materials, contact teachers, solve our problems... He’s been silently supporting us all this time."

She paused, her voice tinged with emotion. "It’s actually... really nice."

Listening to his sister’s words, Jiang Sifan suddenly felt a mix of complicated emotions.

He thought about everything he had seen that day, the things Old Luo had said, and that photo of his mother in her youth.

He said softly, "Yeah... it is nice."

After hanging up, Jiang Sifan stood by the window, gazing out at the night.

His feelings grew even more complicated.

...

「Meanwhile, in Qingshan Village.」

Pan Lanfang sat on a chair at home, phone in hand. After hesitating for a long while, she finally dialed Lu Fan’s number.

The phone rang a few times before Lu Fan’s voice came through, tinged with a smile. "Auntie, you were looking for me?"

Pan Lanfang chuckled. "Xiaolu, am I interrupting anything?"

"Not at all, not at all. What’s on your mind?" Lu Fan asked with a laugh.

Pan Lanfang asked tentatively, "How have things been going with you and Yixia lately?"

Lu Fan paused for a second, then laughed. "Auntie, are you checking up on us?"

"Of course I am! I’m just hoping you two will work things out," Pan Lanfang said directly, not hiding her intentions.

Lu Fan quickly explained, "Auntie, don’t worry, I’m still working on it. As for Yixia, I feel like she’s not as resistant to the idea anymore."

Pan Lanfang was happy to hear that, but she said, "That girl just acts tough, but she’s a real softie on the inside. Coax her a little more, and she’ll definitely come around."

Lu Fan replied, "Okay, I’ll take your advice, Auntie."

Pan Lanfang then asked, "Did you go see her today?"

"I did. I just got back from her place."

Pan Lanfang quickly asked, "How did it go? Did she say anything?"

"She didn’t say much, but I got the feeling she was in a good mood," Lu Fan answered after a moment’s thought.

Pan Lanfang laughed. "That’s good, that’s good! Xiaolu, you keep at it. I’m waiting for an invitation to your wedding!"

Lu Fan replied with a laugh, "Okay, I’ll definitely do my best."

After hanging up, Pan Lanfang sat in her chair, a smile still on her face.

Jiang Guoqiang came out from the inner room, saw her expression, and asked, "Who were you on the phone with? You look so happy."

Pan Lanfang chuckled. "With Xiaolu. I was asking him how things are going with Yixia."

Jiang Guoqiang was taken aback for a second, then quickly asked, "What did he say?"

Pan Lanfang explained, "He said Yixia isn’t as resistant anymore."

"That’s good, that’s good," Jiang Guoqiang said, nodding as he also broke into a smile.

Pan Lanfang looked at him and suddenly said, "Old man, what do you say we find an excuse to have Yixia come back and stay for a few days?"

Jiang Guoqiang was a bit confused. "What for?"

"So they can see each other more!" Pan Lanfang explained. "Xiaolu is in Yangcheng, and Yixia is in Yangcheng, but they’re both busy with their own things and don’t meet up often. If Yixia comes back to stay for a few days, Xiaolu can come visit more."

Jiang Guoqiang thought about it and nodded. "Alright. You handle the arrangements."

Pan Lanfang beamed, already starting to scheme up a way to trick her daughter into coming home.
