Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 476 - 474:'it’s time'
Chapter 476: Chapter 474:“it’s time”
Lucien, this little man, seemed to have taken on the role of crowd director, as the moment his cheer ended,
WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
The crowd finally remembered their roles as they exploded.
The shock at the sequence of events finally gave way to the well-deserved awe of my awesomeness.
"Damn!!! Who is this guy!?"
"Fuck!! How did he do that? Did you even see him move?"
"Nope!! Just one moment a massive white dragon was falling, the next, a seeded candidate was turned into blood mist."
"Damn!! But will killing a young master from the Wang family end well?"
"Who gives a shit!? That was AWESOME!!!"
The animated discussion of the excited crowd drifted into my ears as a small sense of satisfaction welled up from within.
At least these guys knew how to appreciate greatness.
"HOLD THE FUCK UP!!! That guy... shouldn’t he be dead last!?"
A sudden scream from an audience member sent the entire coliseum into another spiral as all heads swiveled towards the leaderboard where my "name" was still written boldly in dead last:
100- Long Chen.
"How!? How the hell is he last!??"
"Are these guys bugging!? He’s arguably more powerful than all these seeded posers!!"
"Right!!!? Damn!!"
Once again, the crowd was sent wild with excitement, this time even more so than the last as they had just witnessed the last-ranked candidate slap a seeded participant out of existence like a fly.
The atmosphere ignited immediately as the expectations for the other fights hit an all-time high.
After all, if the last-ranked candidate could have such an upset, then surely there were others who could do the same, right?
WRONG!!!
Bang!! Bang!! Bang!!
Only sounds of collisions and,
"Ughhh...."
Painful groaning could be heard all through the arena as the outcome of every challenge remained the same.
It didn’t matter if you were a young master from some illustrious lineage.
It didn’t matter if you were Heaven’s chosen daughter.
Whoever it was that stepped up to whichever stage held Malachi, Paku, Salazar, Leo, Shulvan or myself, the outcome was always the same.
You either lost your life on the spot, or you lost all will to live, and still died.
Slowly but surely, the remaining candidates and audience began noticing the anomaly.
The number of participants, large as it was, was reducing, and the cause of it all was none other than our group.
"Hey... hey... aren’t they taking it a bit too far?" A member of the crowd spoke up in a shuddering voice.
"They... they’re killing everyone..." A horrifying chill began spreading through the entire coliseum as reality finally dawned upon them.
"Heh! Are these fuckers just realizing what’s happening?" Malachi sneered, tossing the lifeless and mangled corpse of another young master onto the growing pile of bodies behind him.
"They really thought we were here to entertain them?" Paku sneered, pulling out his claws from the broken torso of a female candidate.
"I’m getting bored. These guys... their despair no longer interests me." Leo, on the other hand, was bothered about something else entirely.
Wisely enough, we all ignored the creepy griffon as we turned our attention to the now silent and trembling candidates before us.
Even the other seeded candidates—both those taking a break and those still actively participating—had all paused their battles out of fright as all eyes were locked onto us and the pile of bodies we had amassed... well, that Paku, Leo, Malachi, and Salazar had amassed.
As for myself and Sulvan, there were no corpses to speak of as all our opponents had been obliterated.
"Come now, don’t tell me that’s all it takes to rattle your morale? What happened to going against Heaven’s mandate? Fighting fate? Ascension?" My voice couldn’t help but rumble through the silence that had fallen upon the building.
It seems no one had expected this.
They had expected a battle. Blood-pumping action. Flashy skills, pompous name-callings, and over-abundant posturing. But there was nothing of that sort when I was involved.
This cultivation world needed a reality check every once in a while.
Life wasn’t all flash and glam.
You can talk a big game about going against Heaven’s mandate all you want.
You can claim to be the ultimate challengers of nature all you like.
But I shall be the one to bring that delusion crashing down.
You wish to go against Heaven? Well, here is someone beyond even Heaven.
You wish to go against nature? Against fate? Well, here I am, a being beyond even those.
Now, what will you do when you face someone far removed from what you want to experience?
My eyes roamed through the gathered candidates around, and my answer was received loud and clear:
Nothing.
The gathered candidates finally decided to wisely avoid the stage with the six devils and try their luck against the other candidates occupying the other stages.
And so, the trials and tests wore on with nothing else of interest happening.
Slowly, the crowd got over the shock of the massacre we had been on, finally getting back into the spirit of enjoying the trials for what they were, though every now and then, a curious and apprehensive gaze would be shot towards our direction. Although we had effectively been rendered inactive within this test, the mountain of corpses was still enough to pull in the attention of anyone curious enough to understand just what was happening.
"Haaa... I guess I should’ve held back a little, huh?" I couldn’t help sighing in disappointment as I watched the other candidates fight and have fun whilst me and this bunch of rowdy fools were forced to watch them having the time of their lives.
"If you hadn’t let your murder-hobo tendencies out, you might still be having fun challenging these name-shouting clowns," Shaia laughed teasingly.
"Hey, it’s not my fault. They just tend to be too squishy sometimes, and I usually have a hard time being soft-handed."
"Well, now you’ve got no choice but to be soft-handed. After all, you’ve got nothing to hit, tehehehe..."
"Hmm..." My eyes couldn’t help but lock onto the figures of Malachi, Salazar, Leo, Paku, and Shulvan.
If the other participants weren’t willing to challenge us, then how about we challenge ourselves instead?
"Let’s do it." An evil smirk slowly appeared on my lips as I got ready to mess with my friends, yet fortunately or not,
Dong!! Dong!! Dong!!
The loud tolling of an old and clearly ancient-sounding bell resonated through the whole city as everyone held their breath, and then,
"THE SECOND PHASE OF THE TRIALS HAVE COME TO AND END!" The stoic and rigid voice of the elder from before was swiftly followed by a flash of light as the man appeared within the skies above us, expression blank. He didn’t so much as spare a look at the current body count, his eyes remaining firm and stern as his mouth opened and then,
"The top hundred candidates have finally been chosen!" His voice rang through the air as the audience roared out in response, thoroughly enjoying the process.
"Now that the top hundred have been decided, it is time we head into the last and final phase of the tournament."
The day had already waned, with evening fast approaching, yet not one of the audience gathered seemed the least bit concerned. Nobody wanted to do much as budge from their seats as the entire coliseum held its breath in one collective moment.
The elder seemed to be enjoying the tension himself as he took a dramatic pause, before finally deciding to own his mouth,
"Ladies and gentlemen..."
"... IT’S TIME FOR THE FINAL PHASE OF THE TRIALS, TIME TO KNOW WHO THE BEST OF THIS BATCH TRULY IS."
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
