CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 2731 - 2749: Overconfident
President Edwards calmly reminded, "Since you know it wasn’t easy to get to this point, you should have been cautious back then. However, Miss Lancaster, you were careless, or rather, overly confident, believing that everything was under your control and wouldn’t escalate further."
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case.
This matter has already blown up and has become a concern for three companies.
The Edwards Family, Lancaster’s wood business, plus the Black Clan.
The Black Family is particularly protective, and Jane Sampson is the apple of their eye, so President Black cannot sit by and watch Jane being bullied by Lancaster’s wood business.
"With Hannah not here, I won’t beat around the bush with Miss Lancaster. James Black and Jane Sampson have been married for many years; their relationship is very strong. If you’ve been following them, you should know there’s no opportunity for you to intervene between them, Miss Lancaster. The Edwards Family and Lancaster Family intend to collaborate on a major project. If you want to become a competent professional woman, an independent professional woman, frankly speaking, choosing to marry me is still a pretty good option for you."
"Miss Lancaster, I can see that during our first meeting, you probably approved of the marriage between you and me in your heart. So, I’m quite curious about what later made you change your mind?"
After saying, President Edwards just sat there looking at Emily Lancaster, who sat on ground level awkwardly. He showed no intention of offering a hand to assist.
As a man, being terminated in such a way by the woman who was about to become his fiancée, President Edwards felt that it hurt his dignity quite a bit.
Emily Lancaster, eyes blurred with tears, looked at the man in front of her mockingly, "The man I love married Jane Sampson. Why does my fiancé always have to tell me in every moment how good Jane Sampson is? Why should I marry you, and then listen to you and Hannah endlessly praise Jane Sampson?"
"President Edwards, I just don’t understand. You’ve interacted with Jane Sampson a few times. Why when Hannah praises Jane Sampson, you also follow suit, praising Jane Sampson as well? In front of me, your fiancée, you praise her. Have you considered my feelings? You know that I once secretly loved James Black. Don’t you find it excessive to continually mention Jane Sampson to me?"
Emily Lancaster sneered, "So, you ask why I want to break off the marriage?"
President Edwards looked astonished.
"Are all women’s thoughts this strange?" President Edwards shrugged, "I know you’ve secretly loved James Black, but you didn’t oppose the Edwards Family and Lancaster Family’s marriage alliance plan, so I thought your secret love for James Black was simply past. Therefore, I didn’t feel it necessary to avoid mentioning the name Jane Sampson in front of you."
"Moreover, previously when I saw you, the impression you gave me was that of a calm, dignified, and proudly confident girl. So I was discussing rationally with you the benefits of Lancaster’s wood business’s cooperation with Jane Sampson. I thought by rationally discussing this topic with you, you would consider this issue from a professional perspective."
"I didn’t anticipate that Miss Lancaster would act impulsively, nor did I expect that Miss Lancaster was such a reckless person."
"As for another problem, I think I can also address that for Miss Lancaster."
"Although I’m not well-acquainted with Jane Sampson, I genuinely think she is a decent person. I really admire her character, brave and loving, kind yet not timid. Take Jane Sampson’s kindness towards Hannah, our Edwards Family has every reason to like Jane Sampson."
