Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Renee Is a Professional at Acting
[They don’t believe Taylor and Brown are The Boxing King?]
[They all think the names are similar, but it’s unlikely they’re actually The Boxing King.]
[Yeah, honestly, if I hadn’t watched the livestream, I wouldn’t believe The Boxing King’s skills were this bad... Anyway, they’re just not impressive. Huge letdown. I refuse to accept they’re The Boxing King.]
[It’s not that they suck, it’s that Renee is too strong—Renee is the real Queen!]
Everyone else chimed in:[Damn, she’s awesome.]
Chinese viewers:[...]Did everyone just get brainwashed by Renee Morgan?
When it was Renee Morgan’s turn to introduce herself, the foreigners all got hyped.
[Taylor and Brown are kinda meh, but their taste is legit. I declare they’re still The Boxing King.]
[Nah nah nah, Taylor, Brown, our Renee is nothing like you guys. You guys are just boxing celebs, Renee is a super megastar, gotta correct that.]
[...]
They still took turns on night watch; Taylor and Brown had no objections.
When they pitched the two tents, Zayed thought there were a lot of people and purposefully made them extra wide. So, they all fit—just barely. But these guys are tall as hell, so sleeping was tough.
The other people sharing the tent had it even rougher. Besides always being on edge, there’s snoring loud enough to blow the roof off, and the smell? Could knock you right out.
By midnight, just as they were finally getting sleepy, a shout from the night watch pierced the camp: "Someone’s here... Everyone get up—!"
Zayed woke up in a daze, grabbed a knife, and ducked outside—running smack into Renee Morgan.
The night watch was being done by Team One. Just after the shout, someone pinned him down and two people went at it right away.
By the time Renee Morgan and Zayed came out, Team One’s guy was already subdued, squished flat and unable to move.
Everyone else jolted awake and rushed out; seeing Zayed clutching a knife, they expected him to charge ahead recklessly. But to their surprise, he didn’t make a move.
Renee Morgan sensed something was off and turned to look at Zayed.
"They’re strong." Zayed didn’t explain, just spat out this line.
Renee Morgan understood—them bumping into old acquaintances, huh? The other side’s from the Mercenary Guild?
Looking at their burly size, not losing out to Taylor and Brown, it’s clear these guys outmatch Zayed’s team by a mile.
Taylor and Brown never saw it coming—after robbing Renee Morgan’s group, someone else was eyeing them at the same place, in the same way.
Facing the crowd, the naturally combative Taylor and Brown were not having it.
"Picking on my brother?" Taylor dodged his injury and cracked his fists, bones popping loudly.
"What now? You gonna send all your people at us?" Brown flexed his fists, spread his legs wide, his eyes shining with a fierce glint.
The opposing group had over ten folks. No way were they scared—they unbuckled their belts, ready for a brawl.
Renee Morgan moved back, found a good spot, and got ready to enjoy the show.
Taylor and Brown suddenly remembered something and quickly dropped their tough-guy act.
"I know who you are..." Taylor unleashed a stream of words—basically meaning these people are from a Merrick force, and he happens to know their Godfather. Said it’s all a big misunderstanding, family fighting family.
The explanation was pretty weak, but at least the other side gave him some face—though their looks at Zayed’s crew weren’t friendly.
Taylor and Brown seemed to finally get it: looks like Zayed’s crew pissed these guys off. Normally, Taylor and Brown wouldn’t get involved, but since Zayed and Sean had just helped them out with Renee Morgan, they couldn’t just stand by.
So Taylor had no choice but to step up and negotiate in his mad English again.
But the other side wasn’t having it—tonight, they were set on teaching Zayed’s gang a lesson.
From the conversation, Renee Morgan caught that Zayed’s dad once tried to compete with them for business, then bailed, but still managed to piss off the underlings. They’ve been waiting for payback, and tonight they just happened to bump into each other in the base camp forest.
Negotiations broke down, and the other side was ready to throw hands.
Viewers in the livestream were freaking out—at this rate, Renee Morgan’s team was definitely gonna get carried out of base camp tonight.
Suddenly Taylor spun around and stood in front of Renee Morgan: "Renee, they’re just straight up disrespecting you."
His tone wasn’t friendly, but his attitude was super respectful.
Everyone except the outsiders were baffled—no clue what Taylor was up to.
Kyle Beckett, Miles Yates, and Lynn Miller were extra confused—when did Renee Morgan become Taylor’s... sis?
Wendy Aldridge and Zara Chapman were still huddled in their tent, too scared to come out. With so many people outside, they couldn’t make out what was being said. All they knew was that the intruders sounded tough. They stayed flat on the hay, gripping the whistles around their necks tightly.
After starving for a day and night, their initial ambition for the base camp pass was long dead. Maybe getting out was a good thing—they could finally eat, swap into clean clothes, and crash on a comfy bed.
Still, every time they thought about leaving while Renee Morgan stayed in the forest, with a shot at the pass, it left a sour taste. If they were getting knocked out, they wanted to drag Renee down, too.
What they couldn’t get, Renee shouldn’t even dream of. She’s not worthy.
Renee Morgan’s mind froze for a few seconds—then she caught Taylor winking at her, finally figuring out what he was up to.
These people were after Zayed’s crew, out of personal grudge. If they really throw down tonight, Zayed’s group would be carried out for sure.
Taylor couldn’t talk them out of it, so this was his backup plan.
Between helping and not helping, Renee Morgan didn’t hesitate much, quickly made her choice.
Not just because they’re a team now—no man left behind and all that—but even Taylor’s doing his best to back up Zayed’s crew. If she bailed, she’d look way too cold-blooded.
Even though that group looks like serious trouble, her team’s safety was most important right now.
"Hm?" Renee Morgan didn’t know what to say, worried she might slip up—but her gaze dropped, an invisible pressure rolling over the crowd in front.
Acting? She’s pro at it.
Taylor’s eyes blazed—yup, he was bang on about Renee Morgan. She’s no ordinary person; just had been keeping a low profile with him and Brown all this time.
The viewers in the livestream were just as confused—maybe Renee Morgan’s newcomer status in showbiz is just a cover, and she’s actually got mad clout in the local Merrick scene?
It felt like a webnovel boss showing up in real life.
Then looking at the camera: The Boxing King Taylor standing in front of Renee Morgan—massive, muscular, his head slightly bowed, hands folded in front, humble and respectful, looking exactly like the bodyguard of a female boss.
