Chapter 287: Chapter 287: The Origin Of All Things

The final walls of the calcified artery crumbled into white ash, falling away into the bottomless dark as Neo and his three wives stepped out onto a narrow balcony of petrified bone. Before them yawned the central hollow of the Aeonic Gigaversal Tree, an interior chasm of such unfathomable magnitude that millions of entire Omniverses could have drifted through its depths like microscopic motes of dust in a cathedral.

Countless colossal arteries pierced the inner walls of the trunk from every direction, each one carrying a silent, torrential river of black entropy sap harvested from the corpses of dead Grand Realities.

?Yet as the radiance of Neo’s internal cosmos spilled out from the broken tunnel, the roaring maelstrom at the heart of the trunk did not surge forward to erase them.

Instead, the endless waterfalls of black sap slowed to a crawl and froze completely in midair, hanging like titanic curtains of polished obsidian glass. The suffocating weight that had threatened to crush their divine vessels on the outer branch vanished in a single heartbeat, replaced by a profound, resonant stillness that felt older than the concept of existence itself. ⅇℯ𝚕.

?In the center of the suspended rivers of sap, the writhing sphere of black singularities parted like the petals of a dark lotus. Hovering within the center of that blossom was not a monstrous beast or a screaming vortex of hunger, but a solitary figure woven from translucent, silver-gray mist.

It possessed no fixed form, shifting fluidly between the silhouette of an ancient sovereign, a newborn child, and a sprawling tapestry of infinite, interlocking omniverses.

?Zestia immediately raised her crimson spear, stepping half a pace in front of Neo as her golden eyes locked onto the misty silhouette. The aura of her weapon flared, fueled by the martial weight of the entire Grand Reality she helped govern.

?"Do not let your guard down just because the current stopped moving," Zestia warned, "Malakor was an Omniversal Sovereign who had already conquered his own boundless reality, yet this creature unmade his entire pantheon in a single breath. Whatever is floating inside that sphere is the mind driving the roots, and it is likely preparing a conceptual plague to wipe our names from the Gigaverse while we stand here staring at it."

?"Lower your spear, Goddess of War, for there is no malice in this chamber," a voice spoke. It did not travel through the air, nor did it echo off the petrified wood; it bloomed directly within the core of their divine souls, warm and melancholic, like the memory of a home forgotten before the dawn of creation.

"Malakor was a creature of terror who could only understand supremity through the lens of conquest and servitude. He saw a predator because a predator was all his frightened heart was capable of imagining."

?Noir narrowed her dark eyes, folding her six midnight wings tightly behind her back as she studied the translucent entity.

?"You expect us to believe that you are a benevolent spirit after what we witnessed outside?" Noir asked, her tone dripping with cold skepticism. "We walked across your bark and watched thousands of Supreme Creators screaming in eternal agony while your wood digested their omniversal authorities. We touched the withered husks of dead Grand Realities hanging from your branches like dry leaves, each one a grave of infinite multiverses and trillions of pantheons. If you are not a predator, then you have a very strange way of showing mercy to the Gigaverse."

?The misty figure drifted forward, passing effortlessly through the frozen curtains of black sap until it floated twenty paces away from the bone balcony.

Up close, Neo could see that the mist composing its body was not vapor at all. Every single particle of the mist was an unborn Grand Reality, a tiny spark of pre-genesis potential containing infinite unmanifested timelines that had not yet chosen what foundational laws to adopt.

?"I am the Consciousness of the First Root, the keeper of the threshold between what is and what must never be," the entity replied, its shifting face settling briefly into a look of ancient sorrow. "You look upon the Sovereigns in my bark and see prisoners, Queen of the Abyss, because you do not know how Everything came to be. To you, an Omniverse is a grand kingdom, and a single universe is a speck of dust. Yet you still believe that creation is a natural gift that springs freely from the dark, and that any hand which extinguishes a Grand Reality is an enemy of life. Allow me to tell you the truth of the beginning, before your golden blade attempts to sever the only anchor holding the Gigaverse above the true abyss."

?Neo did not lower his mercurial sword, though he rested his hand lightly on Zestia’s armored shoulder to keep her from striking.

?"Speak, then. I have assimilated the totality of my birth reality, the stagnant empire of the Seventh Omniverse, the inverted laws of the 999,999th realm, and the ancient memories of the High Court. Yet none of them possessed a record of what came before the Gigaverse. Tell me how this ocean of Grand Realities was born."

?The Consciousness raised a translucent hand, and the frozen rivers of black sap around the chamber began to reflect visions of an era before concepts had names.

?"Before there was a Gigaverse, before there was a True Void, and before the first Grand Reality had ever spun its infinite wheel of multiverses, there was only the Unbroken Absolute. The Unbroken Absolute was not a god who ruled over creation; it was the totality of all possible and impossible existence compressed into a single, eternal state of perfection. Within that singular state, universes and dimensions did not exist, for there was no division. There was no time because nothing ever transitioned. There was no life, and there was no death, only an endless, dreamless slumber of complete completeness."

?Moon leaned forward on her silver lotus, her eyes wide with spiritual recognition as she watched the reflections in the dark sap.

?"The primordial origin," Moon whispered softly. "Even when we transcended our home Omniverse, the highest truths of the Dao only hinted at a source from which all divergent cosmic laws flowed."

?"It was a source of infinite weight, yet bound by a single limitation," the Consciousness agreed, nodding slowly toward Moon. "For an eternity that cannot be measured, the Unbroken Absolute slept. Yet within absolute perfection, a single, fatal desire eventually awoke. The Absolute wished to behold its own majesty. Because there was nothing outside of itself to act as a mirror, it could not comprehend what it meant to be whole. The only way it could experience existence was to divide itself into the observer and the observed, to test every conceivable permutation of reality. And so, the Unbroken Absolute committed the first and greatest sacrifice: it shattered its own totality."

?The reflections in the black sap flashed with a silent, ghostly light, showing a singular boundless truth fracturing into an endless ocean of colossal cosmic spheres.

?"That shattering was the birth of the Gigaverse," the Consciousness continued. "A single universe or a simple multiverse was far too small to reflect even a fraction of the Absolute’s face.

Thus, each shard of its shattered totality became a Grand Reality, a self-contained Omniverse holding infinite dimensions, endless timelines, and wholly unique foundational paradigms. One shard became a reality of pure mechanical stasis; another became a reality of inverted life and death; another became the realm of your birth.

That is what you call creation: the brief, brilliant friction generated by fragments of the Absolute experimenting with their own existence as they drift apart in the dark."

?"If every Grand Reality is a mirror created so the Absolute can experience existence, then your actions are a direct betrayal of that sacrifice. By drinking the light of the Grand Realities and erasing their entire conceptual frameworks with your sap, you are shattering the mirrors and plunging the Gigaverse into blindness."

?"I am not blinding the Gigaverse, Supreme Creator; I am keeping it from dying of total conceptual exhaustion," the Consciousness answered, a sudden, terrifying intensity entering its ancient voice. "Do you truly believe that even the shattered totality of the Absolute possesses limitless fuel? Each Grand Reality is already an engine of infinite multiverses. As eons pass, new Grand Realities bud from the old, and ambitious Sovereigns like Malakor or yourself ascend to forge entirely new omniversal domains. Every time a new Omniverse is born, the foundational spark of the Absolute is stretched thinner and thinner across an ever-multiplying hierarchy of infinities."

?The misty figure gestured toward the outer walls of the trunk, beyond which the millions of glowing Grand Realities of the Gigaverse floated.

?"If the Gigaverse is allowed to multiply its Omniverses without limit, the primordial spark will eventually dilute into nothingness," the Consciousness warned. "When that happens, the Grand Realities will not merely go dark; the very capacity for concepts, laws, and existence to manifest will collapse into the True Unmaking, an irreversible nonexistence from which nothing can ever wake again. I was grown from the center of the original fracture to prevent that final death. My roots reach out to harvest the Omniverses that have grown stagnant, corrupt, or overly bloated. I drink their omniversal light, I erase their noisy, repetitive histories of quadrillions of multiverses to clear away the conceptual rot, and I store their pure, undiluted primordial potential deep beneath my roots until enough essence is gathered to reforge the Unbroken Absolute."

?Silence hung heavy in the chasm as the three queens processed the revelation. The terrifying monolith that treated entire Omniverses like autumn leaves was not a mindless parasite, but a gigaversal regulator operating on a scale of aeons.

?"And what of the Supreme Creators trapped in your bark?" Moon asked, her voice solemn as she looked at the calcified walls around them. "Each of them ruled over an entire Omniverse. Why must they suffer in eternal agony if your purpose is merely preservation?"
