Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Discovery

Silas stepped through a portal of shimmering blue light. He arrived in a space that completely defied basic geometry. Endless rows of towering mahogany bookshelves stretched upward into a golden, cloudless sky. The floor beneath his boots was not solid wood or stone. It was a perfect reflection of a tranquil, shallow ocean. The Infinite Library was not a standard building confined by walls or a roof. It was an independent dimension entirely dedicated to the preservation of cosmic truth.

Silas walked forward, his heavy scholar robes dragging lightly across the watery floor without creating a single ripple. He reached out to touch a book bound in glowing starlight. The moment his fingers brushed the spine of the text, a massive rush of information flooded his mind. It was the complete evolutionary history, cultural development, and tragic extinction of an alien species from a universe that had died millions of years ago. He pulled his hand back quickly, gasping for breath as his mind processed the data. The sheer density of the information would have instantly crushed a mortal brain into madness. But here, inside Multiverse Prime, his soul expanded naturally to accommodate the knowledge.

He smiled widely, pulling his bronze calculation compass from his deep pockets. He looked down endless corridors of similar books. He had an absolute eternity to categorize the math, magic, and science of a thousand dead realities. For the first time in his long, complicated existence, Silas felt perfectly at peace. He did not have to rush. He did not have to fear an invasion. He could simply learn.

Orion did not want peace. He craved the sharp edge of a blade and the heavy impact of a worthy opponent. He stepped through a portal of churning red fire and emerged onto a desolate landscape of shattered obsidian rocks. The sky above his head was a chaotic swirl of purple lightning and heavy crimson clouds. This was the Crucible of Stars, the specialized training domain his father had built specifically to test immortal limits.

Orion drew Ironbreaker from his back. The heavy broadsword roared to life, casting a harsh orange glow over the dark, jagged rocks. He did not have to wait long for a challenge. The ground beneath his heavy boots trembled violently. A massive fissure split the obsidian crust wide open. A creature forged entirely from the raw, unstable fury of a dying sun pulled itself onto the surface. It was a Star Eater, a mythical beast summoned from the deepest depths of the ancient abyss. It had six eyes burning with solar plasma and a jaw capable of crushing small planets into dust.

The beast roared at him, sending a powerful shockwave that shattered the surrounding mountain peaks into gravel.

Orion grinned fiercely. His blood pumped with familiar, intoxicating adrenaline. He launched himself forward, his boots cracking the stone beneath him with explosive force. The Star Eater lunged to meet him, bringing a massive claw down in an attempt to crush the warrior. Orion did not dodge out of the way. He planted his feet firmly and swung Ironbreaker upward in a flawless, heavy arc.

The flaming steel met the plasma claw. The resulting explosion illuminated the entire dark dimension in blinding light. Orion felt the kinetic force reverberate through his bones, pushing the limits of his immortal frame. He was forced backward, his boots dragging deep trenches into the solid obsidian floor. But he was not hurt. His body did not break. He laughed out loud, feeling the absolute thrill of true, unrestricted combat without the lingering shadow of permanent death hanging over his soul. He raised his sword again and charged back into the fray, eager to see how long the beast could last.

While their children explored their new domains, Neo and his three wives gathered in the deepest sanctum of the Genesis Palace. This hidden room was not made of marble, gold, or any standard material. It was forged from pure, solidified time. The pale walls hummed with the quiet, steady rhythm of eternity. In the exact center of the room sat a massive forging anvil made from the dense core of a white dwarf star.

Neo stood beside the anvil. Noir, Moon, and Zestia formed a tight triangle around him. The playful, relaxed atmosphere from the balcony had vanished entirely. They were apex predators preparing for their most important hunt yet.

Neo opened his palm. The jagged fragment of dark stone materialized in his hand and dropped heavily onto the white anvil. It made a dull, dead sound upon impact. The fragment seemed to absorb all the ambient light around it, creating a small, localized pocket of absolute nothingness.

"This is the piece you pulled from the outer boundary," Noir stated flatly. Her dark eyes locked onto the stone. "It is entirely repulsive to look at. I can feel my own dark matter actively pulling away from it in disgust."

"That is because it operates on a frequency entirely alien to our existence," Neo explained. "I brought you all here because I need to thoroughly test its durability. If we are eventually going to breach The Grand Reality, we need to know exactly what kind of force is required to break their native materials."

Zestia cracked her armored knuckles loudly. Her golden eyes flared with the pure intent to destroy. "Allow me to strike the first blow. I want to see if this arrogant foreign rock can withstand the ultimate law of war."

Neo nodded silently and took a step back to give her room.

Zestia summoned her legendary spear. The weapon ignited with a crimson aura so intense it physically warped the solidified time forming the walls of the sanctum. She channeled the culmination of millions of bloody battles, condensing the pure concept of absolute destruction perfectly into the sharp tip of her spear. With a fierce, deafening shout, she thrust the weapon forward with all her divine strength. The spearhead struck the dark fragment dead center.

The impact of that thrust should have atomized an entire galaxy instantly. Instead, the spear simply bounced off the stone. The massive kinetic energy vanished completely, swallowed whole by the dull surface of the fragment. Zestia stumbled forward clumsily, staring at her spear in sheer, unadulterated disbelief. The fragment did not even have a tiny scratch on it.

"That is impossible," Zestia whispered softly. "I struck that target with enough conceptual weight to erase a multiverse from the timeline."

"Brute physical force will not work here," Moon said gently, gliding forward to take Zestia’s place. "If the physical laws of our reality do not apply to this material, we must try spiritual purification instead."

Moon brought her hands together in a prayer motion. Her body became a brilliant beacon of blinding silver light. She summoned the highest, most absolute truth of the heavenly Dao, forming a glowing lotus flower of pure conceptual energy hovering directly above the anvil. The lotus spun slowly and gracefully, raining drops of absolute purity down onto the dark fragment. These drops were specifically designed to cleanse corruption and unmake matter at a fundamental spiritual level.

The silver drops hit the dark stone and simply slid off like water running down a pane of glass. The potent spiritual energy dissipated harmlessly into the surrounding air. Moon slowly opened her eyes, a rare expression of genuine surprise crossing her serene features.

"It rejects the Dao completely," Moon observed quietly. "It is not evil in nature. It is not corrupt. It is simply utterly immune to our spiritual logic."

Noir stepped forward next to try her hand. She extended her pale hand toward the anvil, her six midnight wings flaring out aggressively behind her back. "Let us see how it handles the absolute concept of decay."

She unleashed a violent torrent of primordial dark matter. The black energy wrapped tightly around the fragment, attempting to forcefully age the stone by billions of years in a single, concentrated second. The dark matter chewed and gnawed viciously at the foreign substance, trying desperately to break down its molecular bonds. Noir pushed harder, beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she channeled the deepest depths of the abyss itself.

After a full, exhausting minute, Noir pulled her hand back, panting slightly from the extreme effort. The dark matter faded away completely. The jagged fragment sat undisturbed on the anvil, completely unchanged by the assault.

Noir crossed her arms over her chest, her usual cynical smirk fully replaced by a deep frown of genuine frustration. "Nothing happened. It did not age a single day. My ultimate decay magic is completely useless against it."

Neo walked back over to the anvil. He looked down at the stubborn piece of foreign reality. He felt a profound, overwhelming sense of excitement building rapidly in his chest. For millions of years, he had been the absolute master of everything he touched. Finding something he could not easily break or manipulate was the greatest gift he could have possibly asked for.

"This perfectly confirms my working theory," Neo said, his voice echoing loudly in the quiet sanctum. "The Grand Reality does not share our foundational laws. Their physical matter is constructed from a completely different paradigm altogether. If we attack the barrier with our current powers, we will only bounce off harmlessly, just like Zestia’s spear."
