Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 983 - 512: I Don’t Need Other Men, I Need You
"Are you really lacking a man?" Julian Carter’s thin lips uttered words as unemotional as his expression.
Eliza Bell sighed softly, "I don’t lack men. I lack you."
The standing man, with cold eyes, had a shimmer of light gradually spreading in the depths of his gaze...
"Why did you bring me here?" The car stopped at the entrance of a small alley. Eliza was stunned, feeling a bit strange. Was he annoyed with her and planned to sell her?
"Aren’t we having dinner?" Julian spoke indifferently, his long and graceful fingers resting on the car door handle as he got out. The woman sitting next to him seemed not to react immediately, watching him get out of the car, his straight figure walking into a humble noodle shop at the alley entrance, only then did she come to her senses. She was indeed hungry, she’d been mesmerized just watching him earlier.
But couldn’t he be a bit polite? After all, she’s a woman. Couldn’t he open the car door for her or invite her to get out and have dinner together? This man was clearly just like the information she’d gathered; he rarely interacted with women and didn’t even know the basics of gentleness and care. He was abstinent. What would the night entail? Eliza’s face blushed furiously, biting her lip, she got out of the car—better to fill her stomach first.
The table was set with two bowls of beef noodles with tendon and meat, a plate of pickled vegetables, a plate of smashed cucumbers, and a plate of cold tripe salad. Eliza sat down and took a bite—it was indeed delicious.
"How did you know there would be food here? This noodle is really good." The taste was spot on, even she couldn’t help but praise it.
Julian kept a face of indifference, eating noodles and ignoring her. He didn’t even glance at the brilliant light emanating from her eyes that were as charming as a water droplet. Eliza chomped down on the cucumber, feeling slightly resentful. What an unromantic man, completely dense!
After finishing the noodles, they drove to the park where Eliza’s private gallery was located. Spring nights are extraordinarily peaceful and beautiful. The clubhouse deep within the park seemed like a small sanctuary. Eliza waved at the two security guards inside: "You can go home tonight; no need for a shift."
The two security guards exchanged glances and quickly left. They saw the cold and stern man standing behind, naturally understanding everything, and shut the door behind them, leaving the two alone.
Eliza took out a bottle of red wine; Julian glanced at it. This woman was indeed lavish—a 1961 Marquis Vineyard vintage, a standard case of 12 bottles exceeding three hundred and twenty thousand on the market.
The crystal goblet reflected a beautiful pigeon blood red color. Julian did not drink it.
"What, afraid I drugged the wine?" Eliza playfully blinked, having drunk the wine, her face carried a slight blush, her gaze somewhat becoming dreamy...
"I don’t drink," Julian said coldly. His job and the people he followed required him to stay alert at all times, and alcohol was the most likely to lead to mistakes; he never touched it.
Eliza looked at the man, his deep and narrow eyes distant as water. As their eyes met, an unusual feeling flickered, but before she could discern it, he had already averted his gaze, just as his phone rang intrusively. Truly a dull man—even the ringtone was monotonous and boring, the most tedious kind.
After answering the call, his once-aloof face became even colder and more solemn. Hanging up, he turned to look at her, curled up like a lazy yet regal Persian Cat.
"You have something to do, want to leave?" Eliza smiled and asked him before he could speak.
Julian nodded noncommittally, "I have an urgent matter." Eliza kept smiling, "I can tell, go ahead." She wanted to appear generous, yet her heart couldn’t help but let out a silent howl—such a shame to waste such a fine time. Her bright face carried a hint of grievance. Julian slightly furrowed his brow, never understanding how to interact with women, especially knowing that something had to develop between him and this woman, making him feel as though his life would be inextricably linked with her, a rush of agitation rising within his heart: "Sorry." He quietly uttered two words before quickly turning to leave...
