"Get out..." Her voice trembled, her whole body shaking as she turned over, curled up with her back to him. Her stomach ached deeply; she felt miserable. Was this karma? But she wanted to keep this child, she wanted to be a piece of sky for someone. Cold sweat seeped from her forehead, the pain becoming more intense.

With her back to him, her frail spine was rigid, long black hair scattered over the white bedsheets, a sight that tugged at one’s heart.

He walked over, his large hand gently caressing her back, "Avery, listen to me..." He wanted to explain that the situation with that woman was just an act, meant to divert the attention of Conny Hughes’ hidden spies.

Aside from his scent, there was a sweet perfume on him. She was familiar with it because it was Evelyn’s favorite, and probably belonged to the woman who had just been with him.

Avery Jane suddenly sat up, "Get out..." As she sat up abruptly, her abdomen ached like it was being cut with a knife. The sharp pain made her clench her teeth, and the blood slowly flowing out began to soak the sheets beneath her. It was useless; karma had indeed come for her. She wouldn’t be anyone’s reliance or anyone’s sky. Her child was gradually slipping away from her body...

Watching the white sheets beneath her, Joshua Hughes’ handsome face turned ghostly pale. His first reaction was to rush out and call for the doctor. The doctor immediately pushed him outside and closed the door. Joshua stood there as if he had fallen into an ice cellar. What was happening? Who could tell him? His heart beat in his chest like a drum, his anxious eyes fixated on the closed door. He seemed to realize what had happened; if it weren’t for Avery being inside, he might collapse mentally in an instant.

Beckett Wright carried a pair of soft cotton slippers, the only purchase possible from the small convenience store. Although they weren’t particularly attractive, they ought to be comfortable. Even from a distance, he could see the man in a black suit, standing out from the crowd. No matter where he was, he could easily become the center of attention. Beckett’s wet face grew anxious as he hurried over.

"Where’s Avery Jane? What did you do to her?" The doctor had just explained that her physical condition couldn’t withstand any irritation. Looking at the closed white hospital door, a sense of foreboding crept into Beckett’s heart.

"Is she pregnant?" His voice was hoarse, as if from an endless night, emitting an incomparable desolation from the depths of his chest. Joshua Hughes’ thin lips trembled, the heartache and regret in his eyes threatening to consume him.

His usually mild face turned extremely cold. A glare as cold as ice was cast towards Joshua: "Don’t you know? What did you do to make her suffer like this? She just said she can’t even take care of herself right now, let alone raise a child. Mr. Hughes, men are prone to neglect the old for the new, but can’t you avoid flaunting it in front of her? She can’t handle even a little bit of stimulation right now, not at all."

Joshua Hughes felt as though he was struck by lightning, his robust body leaning against the hospital wall. His pale face gazed at the door, filled with sharp pain and slight trembling. How could he be so careless? When the bodyguard in Las Vegas said she was having a physiological cycle and wanted to sleep, he believed it. In fact, she had secretly returned then; she had deceived the bodyguard. But why did she do this? Was it truly to punish him? Bloodshot eyes, his tightly clenched hand showing bulging veins. He wondered if he still had a chance to keep her. This was supposed to be the only chance, but now...

"If you don’t want to take responsibility, I will treat her well, and the child too." As long as the child survives, Beckett’s gentle mouth turned tense, losing the usual refreshing warmth in his speech.

"This is my matter; get lost." Joshua Hughes’ icy eyes glared at him as if intending to kill, speaking through gritted teeth.

Beckett clenched his fist, an almost explosive tension in the air, when the door opened. The doctor approached Beckett with a stern face, "I told you to be extra careful. How did it come to this so quickly? Even if you want this child, it’s useless now; it can’t be saved. I just cleaned her up, scraped her uterus clean, otherwise, it would be troublesome. That’s very painful. Now she’s on an IV, don’t let her walk later. Rest for two weeks, avoid cold water; her body is extremely weak now. If not properly recuperated, it’ll leave chronic issues; it’s troublesome when she’s older." The doctor shook his head, feeling sorry. They both looked so good, if they had a child, he could have been a child star.
