Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 951 - 523: He Unknowingly Stole Her Heart (Part 2)
"Avery Jane, I told you before, I don’t want any promises from you, I just want you to be well. I want to take good care of you." The hospital was crowded and noisy, but his voice was like a warm light shining on her. She couldn’t give him anything in return; back then with Wenyard, it might have been admiration and attachment, or maybe something more indefinable like affection. But with Joshua Hughes, it was true love—a love that seemed to have merged into her bloodstream, an indelible mark. Yet she couldn’t love him; his actions made it impossible for her to face him again, nor could she forgive him. And today, today he hadn’t cared how she was doing at all.
He just watched her fall onto the ground; men are always so heartless. He coveted temporary novelty with her, and now that there was a fresher taste, he didn’t even bother to look at her again. At one time, she even thought maybe Joshua Hughes liked her, but it was not the case at all. This was also what she hated most about him—knowing full well that after she remembered everything she couldn’t be with him, yet he was still so tender and warm, so fervent and passionate, making her involuntarily fall in love with him.
This man is truly a devil; he unknowingly stole her heart......
"Avery Jane, this is a tiny life, half of the blood comes from you. For your own sake, you must be brave, because you already have someone worthy of living courageously for. You will be this child’s everything; you will be this child’s belief, the sky this child relies on most. Avery Jane, this is your responsibility." Beckett Wright said firmly, a child can bring a mother all the courage for life, he hopes Avery Jane lives well.
Avery Jane’s eyes were like midnight starlight; one day she too would become another’s belief, the person being her child. Such words sounded beautiful and moving. But she didn’t want to owe him, not even a bit.
"Stop overthinking for now, Avery Jane, I’ll go find you a pair of flat shoes. The doctor said you absolutely can’t wear these shoes anymore; let’s go back and plan what to do next, OK? This is the hospital lounge, we can’t stay here too long." Beckett Wright urged Avery Jane not to get up yet, to lie down a while longer, then hurriedly ran out. There was a convenience store outside the hospital; he went to buy her a pair of slippers to change into. Before leaving, he reminded the nurse to keep an eye on her, not to let her get out of bed.
Accelerating all the way, just thinking of the scene where her frail body was carried by Beckett Wright made his heart ache painfully, to the point of near death. Once she was his everything in his embrace; hugging her he could clearly feel every strand of her softness, but today he watched another man pick her up.
Breath heated, filled with excruciating heartache and jealousy. He was afraid; he knew he was close to losing her, afraid he had no chance to make amends, afraid each missed opportunity would be the last. His ears buzzed, the hospital’s disinfectant smell was pungent, the people coming and going in his eyes were like illusions, he pushed through the crowd, face anxious, yet even like that his captivatingly handsome face still managed to unsettle the nurses’ hearts, the young nurses kept turning back to glance at him.
In the lounge next to the emergency room, on a simple small bed, her thin body lay there, face pale, eyes closed, long lashes casting fragile shadows under her eyes, making one feel heartache. What’s wrong with her, didn’t she get a good rest? Or hasn’t she eaten properly these days? Joshua Hughes looked at her, heart aching like it’s being cut.......
His powerful aura, mixed with the increasingly strong musky scent accompanying his running, rushed over, making Avery Jane’s heart tremble, her stomach twist as her emotions surged up and down.
"Avery, what’s wrong, what’s wrong with you?" Joshua Hughes looked at Avery Jane on the bed; in such a short time, she had lost so much weight, her face pale as paper. Joshua Hughes suppressed his wildly arriving heavy breath, trying to make his tone sound a bit calmer. He said he wouldn’t entangle, but how could he let go, he hadn’t let go at all. He had to see for himself that she was alright, or he would worry himself to death.
